Wrapping up the week, here are some stories you might have missed. os upgrade: wm 6.1 for the sprint mogul?

First this is not an authorized release by any means so with that in mind use at your own risk. The folks over at WM Experts have noted a working version of WM 6.1 running on a Sprint Mogul .Now all of the features do not work with this leaked release but it does show some of the additions we can expect once the full version is released. The addition of native threaded SMS (pictured below) is a big plus, and some have reported EVDO Rev. A is added along with GPS. Based on past information Sprint is supposed to release an updated rom for the Mogul sometime in Q1. So if you can not wait for Sprint, head on over and read up. news: palm ranks 2nd in wm pro market share

Palm? Yes Palm! Although lets not get to excited. They currently hold a 10% market share when it comes to WM Professional (touchscreen) devices, while HTC currently holds over 50%. Samsung and Asustek Computer round out the top 4, coming in under the 10% level. While Palm has had its fair share of troubles over the past couple of years, their presence in the WM market has been relatively short and this could be just the news they need to keep them moving in the right direction.Thanks: DigiTimes

news: htc touch reaches 2 million sales

While the popularity of the iPhone has been in a word, successful, it has not been the only successful device on the street. HTC's Touch has hit the 2,000,000 sale mark and unlike the success of the iPhone, the HTC Touch is not a ground breaking OS like Apple produced. WM is still about the same as it was for the past few years. HTC has taken the same product, catered not only to the business world but to users as a whole, and ran with it successfully. gmail: imap now working for windows mobile

Finally some great news out of the Gmail camp. IMAP email, which since its inception has not properly worked well with HTML email on WM6 devices (emails coming up blank), has now been fixed. HTML email now appears including images, embedded links, and more. So if you haven't used Gmail on WM because of this issue you can now be assured things are working normally.

For our friends across the pond, Palm has released the Treo 500. At £269.00 (USD $532.00) this device does not pack the punch that many power users would be looking for. WM Standard 6.0, GSM bands 900/1800/1900, UMTS band 2100, Bluetooth 2.0 and that is about it. The device does keep with Palms newer slimmed down approach however while I think it looks ascetically pleasing, it is the on board features that may keep this from being a fast mover on the shelves.No final word if we will see this come state side in the near future. So by now you have probably heard the swarming rumors about the upcoming Treo device. First I would graciously like to say welcome back to Mobile Days . A lot of adversity and some major problems to overcome but I must say I am happy to bring Mobile Days back and hopefully for good this time.While some of the adversity was my own fault, losing the data that I had was not. Unfortunately I am still at this point unsure if the information I had can be brought back. I will continue in my efforts to pursue the loss but for now a new beginning is inevitable.I will say through all of this it has been a learning experience and hopefully one I can grow from.I look forward to bringing you the very best of Windows Mobile information, hopefully for many days forward.
