Plugged in my digital camera today to download some pictures and I found a picture I took a few weeks ago. I forgot I had taken it but after seeing it, I realized it was a close up of the tree in my backyard. I just think it is the coolest picture.

Remote into your Macintosh from Windows

I discovered this great video how to on the net. It demonstrates how to setup remote desktop on the Mac intosh for free, no need for apple remote desktop. It also allows you to control your Macintosh via a Wind ows machine. I have configured my Macintosh this way and it works great. I setup everything on a thumb drive so I can take it with me anywhere. On your windows, machine download puttygen.exe from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtath am/putty/ Generate a private key file and save it on your thumb drive also save your public key file and copy it to the Macintosh you want to control. On your Macintosh, copy the “publickey.txt file you created in step 2 to your user directory. Make sure that port 22 is open to this Macintosh if you have any firewall in place Open terminal (applications/utilities) and type “mkdir .ssh” to create the .ssh folder Type “chmod 700 .ssh” Type “mv publickey.txt .ssh/authorized_keys...

Chicago gets iMacs

I setup the new iMac s in Chica go . My crazy traveling new year is done. It have been a traveling fool thus for this New Year, but with the Chicago classrooms being done. I get to stay home for a while I hope. Just this year I have been to Louisiana, (well that was not for work it was to spend time with a lovely family), San Diego, Washington, two trips to Chicago and of course I setup iMacs in Atlanta. Hopefully I can get back to normal now and focus on my goal for the year.

Snowy Day in Chicago

I am in Chica go setting up our Adobe training classrooms. It has been snowing all day. This is the first time I get to drive in so much snow, well really this is only the second time I drive in snow; the other time was in Atlanta. I have a friend that might remember that time, as I had to give him a ride to work. (zing intended) Just trying to keep warm and get home for company this weekend. Final Cut Pro Easter Egg

Bruce the Yak in Final Cut Pro 5.1. To get to this easter egg, Open up your video scopes (tools menu - video Scopes) Control click on the vectorscope area then choose magnify do it again then control click and double click on magnify. If you do it just right a little patch of grass will come out and then along will come Bruce the Yak. If you are patientBruce will bubble up some words of wisdom.

Nintendo Wii

Woke up extra early to freeze my butt off outside Circuit City this morning but it paid off I was able to score myself a Nintendo Wii . I was number eight in line and they only had fifteen. I played my younger brother's Wii last weekend while in Louisiana and decided to get one. I am not really a big gamer but this thing is great, kind of reminds me of the simpler games of my childhood. Wii Sports is great, mostly bowling. I also purchased Zelda:Twilight Princess it is good so far but I have only played it for an hour. Arlington National Cemetery

In Washington, DC this week finishing the setup of our new DC classroom. Since I am staying in Crystal City and Arli ngton Nation al Cemetery is on the way, I decided to stop by and see JFK’s gravesite and the Tomb of the unknowns or my way back to the hotel this afternoon. I did not realize how massive this cemetery is. I think this was a great time to visit; the fall foliage was beautiful, it was a very solemn experience.

Spent the week in DC setting up our Washington DC Adobe, Apple, Quark training classrooms. Our classrooms are at 17th and I (eye as the natives call it) about two blocks from the White House. This is the first classroom we setup with intel iMacs and the “coolness factor” of the room is great. I set them up to dual boot OS X and Windows XP. They make for such a clean and uncluttered classroom nothing under the desk. Check out the pictures.

More Painting

Spent Thursday night and most of today painting. Thursday night I painted my downstairs bathroom Lemon Whip. The picture does not really do this color justice; it is a nice neutral yellow. Friday I took off of work and hired a professional painter to paint my foyer Fossil Butte, since it is 2 stories and I was a little chicken to climb twenty feet in the air. I also had her put up a blind so my neighbors can not peek on me anymore, not that it really matters I have been living here over three years with no blind so the whole world could see in. Today I painted the upstairs hallway Fossil Butte as well. The picture is not all I painted the hallway goes the other way as well kind of “L” shaped.

Stone Mountain Park

Enjoyed the beautiful weather on September 30, 2006 at Stone Mount ain Park  with my Mom, Sister and Elizabeth. I always seem to like this part of the year the best. The cooler weather is always a blessing after the hot summers here. Well “hot” is relative, not as hot and humid as the summer of my youth growing up in Louisiana.

Medieval Times Atlanta

We decided to check out the new Medieval Time s that opened at Discover Mills. This is my second visit to a Medieval Times . It is a little expensive but it is a great show. The décor is awesome and the staff very friendly; but be prepared to eat with no silverware. There is really no bad seat in the house but if it is your first time it is worth paying the extra ten bucks to get front row seats. We had a great time cheering on our red and yellow knight. Though he did not win we enjoyed the show just the same. I snapped a ton of photos.

Dual tuner tivo upgrade

I have been a Tivo fan for a while so I was excited today to see the UPS man left me my new dual tuner Tivo. First thing I have to upgrade it 80 hours will not do. I got a 300 gig HD from Compusa for $57.00 after $10.00 mail in rebate. I got the Tivo from Amazon.com for $45.00 after a $20.00 coupon I had and a $150 mail in rebate from Tivo. Now on to the upgrade, I have documented the very easy process with pictures and instructions. Step one: Make sure you have basic computer knowledge (setting jumpers on IDE Hard drives, not being afraid to take electronics apart) Step two: Download Instant Cake from http://www.ptvupgrade.com make sure you download the correct version for the Tivo you have. Was invited to the Atlanta Falcon s preseason game tonight. It was a good game but we lost 20 – 17 against the Jacksonville Jaguar s. I think I am going to stop going to our home town team games as they seem to lose when I am there.

Productive weekend Painting

I did some major painting and a furniture rearrangement this weekend. I first started by paint my horrible bright orange bathroom to a more respectable green. I next painted my downstairs bedroom (turning it in to my computer room now) Skyline Steel. I moved my bowflex and computer desk downstairs to this newly painted room. That cleared out my upstairs middle bedroom which I painted Kashmir Pink (pic 2). All in all a very productive weekend. Hopefully next weekend will be as productive when I will be back in DC to move our DC classroom.

Ruby Falls and Rock City Chattanooga, TN

Woke up early this morning and trekked up to Chat tanooga, TN with my Mom and little Sister. We spent the day at Ruby Falls and Rock City . It was great to spend time with just my Mom and Sis. We took lots of pictures.   I have been to Ruby Falls before but it was my Sisters first time I think she was pretty amazed when they turned on the lights and she saw the waterfall. It was both Dorian’s (my sister) and my first time to Rock City. My Mother had been when she was like seven or eight years old it was neat to listen to the way she remembered it.

After fighting my way passed the new airport security measures I flew into Wash ington , DC this morning. I made my way around the nations capital a bit. I stopped by the National Aquarium. It was ok, I am glad it was only $5.00 to get in. I also made my way to the Washing ton Monument, the front of The White House, as well as the Capitol. I snapped a few pictures along the way. This is not my first time to DC, it is just the first time I had a little extra time to explore. If this silly hotel internet connection starts working better I will upload the pictures today, if not I will post them when I get to our office tomorrow.

Lost and Found

I was a little bummed about a year ago when I thought I had lost my High School graduation ring. Well not really lost it I really thought it was stolen, but that is a different story. Not that a graduation ring is worth much to anyone but the person that earned it (it has my name on it), it was claimed to have been taken for some sort of revenge I guess. So I have spent the last year a little sad that it was gone, but the other night I was cleaning out a “junk drawer” (we all have them) and lo and behold there it was. My ring had been hiding in the drawer all along (the picture is the exact way I found it, it was under several layers of papers). I did not realize how much weight I have lost since high school, because the ring does not stay on my finger any more it just falls off. I can almost wear it on my thumb.

Apple’s world wide developer conference kicked off today and Mr. Steve gave the keynote. Apple released the much anticipated Intel based Mac Pro. Check out the specs on this thing. The Xserve was updated top sport the Intel chip as well. They also showcased there upcoming Mac OS “Leopard” and reduced the price of there 30 inch cinema display.

I decided a few weeks ago to give my website a little face lift. Over the pass couple of days I have slowly ported all of my pages on www.damonledet.com to my new design. My hope is that this weekend I will update my blog to version 1.12 and give it the new refreshed look as well. As for the vacation I took this weekend I can say I had a great time. I got very sick Friday (something I ate I think) and spent most of the night and day Saturday in a very ill state. To make matters more interesting Delta was suppose to get me back to Atlanta at 10:14 PM Sunday night, but as luck would have it I did not get in until 1:30 AM Monday morning. I was not happy with them to say the least; I had to train Flash video Monday morning. That was the bad, the vacation however was great. I was able to spend time with the girl I love, which always seems to make the bad things just disappear.

After installing Blog CFM 1.12 and seeing how much I had changed and how little it had changed I decide to stay with the current version I am running. I have now completed my transformation of both www.damonledet.com and blog.damonledet.com. I also decided to set myself of a MSN spaces account today as well at http://damonledet.spaces.msn.com/. It is ok, you can tell it is a Microsoft product; it has a close feel to Sharepoint the way you can drag and drop components around.

that time of year again

Alright boys and girls it is that time of the year again. I know I am a couple of days late, part of the joy of having Tivo. Big Brother 7 started Wednesday night. This is the only reality television show I have ever got into. Well really I am not a big television person, the only shows I enjoy are Deadwood, any Law and Order, and of course The Sopranos. Even though I would have liked Jee to return from Big Brother 4; there is enough “old timers” that I remember to make it very interesting. Let the back stabbing begin. Coldfusion 7.0.2 update available

Adobe software engineers have been hard at work. Adobe yesterday announced the release of both Adobe Flex and Adobe Flash player 9. Also this morning the coldfusion 7.0.2 update was posted, mostly flex integration. I of course have updated the webserver this morning. Of course the server needed to be rebooted, so this is what caused my slight downtime this morning. Currently I am in Park Ridge, IL until Thursday June 29 - Training Adobe Encore DVD and Director MX 2004.
