On October 3, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the award of the 2006 Nobel Prize in Physics to John Mather and George Smoot, scientists who explored the background glow from the Big Bang with NASA’s COBE satellite John Mather coordinated the entire process and also had primary responsibility for the experiment that revealed the blackbody form of the microwave background radiation measured by COBE. George Smoot had main responsibility for measuring the small variations in the temperature of the radiation. The cosmic microwave helping us to discover origins of the universe and supports Big-Bang model.
