Did you know about this ? Nostradamus has perdicted that World War III would be from 2007 till 2012. That means we are now in the starting year of World War III ! I say "garbage" because an ordinary surfer would be baffled by the websites' content that really has no relevant information on global warming awareness. Microsoft has released a really hot new search called Ms Dewey which is actually based on Live Search. This seems to have been out last year (but not publically), but I seem to have missed it. Im sure how why this was released, but Dewey seems to take a very long time to think over the results and the they are the same as Live search. So far Google has been into fetching results based on relevancy of the pages/sites - based on number of hits, pagerank, popularity etc, but not a linguistic search. At first I thought, Ms Dewey may be able to actually read the search terms as a sentence but it didn't seem that way. This just looks like a Vista promotion with its cool black looks.I like the idea that you get entertained with a non-animated character while searching for long minutes for the right click. Windows Vista was finally released to the consumer-market a few days ago. And its all over the news that the Microsoft took almost 6 yrs with 8000 staff to come up with version of the operating system, costing about 6 billion dollars. For a billion a year, Vista better not be a hype :)Do good products normally fall behind schedule ? Irrespective of deadlines, how come it takes so much time to create the next major version of their product when the previous versions didn't take so drastically long to develop ? There have been a lot of criticisms on Microsoft's delay in Vista. The problem with a few organizations is that, when they try to go for a re-engineering of their product's next major version, they spend more time developing a new framework from ground up and not having parallelly developed and released minor upgrades to their lastest version. Today, its pretty rare to find sites that say This site works only in Internet Explorer (IE). Some like Windows Update require IE since it can't update through the browser without the use of Microsoft's legendary ActiveX controls. Accepted. But if a site insists on ActiveX controls and shows up a Doesn't-work-in-this-browser page for non IE browsers, its NOT ok. With alternates like Flash, Javascript and SVG, the webpage can be better optimized.Websol is a Mumbai based IT firm and frequently post job-postings on Indian job boards. I checked out their site [http://www.websol.co.in/] long ago and today I went back to their site to check it again, only to find the issue still hangs around. Mumbai: Today, I caught up with my old friend of mine, Saurav Guha Maulik, my school classmate almost throughout the 90s. He is one of those very few guys I used to hang around with in Calcutta. I cannot recollect the number of times we both walked all the way from school to our homes in Lake Gardens, an 8 km long journey. At the time, time existed till infinity. Last week has been hectic. My parents moved to a new apartment (oh...Im still living with them for the time being) very close to previous rented apartment in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra State.Internet is now an issue at the current location (even though its just a couple of lanes away from the old location - 2 sectors away to be precise) since my most-wanted-ISP, YouTeleCom, doesn't seem to have the coverage. Currently using Sify , one of India's major ISP providers, at 256kbps. Im not so sure if they are doing this to avoid piracy or something, but the upload limit for all schemes is capped to 64kbps and quite often I get the message Your session is over. Please Login again ! So long use of uninteruppted internet connectivity is just impossible. Morevoer, the oscar winner of all error messages BB101 - Unable to reach the gateway is probably best suited for those stress intolerant people. Sify ISP's error messages will either replace Yoga or will lead to Yoga - either one is b...

So we all now know about Borat , the new Andy Kaufman, after his movie Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. But how famous has Borat become on Google ? So famous that if you type "myspace" in Google, the second entry is Borat's MySpace profile !I cross checked with all of Google's servers and the result was the same : 2nd position [29th Dec 2006] after which the rest of the main myspace links show up like vids.myspace.com, login.myspace.com, music.myspace.com, collect.myspace.com and home.myspace.com ! We all know that the reason behind outsourcing to India is because of cheap labour. Most western-country companies find it very economical to outsource to India. For $500 a month for a college fresher in the IT industry, its definitely 10 to 20 times cheaper than hiring locally.My friend Baiju has given me a very good explanation to why the real reason for the success of outsourcing (in IT field) is piracy:Cyber law in India is at the infant stage and was totally non-existent till 2005. Ordinary policemen here would've at the most seen a computer and know the only IT words - 'computer' and 'internet'. Even if they did know how to switch it on, they definitely wouldn't get far enough to check the genuineness of Windows. Spam is now skyrocketing never like before. Its been the latest talked about issue for some time now. We are all dealing with a great amount of spam these days and blocking email addresses or entire domain names are not going to help in the long run for the end user. Email services like Gmail, Y! and MSN have are spending tons on anti-spam algorithms.Recent trend is spam emails are sending in an image containing the spam text while the text within the email contains actual well-formed sentences, on mostly general-knowledge that has nothing to do with you. Email text no longer has words like 'viagra' or 'broker', but real meaningful sentences. Website.in Domain Name Expiration

One of my .org domain names expired sometime back. Infact I was waiting for it to expire and buy it again using using Website .in's .org promo which ends on 31st December 2006. The promo gets you to buy .org (also .info) domain names for $2.15 which comes to around Rs 96 - for the entire year ! Thats a pretty good deal for less than a hundred bucks here. Since I had no website associated with it and wasn't really afraid of anyone backordering it since the name is really not worth it except for me. I waited right till the end of pendingDelete period to have it back into the available pool list. To my surprise, I found that Website has renewed the domain name under their behalf while the control is still in my hands. I still have the option of renewing the domain name in my control panel.
