Google Mobile APP: Searching on an iPhone
2008-07-10 23:34:00
Via Goole BLog , Google Mobile APP is the first native app for the iPhone and iPod touch. It combines powerful Google services with a slick interface, so you can find what you're looking for faster and more easily.Google Mobile Blog says:"Google Mobile App gives you a single text box to search through your contacts and the web. As soon as you start typing, it scours Google for things to help you. These could be typing suggestions, website suggestions or easy access to a search you made before. Google Mobile App even searches as you type so that you see results as soon as you finish typing. Over time, the App remembers the things you do most and puts them at the top. Finally, Google Mobile App also uses the My Location feature to detect your current location and show nearby businesses on a map."

Multiple Drive Support (Plug-in) Comes to S60
2008-06-07 04:22:00
The Multiple Drive Support (MDS) Plug -in for the S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, Feature Pack 2 brings the features of the S60 UI in line with the underlying multiple drive support offered in Symbian OS v9.3.All S60 devices so far have offered multiple drives, however these have been a phone memory drive and a memory card or hard disk drive, both with fixed drive letters. In the future S60 devices may have, in addition to the phone memory, two memory cards or a memory card and built-in mass storage drive. In addition, the drive letters may not be in their current order, which presumably means that the phone memory is no longer guaranteed to be on the C drive.via SymbainOne

Skype for Mobile beta has released
2008-05-06 22:49:00
Skype has released a Java client for mobile phones, compatible with S60 and UIQ devices. While the application looks like a "normal" Skype client known from PC or Windows Mobile , it is not a true VoIP solution as it uses the mobile network (rather than the Internet) to make and receive calls. This means that in addition to your Skype credit, you will also be charged by your network operator for a local call. Call quality is not that great, either, but it's just a beta version so things may get better. To try it yourself, visit http://www.skype.com/m.

Euchre for s60 3rd
2008-04-04 01:32:00
Euchre is a plain-trick card game for four players in fixed partnerships, partners sitting opposite each other. Euchre was probably derived from the game Jucker which was formerly played in Alsace. Euchre reached the USA in the early nineteenth century and was the original game for which the Joker was introduced into the playing-card pack in the 1850s (to serve as the highest trump). Euchre is popular in the US Navy, and it may be through this maritime connection that it travelled in the later nineteenth century from America to other English speaking parts of the world. Certainly in Britain it is mainly found in regions where there has been a strong naval influence. Euchre is a plain-trick game for four players in fixed partnerships, partners sitting opposite. Just 5 cards are dealt to each player and the object is to win at least three of the five tricks - with an extra bonus for winning all five. At one stage Euchre was the number one card game in the United States, more popula...

Verizon Annonces Details on Any App, Any Device Initiative
2008-03-24 06:10:00
Verizon Wireless has unveiled the details on its recently announced 'Any App, Any Device ' initiative, which will allow 3rd party cell phones and applications to be used on the carrier's network.Device manufacturers will be able to develop new devices that can take advantage of Verizon's CDMA/EV-DO network without the device being sold through Verizon's stores. Devices will need to be submitted for testing and certification, which Verizon estimates could take up to 8 weeks. The certification is valid for 36 months, after which the phones will need to be retested. After certification, the manufacturer can market and sell its cell phone, or other device, as they see fit, and will have the opportunity to purchase minutes at wholesale cost from Verizon, if they choose, to package with the device.Application developers will have a similar opportunity, though mobile phone applications will not be restricted based on their purpose. This means that applications circumventing Verizon's ...
