2007-01-15 21:29:01 “Hold Your Wee for a Wii ” was the name of a radio competition in California… I doubt I really need to explain what was required, but for the sake of those who are still waking up, the person who could hold their pee longest would win a Nintendo Wii console. …unfortunately for one woman, this led to water intoxication. –> {more} More About: The N , Name

2007-01-15 21:29:01 I had to share this… isn’t this photo just amazing? Unfortunately, it was sad to discover that such an amazing photo is in fact nothing other than a test launch of a missile called the LGM-118A Peacekeeper Missile. To be precise, it is a so-called Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, capable of travelling in excess of 5,000km, a very well suited for the delivery of nuclear warheads [presumably not to friends] Now why would they call such a savage beast of a missile a ‘Peacekeeper’? How about calling it a ‘Silencer’? –> LGM-118A Peacekeeper - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia More About: Photo , Just , This , Share

2007-01-15 21:29:01 25 years old! Would you believe it? At times I still find these things hard to believe… basically the IBM-PC is just about my age now, and when I look at the advancements in the industry, I almost shy away… then again I didn’t have a couple of million individuals solely focused on advancing me :) …and to think that this poor baby is going to die so soon! Face it, the more time goes by, the more the desktop is losing popularity… instead, people are going for handheld solutions or notebooks. I personally have just transitioned to the ‘I-will-only-have-a-notebook-for-a- personal-PC’ phase… and since I have a particular love for large and wide screens [my notebook is 17″ wide-screen]… and am also a pretty power hungry user, I doubt I will ever go for anything smaller than a notebook, thinner maybe… not unless the display as we know it become obsolete, and some funky new visual interface is invented. …especially sin... 2007-01-15 21:29:01 It looks like Microsoft are back on the Inter net browser wagon and waging war on ‘competitors’, very reminiscent of earlier days when Microsoft was battling Netscape out of the market! Folks at Microsoft have informed that IE 8.0 is already in development… who knows what is in store? Though one thing is for sure, if Microsoft want to eat up a market, they sure have the capital to do so. Survival of the fittest I guess! Personally though, when it comes to something like an Internet browser, unless the users are given an easy way of modifying it to their hearts’ content, I seriously doubt IE will ever fully regain it’s stand. Face it, if a ‘community’ is going to be using the browser, then let the ‘community’ define what goes in each individual browser. IE’s offering, though customizable, is eons away from being as customizable as FireFox. A FireFox browser can almost... More About: Back , Soft

2007-01-15 21:29:01 Italian scientists have made a reconstruction of the face of the poet Dante some 700 years after he died and have found some surprises, particularly about the supposed shape of his famous aquiline nose. “It was a surprise for me too,” said Professor Giorgio Gruppioni, an anthropologist at the University of Bologna’s campus in Ravenna, the Adriatic city where Dante is buried. Gruppioni told Reuters in a telephone interview that the multi-disciplinary project discovered that Dante probably did have a hooked nose but it was pudgy rather than pointy and crooked rather than straight, almost as if he had been punched. “We all had our ideas of what Dante looked like. But if this is right, it shows his face was different,” he said. “He looks more like a common man, a man on the street.” –> {more} More About: Scientist , Construction , Italia , Italian , Face

2007-01-15 21:29:01 Apple either didn’t think this through properly, or else, they are so used to being sued that they are actually using it as some sort of viral marketing. Now, not only does Apple have to worry about the Cisco suit, but Nortel is also suing them for using the term ‘Visual Voicemail’ …think about it though. I am no market guru, but say Apple looses both suits, maybe at $5m each… wouldn’t you think that with this exaggerated amount of marketing being produced, that they would eventually make so much money out of it, that a mere $10m will seem silly. Makes sense to me! And seriously, I have set up news watches for most ‘hot’ topics right now, and the iPhone tops them all! (so do the number of blogs here since the expo!) 2007-01-15 21:29:01 MP3 players are everywhere, in all shapes, sizes, colors and storage space imaginable. Yet no matter how much any company tries, there is still one ruler of MP3 players, undoubtedly Apple Computer Inc. Yet some people just don’t give up. The Walletex company have introduced a new MP3 player, identical in size to a credit card… pretty cool, though not as amazing as one might imagine, since after all most of us know that the core of a USB pen drive is indeed way smaller than it’s exterior packaging. My USB pen drive is a mere 1×8x20mm in size. Add to that some MP3 firmware, and you’re almost there! In all honesty, although innovative, I don’t see myself making use of this toy, then again, there might be some who actually dig this, but I can’t imagine myself using it, since even though it is thinner, it is not exactly smaller than most of it’s competitors, plus it only holds up to 2GB of data. Additionally, there is no way I would keep t... More About: Players , Color , Apes , Play , Player

2007-01-15 21:29:01 This is a good one. I wouldn’t say it is an actual joke, more like something worth chewing on. A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them. After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one sideof the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, itwas broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, “Excuse me, where are we?” “This is Heaven, sir,” the man ans... More About: This , Good , Would

More articles from this author:2007-01-15 21:29:01 When I was a kid, my computer often featured some form of pornographic content that sporadically appeared as a result of Spy-ware. On many occasions, I used to try and explain to my mother that they were not of my doing and that I had no idea how they ended up there!! I took some 6 years until my mother became an active Internet user, and nowadays we just look back and laugh at the event, especially since she is suffering from these nuisances herself and nowadays asks me to come and ‘clean’ her PC! Unfortunately for a teacher in Norwich, such spyware found itself on a classroom PC, and displayed pornographic popups during a kids’ classroom session. The verdict has been ‘jail’ for the teacher, even though the school admitted that their Internet filtration software license was expired and was therefore not blocking malicious code any longer. In addition to that, it is also evident that the school’s I.T. department is still not aware of the existe... More About: Computer , Comp , Feature , When , Featured 1, 2, 3, 4 |
