Pogo iPhone Stylus
2008-04-02 05:00:00
In case you haven’t noticed the iPhone’s glassy touch sensitive screen is only sensitive to your stubby little fingers. This is because it uses a technology called capacitive touch which measures the flow of electrons through your skin. Problem is, last time we checked our fingers were pretty rounded and not too precise at picking out tiny URLs in Safari. Luckily the geniuses behind the Pogo iPhone Stylus have magically solved this problem by making a stylus that somehow tricks the iPhone into thinking it’s really a finger. What’s more, the tip of the stylus is a soft felt like material that has the added benefit of keeping your screen clean while you tap away. How do they do it? Frankly we’re not sure, but hopefully it doesn’t involve grave-robbing. Product Features Specially designed stylus works with iPhone and iPod Touch Enables precision selection of on-screen items Included clip keeps the Pogo Stylus handy Soft tip material keeps your scree...

2008-04-01 18:43:00
snes4iphone v1.5.0 has now been released to beta testers at ZodTTD.com. This build is very special as it marks what is soon to be a trend in the following weeks…performance increases! This is largely due to the great strides saurik made while updating the tools I use to develop with. With some fixes made plus the new toolchain, some users have reported a 50% increase in performance of snes4iphone! Snes4iphone is a Sega Genesis and Sega CD emulator for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. It is currently available via Installer.app courtesy of the Community Sources at ModMyiFone.com. It is also available at the official ZodTTD.com repo. Manual downloads are being posted and will be available shortly. They’ve also been working on getting sound introduced into snes4iphone though it’s been an uphill battle. I can emulate and mix the sound, but for some reason it just outputs silence. More work is needed, but it at least is being worked on. Notice: Desinformado.com is ...

plasticstare.com: Enabling hiragana katakana kanji on the iphone (japanese
2008-04-01 13:08:00
Here is a really quick and rough tutorial for enabling the Japanese keyboard on your iPhone, which allows you to type in hiragana, katakana, and kanji. For some reason, even though there is rumor that the iPhone will be making its way sometime not too far from now to Japan, the Japanese language keyboard is not enabled on the device, though its functionality is clearly working and arguably ready to go. (Thanks to the info http://web.mac.com/mac_scott/ and some others for getting me the necessary steps to get this working.) This assumes that you aren’t afraid to get your hand a little dirty with some command line action on your iPhone. I also claim no responsibility for what *may* happen when performing this task. I’m not sure what damage you could do if things get ugly, so proceed with caution. This addresses the problem that I ran into, wherein I cannot login to the Term-vt100 app for the iPhone, so I had to get creative about how to change a file to enable the Japanese keyboa...

2008-03-19 20:56:00
Apple’s iPhone will soon receive a more enterprise-friendly version of firmware and security enhancements, resulting in Gartner , Inc. recommending “appliance-level” support status once the improvements are released. During the initial launch of the iPhone, Gartner analysts expressed concern over some security issues with the device, but recently announced enhancements, expected to be delivered in June 2008, have caused Gartner to change its recommendation. “Appliance-level” status permits the iPhone to be used for PIM, e-mail, telephony and browsing applications. It also permits the device to be used for other dedicated functions where the software is supplied by a third party, functionality is kept to a restricted set, the software supplier offers support for a backup platform and IT development resources are not needed to program custom code locally residing on the device. “In its initial release, the iPhone was, with few exceptions, an Internet tablet with browser-bas...
