MSI P6N SLI Platinum NF650i SLI Motherboard
2008-06-08 00:00:00 Motherboards are pretty much the main component in any computer system, most people either build their system around it or the CPU, and we've got so many choices it can get confusing at times. One of the things I do is PC-Based CCTV Security Systems, and some have been installed for a few years, so there comes a time to upgrade them as parts fail, running 24/7 is hard on components. I've noticed a trend though with newer motherboards, they seem to be eliminating IDE connections on them and it's getting harder to find basic motherboards that can support four IDE devices, so I have to settle on getting more higher end ones to have the support I need. When upgrading this system I had to find one that was compatible with my current hardware, especially the three 400 gig hard drives and one DVD/RW. I searched and searched and finally settled on one that I thought would work fine for my needs. Since, when I build these systems, I test them throughly with standard benchmarks et... Gelid GC1 Thermal Compound
2008-06-07 00:00:00 Gelid Solutions, (http://www.gelidsolutions.com) established in 2008 as a thermal solutions provider, their first product is GC1 Thermal Compound. I received a pre-production sample for testing about a month ago actually, but yesterday their website finally went live so today I've got the review for you. How does this newcomer stand up to the competition? I've put it up against names like OCZ, Noctua and Arctic Cooling to see how the GC1 does in comparison testing. So read on to see how it performed...

GSkill PC2-6400 2x1GB 800mhz DDR2 Ram F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ
2008-06-06 00:00:00 All ram is not created equal, and that means ALL ram, one set of the same exact ram may perform better than another set or overclock higher than another set, it's hard to judge ram except with testing and examining the results to see where the strengths and weaknesses are of any given set of ram.Up on the review block today is a slick looking set of ram from GSkill, with it's red and silver heatspreaders it just screams fast sitting in the box, but is it? The ram I have today can be found online very cheaply, for around $45 for 2gigs of it, that's not a bad price really even if it doesn't outperform the competition.
Super Talent T800UX2GC4 DDR2 PC2-6400 800Mhz 2x1Gb Ram
2008-06-06 00:00:00 Today I figured I'd post another ram review... Up on the review block today is the Super Talent T800UX2GC4 DDR2 PC2-6400 800Mhz 2x1Gb Ram, I'm sure most people are familiar with Super Talent, they make quite a few products related to memory like USB Drives, SSD Drives and of course regular memory. The ram I have today from them is very sleek looking with it's dark blue heatspreaders, but looks don't mean much if it doesn't perform, so let's just jump right on in and see just how well it does perform...
Digital Stream DTX9900 Digital to Analog Converter Box
2008-06-06 00:00:00 So I don't have cable, I haven't had it for about 7 years now, why you might ask? Well for one I got tired of rates just going up all the time with no explanation, when I dropped my cable and cable internet I was paying a little over $100 per month for something I really didn't even use. The internet was a joke, sure it was fast at times, but it was very inconsistent. I also had numerous problems with even having internet, 10 to 15 days out of every month the internet was out for a few hours per day, and of course there was nothing they could do about it. I've since switched to Verizon DSL and have never had an outage, except of course when the power goes out, the speed is consistent and I'm very happy with it. Anyway, as for having cable TV, well that again was hit or miss when it was even on, I was paying for digital cable etc and had 200 and some channels with really nothing on them, at least nothing that I was interested in. I've got three kids and most o... More About: Converter , Stream , Digital , Analog

XPSP2 vs XPSP3 Performance Comparison
2008-05-23 00:00:00 So Service Pack 3 for Windows XP has come and gone with not much really said about it, sure there was plenty of talk before it came out but you don't hear much after the fact. Of course I installed it I was curious as to what if any differences there were between them, from what I can recall Microsoft said that the Service Pack didn't include any performance enhancements or anything like that to the core of the OS, and honestly if doesn't feel much different to me. It does actually 'feel' a bit slower though to do things, like load thumbnails for instances, I've got tons or pictures on my computer and they just seem to load much slower now, also I noticed when I click 'My Computer', click a drive to open it or pop in a USB drive it seems slower there as well to react, maybe it's me as I haven't really heard anyone else mention it. So for my own purposes I decided to run a bunch of tests to see if there was any real differences, after all Ben... More About: Performance , Comparison
SteelSeries Ikari Optical Gaming Mouse
2008-05-23 00:00:00 SteelSeries (http://www.steelseries.com) Ikari Laser Gaming Mouse and I found it to be an excellent choice overall, today I've got the optical version of Ikari and I think I actually like it better than the laser Ikari... It offers choices of DPI or CPI settings, but that's about it, it's not as feature packed as the Ikari laser, there's no special LCD screen and you can't change the settings on the fly, but that's ok with me as I never really used any of those features anyway. If you're looking for a great mouse for gaming and everyday use that just is that, a great mouse, then read on to check out the Ikari Optical Gaming Mouse...

Boxwave Screen Puff and Replacement Stylus for ATT Tilt / TyTn II
2008-05-21 00:00:00 Boxwave (http://www.boxwave.com) . So you've got a new phone and of course since it's new you really want to take care of it, one of the most annoying things with touchscreens is the fingerprints that get on them from touching it. With a touchscreen you have to be careful not to scratch it so you really can't just use anything to clean it, you need something soft and non-abrasive, that's where Boxwave comes in with their Screen Puff . The Screen Puff resembles a pillow and has a small strap on it to attach to your phone so it's always ready when you need it. The Stylus that comes with your ATT Tilt / TyTn II is adequate for what it needs to do, but if you're like me you're bound to lose it, so you'll need a replacement, but why just get any plain replacement stylus, why not get something better? Most people think that a stylus is just a stylus, but the one I got from Boxwave for review is nice. I've shown it to people that have phones with styl...
LapLogic G800 & W800 Aerogel Extreme LapDesks
2008-05-10 00:00:00 LapLogic (http://laplogic.com/) . The G800 Aerogel Extreme LapDesk W800 Aerogel Extreme LapDesk are the newest members of the LapLogic family and these pads have some impressive technology behind them. These LapDesks incorporate Aspen Aerogels, which is a company that uses nano-technology for their insulation. This technology allows their insulation to provide protection from even the most extreme temperature ranges, just check out their demo involving a blow torch and dry ice. Don’t believe me, check out their video! http://www.aerogel.com (http://www.aerogel.com) Now, I know we will never be using a blow torch or placing our laptops on a block of dry ice, but having that type of protection available is definitely nice! Aerogel insulation holds the Guinness Book of World Records record for best thermal insulation known to man, besides the Aerogel used, LapLogic has some other tricks up their sleeve to make these some of the best lapdesks in the market. Other key f...

Thermaltake M9 Mid-Tower PC Case
2008-05-10 00:00:00 Thermaltake (http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/) is one of them. They've been around for quite a while and have a large selection of PC cases that will fit any budget or type of system build. My experience with their products has always been a good one, and they are a company that is constantly improving their products for the better. Today for review I've got the Thermaltake M9 ATX case, it's a mid-tower style case that is sort of a basic case but offers some nice features and looks good as well. Aesthetically the M9 is very pleasing with an almost solid black exterior, nice contour lines and an overall sense of style to it. When powered on the blue LEDs of the included fans make a nice contrast with the black and make for a very nice presentation, its also quiet and does a decent job of keeping your system cool. So continue on to learn more about the Thermaltake M9... More About: Case , Tower
Noctua NH-C12P CPU Cooler Review
2008-05-05 00:00:00 Noctua (http://www.noctua.at) has honored us with the privilege of being their US launch partner for their new CPU cooler. The C12P continues Noctua's tradition of striving for performance without sacrificing quality along the way. The C12P is like no other Noctua designed cooler to date, and not much like any other CPU cooler I've even seen actually. It incorporates six heatpipes into a short, fat style body that Noctua calls a 'C-Type' design with airflow gaps that allow cooling of the motherboard components as well. This design allows for a much higher compatibility with more motherboards and PC case configurations, where a tall CPU cooler won't fit the NH-C12P will fit easily. The NH-C12P uses Noctua's own NF-P12 120mm fan for cooling so you know it will be quiet as well. The Noctua NH-C12P is possibly the best cooler on the market today, from my testing and re-testing it beats all others I have for comparison, and that includes names like Thermalright,... Thermolab Nano Silencer CPU Cooler Review LGA775
2008-05-03 00:00:00 Yesterday I looked at the Thermolab Micro Silencer CPU Cooler , today I've got the Thermolab Nano Silencer. If you thought the Micro Silencer was small then you'll be amazed at the size of the Nano Silencer, it is about half the size of the Micro and still performs almost as well. I'm truly surprised by the performance of this cooler when you consider just how small it is. Since it's so small there should be no problem fitting it into any size case, and there should be no compatibility issues with motherboards either. So continue on to see a very small CPU cooler that performs just as good, and better than coolers that are twice or three times its size... More About: Review
Site Redesign
2008-05-03 00:00:00 If you haven't noticed we've done a bit of redesign to the site, though I'm sure you did by now... through the magic of CSS and little HTML thrown in we've got a nice new site that I hope works and looks much better. It's much more streamlined now, and I know I'm happier with it, there are a couple tiny kinks to work out yet, but for the most part it's complete and will remain this way for quite some time. Some might question the color scheme, but I wanted something different, something that stands out, but yet works well together.I think it's easier to navigate now with the larger highlighted menu, and I think the important stuff stands out better now. Thre are a couple more things to be added yet, and a few more tweaks but nothing major overall... I'm still finishing up the redesign/reorganization of the 'Reviews' page, I like the small pictures better of the individual items, yes I know it loads a bit slow right now, but within the next ... Thermolab Micro Silencer CPU Cooler LGA775
2008-05-02 00:00:00 Thermolab, ever hear of them? Neither did I until they approached me about reviewing their products a couple weeks ago. They are a company based in Korea that started in 2005 as a design company for other companies' thermal products and have recently come out with their own line of products. They've released two of them so far, the Micro Silencer CPU Cooler and the Nano Silencer CPU cooler, with another tower style cooler slated for 4th quarter 2008 launch. So far from my experience with these coolers they're very good, and could be a nice choice for a silent and good performing cooler. Today I'm taking a look at the Thermolab Micro Silencer CPU cooler, it's a small cooler that incorporates fins and heatpipes to help cool your CPU. It's actually smaller then the Intel Stock CPU Cooler, making it attractive for people that are space limited in their cases. Despite its size though, it performs very well, even when compared to tower style coolers that are twice...
USB 2.0 Extension Cable to Cat5e or Cat6 Extender Adapter
2008-04-30 00:00:00 USBFever (http://www.usbfever.com) have the perfect solution for this dilemma. If you have a spare Cat5e or Cat6 cable lying around, then the USB 2.0 Extension Cable to Cat5e or Cat6 Extender Adapter is the solution to your USB connection problems. This device allows you to create a USB extension cable essentially limited only by the length of the Cat5e or Cat6 cable used. The maximum length is 150 feet, but seriously, if you need to hook up a USB device a 150 feet away, maybe you should not be using that type of device.

miniSync - Car Charger Bundle from Boxwave for ATT Tilt/ HTC Tytn II
2008-04-27 00:00:00 The ATT Tilt is a great phone overall, but AT T decided to not include things with it that comes with the TyTn II like a headset and car charger. Headsets of course are fairly easy to come by, and you've got many choices with them, car chargers are easy to come by as well and fairly cheap. When it comes to car chargers though do you really want to rely on some cheapie after-market device to safely charge your phone? Why not get one from a reliable source and still not pay much for it?In my ongoing set of reviews of accessories for the Tilt, the next up would be the miniSync - Car Charger Bundle from Boxwave for ATT Tilt/ HTC Tytn II and it's more than just a car charger it's also a syncing cable as well to sync your phone to your PC. This bundle is inexpensive, coming it at under thirty dollars, it includes two retractable cables, one specifically for syncing/charging to/from your PC and one just for charging your phone while you're in your car with the included high...

Holster Clip for AT&T Tilt/TyTn II/8925 from Boxwave

ATT Tilt Review : Sort of...
2008-04-19 00:00:00 The cellphone I have for review today goes by a few names, be it the HTC Kaiser, HTC TyTn II, or the AT T Tilt , but no matter what name you give it there's no denying it's a great phone. The Tilt is arguably the best phone out there today and for good reason, just look around it has gotten rave reviews from everyone who has reviewed it. So I've got the Tilt for review today, but then I really don't have the Tilt for review today. When I first got the Tilt I quickly realized that it wasn't quite what I expected and it was a bit plain honestly, after doing quite a bit of research I found that AT T pretty much stripped all of the great features out of the phone when they got their hands on it, and of course like any good company, added all sorts of bloatware onto it. So I took matters into my own hands and wiped it clean, added quite a few things back to it and now I've got the phone that I wanted in the first place. So that's what I'm taking a look at ... Otterbox Laptop Case Accessory Kit Review
More articles from this author:2008-04-17 00:00:00 Otterbox (http://www.otterbox.com) , they offer quality, durability and protection from the elements as well. If you've got a rugged lifestyle, or just need good quality protection for your stuff, then Otterbox has got you covered. I've got, in my opinion, the best laptop case on the market today, at least for protection of my laptop. The Otterbox 7030 Laptop Case protects my laptop from dust, dirt, water, shocks and even from being crushed but there isn't really any space to carry anything else with you but your laptop in the case, there are no pockets or anything like that. Recently Otterbox released an accessory kit for their 7030 Laptop Case, which allows you to now carry pens, pencils, business cards and documents easily inside your Otterbox 7030 laptop case. It's a two piece kit that attaches with velcro to the inside of the lid of the case, the velcro makes it easy to install and remove if not needed.
