A pill-sized camera which would travel through the gut looking for signs of disease is being developed by scientists.Doctors could eventually use the tiny capsule - just 15mm long - to diagnose cancer.It will contain a micro-chip which functions as a camera, producing pictures which would either be beamed directly to a computer or be collected after the capsule has passed through the body. Doctors would then be able to identify disease in patients.The capsule, which builds on technology developed by NASA to measure temperature inside astronauts' bodies, would take the place of endoscopes traditionally used by doctors to see inside patients.It is hoped the tiny camera will be able to pick up the presence of chemicals, called metabolites, which indicate a particular disease is present.

Researchers at a US laboratory claim to have created the darkest material ever; a carbon nanotube which is one atom thick and rolled into a cylinder. For an object to be completely black, it must absorb all the colors of light over every angle and wavelength while reflecting none back, and scientists at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, may have just gotten one step closer. The team built an array of vertically aligned, low-density nanotubes -- rough on the surface to minimize reflections -- and then measured the optical properties. They discovered that the objects very good at absorbing light, while downright rotten at reflecting it, thus creating a new standard for "blackness." The Matrix M6001 features an LCD screen where the time is displayed as bars. If you take a gander at the pictures, you?ll see that the bigger bars at the top indicate the hour while the smaller bars at the bottom, indicate the minutes in intervals of five. The bottom-left part of the screen is occupied by another bar broken into four, signifying each individual minute. Simple, right? The direct-to-the-point approach is appreciated, although in my opinion, the watch lacks a bit of zing. There's a lot of fancy televisions here at CES, but a company called ad notam caught my eye with a spectacular line of TV's called Mirror Image. These gorgeous LCD screens are built into a flat glass surface, so they disappear seamlessly into a wall or appliance. It's very futuristic looking -- imagine being able to press a button and have a high-definition TV appear out of nowhere in your wall, or even in the vanity in your bathroom. The displays are stunning, and when they're turned off, there's no way of telling that a TV is there -- it just looks like a shiny glass wall, or a mirror. I think they appeal to me so much because they look like the TVs in a million different science fiction movies, screens that are not so much a separate appliance, but just part of a "media wall."

The ring charges in its own custom-sized cradle and has a small OLED display inside the small Apple logo that indicates it?s current status of play or pause, which can then be toggled by touch. Sliding a finger across the ring one way or the other will adjust the volume and the ring can be locked by squeezing your finger to avoid inadvertent touches. According to reports, an Iranian inventor named Ramin Sedighi has created a "talking" e-book, which utilizes a stylus that can be moved across words and then pronounce them out loud. The system can also apparently "explain" pictures, though it's unclear whether or not it uses image recognition or some type of embedded data. The device includes a USB port, audio out, the aforementioned stylus, 512MB of memory, and an SD card slot. Callpod has a new device called the Chargepod which is a 6-way charging contraption that is able to connect to and charge many of your electronic gadgets at once without having multiple cords running from your power strip for each item.
