the future of the internet comes form east
2008-01-19 01:23:00
below is the total internet users by continent…  - Asia 400M users (total population ~ 3.7B)  - Europe 300M users (total population ~ 800M)  - N.America 200M users (300M)    etc note the users from Asia, it is only 10% of the population of 3.7B        It is obvious that the greatest potential for further growth is in Asia. (Especially in China and India) and the main bottleneck in these countries are connectivity and access. and also they heavily need utilities like electric, gas/petrol etc. they can solve partial demand by improving the infrastructure(connectivity, access) in another perspective, the convergence of IT, Telecommunication and media is bringing a revolution in the way information is collected, stored, distributed/accessed. this will reduce direct/indirect cost, increase quality, availability etc.  the result of convergence is the death of - classic media - telecommunication - and classic IT (mono &a...

One more correction in Google?s mission
2008-01-12 00:51:00
From the Google ’s mission statement "we always distinguish ads from the search results or other content on a page. We don't sell placement in the search results themselves, or allow people to pay for a higher ranking there" for a long time, google is self promoting their products in SERP, as long as it is distinguished from Ads then fine. Recently, I was searching about ‘user research’ articles at various sites, there is a link which is always displayed as 2nd rank in the SERP. The link is leading me to Google survey. Even I have filter to look at only microsoft.com. The filter doesn’t work! You can try with any domain. The Google site is always the second :)  Google breaks the rules, when it comes to self promotion?

Fun - Can cell phone replace dish washing, printer, climate control, thermo
2008-01-11 16:43:00
first there was a brick like cell phones, able to make phone calls, then we are able to send/receive text message then the ability to connect with internet - we are able to send/receive emails, music, video, etc whats next?  it may use hybrid technology, wireless charging etc.. watch this fun video :) I guess, in long run cell phones would become a default user interface for the "outsourced mental functions" when we are in the move.

knol - three mangos from a throw of just one stone
2008-01-09 21:07:00
in reponse to post: Yikes. Old School Media Is Hurting Google prediction comes true, welcome to knol, high quality knol contents published in google times! saran more analysis on this.... When google closed “Google Answers”, every was saying that due to the yahoo had better service/crowd. But this is not true. My thought was, google did not make any mistake at that time, the answers business model is a very slow adoption and google NOT able to add advertisement (and advertisement is the soul of google). It was working as commission based model. as far as I know, google wants to organize world information, media content is part of it. media has their own distribution channel (and they also want traffic).  Knol has answer for both, how? Subject/domain experts write articles/post, people ask questions in comments section, it is closely follows google answer model. Media people can create contents(close to real time, google may offer more tools), hence it c...

crawling from images, scanning robots - google
2008-01-09 15:10:00
Google implementing my dream A month ago when I was shopping in a store, I was telling to my wife that, it is really hard to search products in big stores and its expiration date, so we need a software solutions to find the location, stock, expiration date, deal etc and all meta data about the product. She asked me how it can be implemented, I was telling that a cheap “intelligent sticker” should be attached in each product, when we scan it, it has to tell the meta data. So that we can scan the entire store and get the details of all products, let the customer to search it. Recently I have read the recent Google patent, looks like Google has answer with different implementation. There would be shopping robots to scan (photo) products, Google search technology then read the texts from those images "In one implementation, a store (e.g., a grocery store or hardware store) is indexed. Images of items within the store are captured, for example, using a small motorized ve...

Apple share can reach to 600?
2007-12-29 21:19:00
in response to post: How High Can Apple Go? $600 a Share ? How they can reach $600? I don’t know why these people creating hype on Apple, whenever a company becomes successful in short time (ex: Google), its nature to fascinating about it and assuming the same success with other companies. Apple not equal to Google. Google got huge success in short time with some innovation (ex:viral marketing) and more a result of favorable economics, taking a market leadership position at the right time. Apple still doesn’t know about ‘partnership’. How they reach $600? This is possible only when more than 15% PC users switch to Apple. I guess, MS would rule the current PC market share at least for next 5 years, right now they are sleeping King Kong. Let’s see whether Apple can reach to $250. I would invest on companies who build products which connect rich clients with Cloud services, allow the user to move their data around clouds, among devices. They are the one co...

privacy 2.0
2007-12-28 21:23:00
in response to post: Could Google Reader team have done a better PR job? #21 No. its not their decision, pls don’t assume as a Free Product. This is an exchange between users and a company by a “Free relationship”, you give your data free, they give free services and making money on it. It doesn’t mean they can do anything they want. They have more than 90% control on your data, how much control you have? If communities don’t demand for control then the companies decision is the final one, eventually would become a law. privacy is a dynamic and rapidly changing in 21 century. no one has clear definition, people want to make money, hence privacy being defined by trial and error basis. Google using this as a chance for viral marketing and outsourcing their privacy related concerns to users and understanding their reactions/emotions. welcome to privacy 2.0. to me, privacy is something that has to allow ME to determine to whom and when my information is to...

Is India growing up too quickly? NO
2007-12-28 21:22:00
in response to post: Is India adapting to the Night Shift? Is India growing up too quickly? NO  Rich people in india are growing so quickly. AP has asked only to high profile people. But the reality is...Recently, I met my childhood friend, when we were talking about lot of matters, He told that his neighbor sold his kidney for $300. I was shocked, people are willing to sale their body parts. I guess, at least for next 10 years, India would lead in the "organ bazaar". I don't thing poverty ends soon in India (~ 30% of population is living below poverty line vs Indians are keep increasing in the worlds richest list), hence rest of the world get better human bodies till poverty line goes below 10%. Kind rgrds Saran

Google means advertisement ? Google reader
2007-12-26 23:34:00
Here is a one more Google advertisement without spending a single cent, Google recently announced a new feature. To me this is a purposefully “planned” advertisement targeted for people who do not know about Google reader. How many people know Google reader? To my knowledge media and tech people are using it, Gmail got popularity by means of word of mouth, they gave 100 tickets and the network of people started to spread the word, now Google automated that process in Google reader. Slowly Google would release GPC once they reached targeted numbers on Reader crowd and they are the leaders in this space, they know how to initiate, control and finish their “networked marketing”. I guess, roughly they would have targeted for few million new users for G’reader by enabling this feature. Scoble said “Google MEANS Public”, I have to agree. Google means Advertisement , Advertisement targeted for public, and hence Google means Public. But I do no...

Web Science - memento
2007-12-20 23:46:00
I believe every living thing in the word has ability to store information outside the brain to communicate, remember etc. Humans store/convey information by drawing, talk, writing, recently by digital form. By default, human brain is an imperfect object (problem 1) – the information may lost over time, limitation in remembering things etc. The way brain stores/retrieves information is so complex process. Recently web is a powerful medium to store/communicate idea/thought etc. A person can communicate himself, for example a thought/idea is communicated within one self. It may be within the brain boundary (Ex: a dream) or may extended to one’s mouth (ex; self talk), Or may be outside the physical body (Writing in diary, personal note etc). Or A person/group of people communicate to other person or group. In either case, when the information stored/communicated outside the physical body, technologies comes into play to solve the brains limitation or to “outsource men...
