This Campaign encourages individuals, children and youth groups, farmers, schools, communities, business and industry, civil society organizations and governments to enter tree planting pledges on the online form with the objective of planting at least one billion trees worldwide during 2007.The Billion Tree Campaign was inspired by Professor Wangari Maathai. She is the founder of Kenya's Green Belt Movement. This organization has planted more than 30 million trees in 12 African countries since 1977.
