Project Atmosphere - The $25 Million Dollar Challenge
2007-02-08 16:00:00 Richard Branson and Al Gore, two of the most famous rich and political people to undertake a battle against pollution and global warming. They are now offering a considerable sum to the man or group of people who can find a solution to clean up the atmosphere. The challenge is being offered with a 5 year time span. Mr. Branson said it would be the happiest check he has ever written out. These two men are serious and are trying to create a political and fanatical movement that will solve the “World’s Dilemma.” The most positive factor this will generate is a frenzy of engineers and free thinkers that will strive to win the prize and ultimately the fame as saving the world from pollution. In doing so they will innovate and create new technologies that do just more than clean the atmosphere. Being able to clean the air might lead to a air recycling unit that could help with Space Travel and the one commodity currently only available on Earth. The possibilities are endless and... Mobile Google rivals
2007-02-07 15:41:00 Seven leading european mobile phone networks will discuss next week the possibility to create their own mobile phone search engine that could rival Yahoo! and Googl e . At the 3GSM in Barcelona - the industry’s biggest annual trade show, mobile giants like O2, France Telecom and Vodafone will try to find the answer of the declining revenues. A joint approach is essential, because if they are to rival the US search giants, the European network operators will need to offer advertisers a large audience. The operators may decide to ask an existing search engine, such as Yahoo! or Google to provide the service for all the networks. There is another option - creating a white label service, with a single advertising sales house and technical team, to which mobile networks could then apply their own brand. At the moment Google’s search engine is used by Vodafone, T-mobile, China mobile and Hutchison’s 3, but it does not make money, because it hasn’t started selling sp... Olympus SP-550
2007-02-07 15:26:00 It took some time for the guys at Olympus to get together and propose something really attracting to the clients, and it seems like they finally did it. And here it is - Olympus’s most ambitious - the SP-550 Ultra Zoom. The SP-550 UZ promises to be one of the most interesting new offers, as it is the only compact digital camera to date which has a 18x (28 - 504mm equivalent) optical zoom, ranging from a true wide-angle to a long telephoto .And considering the record-breaking zoom range, the capability of focusing objects as close as 1cm is truly amazing. Aside from the zoom and the macro, the f/2.8 - 4.5 lens also uses high-refractive, aspherical and extra-low dispersion (ED) elements, and now, for the first time in Olympus cameras, you get Dual - Image stabilization. The first one of them, the software-based Digital Image Stabilization, a well known method for Olympus, boosts ISO sensitivity to gain a faster shutter speed, which helps freezing subject motions. Blackjack Attack - SGH-i607
2007-02-01 14:41:00 If unveiling a new iPhone wasn’t enough Cingular has covered all bases by releasing a Samsung smartphone called the Blackjack (also known as SGH-i607). The immediate visual of the phone reminds you of a treo merged with a blackberry. The tiny keyboard and square touch screen at the top offering a very slim and light design that is sure to please users. It will definitely fill the gap the iPhone will create for those seeking a physical keyboard and the price is average, only $200 with a contract. It comes with most of the standard features such as email, a viewer for the the Mircrosoft Suite of products. Most of the critques had good things to say about the new phone. A few of the cons were a small keyboard (clearly), not being able to edit the mircrosoft suite applications and a missing headset connection. Most of these are not serious enough to turn buyers away. The one difficulty that is easiest to spot is the visibilty under bright lights. For a much cheaper price tag and l... More About: Lack , Attack , Atta

Sony VAIO G11-series in Europe
2007-02-01 14:25:00 Yesterday Sony announced the release of their VAIO G11-series in Europe . After releasing it in Japan, it looks like it is time for the new carbon fiber gem to arrive in Europe as well. And yes, I did say carbon fiber, which is one of the most interesting ideas that Sony interpreted in their new business model. The new layered carbon fiber construction helped to get the model extremely lightweight (1.12 kg.), compact, and not only that, but you can also wander at its exceptional durability. Sony tests showed great results at dropping the G11 from 72cm with the system on and 90cm when powered down. Of course, Sony does not guarantee against PC damage, malfunction or data loss when dropped from this height. One of the other great features you’ll encounter in the model is the battery which can now last up to 9 hours. A stunning battery life like this, of course, is achieved not only by the battery itself. VAIO engineers selected the latest Intel® Ultra-Low Voltage (ULV) processor for... Blu-ray vs. HD DVD - The gloves are off!
2007-02-01 12:53:00 Many people remember the struggles of Beta-max and VHS, VHS ultimately winning over the crowd just as the DVD era came forth and made VHS a thing of the past. Now a new battle is ensuing and it will be a very memorable battle. The sexy Playstation 3 has taken sides, of course, with Blu-ray and will help solidify a position with the younger generation; it will definitely push millions of Blu-ray sales. While Microsoft’s Xbox is hitting back on both fronts, adding HD capability to their console and hitting the personal computer industry as well. The question is will either one win out? Will technological change occur to quickly in the ensuing months causing DVD’s to become extinct, buried in the dirt with the VHS? Whatever the problem is certain companies are taking an indifferent stand. NVIDIA is one such company. Creating technology that can play both Blu-ray and HD-DVDs! 2007-02-01 01:19:00 Millions of people over the century have undertaken voyages and long sacred treks to holy lands to find the key to a peaceful life with hopes of something more, another life, a second chance and now the virtual world is encroaching on reality and offering up the Internet community a new way to interact in Internet communities. Second life is a virtual world much like a SIMs or Ever Quest type of video game with a twist of reality. You join and build your character and begin living, choose a profession and earn money (virtual money) which can then be used to buy other things throughout the game. Build a home, hotel, shopping mall. They even offer islands up for sale where you can build your world class resort. The Free Market & Price Goucher’s
2007-01-31 11:49:00 Ever since the world of eBay, we have seen a growing trend of average Joes’ opening up small shops and part time jobs to supplement their income. It has created a new economy in which many thousands are thriving. As profits and sales increase so to did eBay’s costs. First it began with very small increments and expected increases. Then came the double the inventory fee listings and increased closing costs of near 10%. With eBay taking 6-10% and then Paypal taking an additional 3%, it leaves very little for their clients. The marketplace is flooded with people trying to make an extra $100 and it is pushing people out. It stands to reason that when there is big money to be made and little regulations those with the bigger stick prevail as in the oil industries, CEO salaries, and the Internet moguls. What will happen if the government passes the multi state tax for Internet sales? Thousands will drop off and eBay will be faced with a crisis. They cannot raise prices and the... Wii Wii Wii all the Way Home
2007-01-31 09:32:00 There are many millions of people who enjoyed the original Atari and Nintendo games. Simple challenging games that you could play for 10-20 minutes and enjoy yourself. The new Nintendo Wii is bringing back some of those unique qualities. With its simply designed controllers and light fun and smart games it is attracting a different crowd and is selling millions of units. Another raving feature is the ability to download old video games from the game cube all the way back to the Nintendo. For less than $10 you can enjoy your favorite original games and use the original style Nintendo controller to match as well. In addition to the new controller and nostalgic gaming arena it has newer games with great graphics, no HD mind you, but still great for a system that only costs $250. Which is another reason it beats the Blue Ray HD playing P3, price point and availability. The PS3 is still hard to obtain, but the Wii is showing up on shelves more and more. Haier - Black Pearl
2007-01-30 18:41:00 This small but unusually thin mobile phone with its rounded edges and glossy finish provides an attractive but candy-bar like appearance. But this candy-bar is packed full of surprises. With a in-build MP3 player and FM-radio and a rather handy Dictaphone for those very important thoughts you might have whilst traveling, like reminding yourself to pay the phone bill. I was surprised to discover the size of the phones in-built memory which was a tiny 128MB, which is to hold all your contacts, recordings and MP3. With memory being so inexpensive these days i was disappointed to say the least. But there is hope, as this phone has a micro SD flash slot that supports up to 1GB. Connecting the phone to your computer is made easy by supporting both USB and bluetooth, so getting those songs uploaded is not going to be a problem. With its Li-Ion battery this candy-bar like phone is boosting an impressive 3 hour talk time with a 200 hour standby and more than 11 hours of listening to you...
