Adwords for Indian City names
2007-03-25 16:28:00 Google has a Keyword Tool thats seems to be the beginning of the ending of Overture's Bid Tool.It has an interesting feature called Cost and ad position estimates which states that :Review the predicted status, average cost-per-click, ad position, and search volume values for ads appearing for your keywords. The estimates provided are based upon the maximum CPC you enter. So if you are willing to spend a maximum of 0.5 USD per click for the keyword Kerala, you'll get suggested values forEstimated Average CPC and Estimated Ad Position for the given keyword and related keywords from Google's algorithm.I had a list of potential keywords & their max CPC value and ran through the tool to retrieve their related/suggested keywords.I then checked for occurrences of Indian state/city/district names in the list of related keywords.Note : This list does not show the average CPC for Indian city names - because it varies based on the maximum CPC for a keyword that we enter. This is just the... Shoutmouth = Music Digg ?
2007-03-12 13:38:00 Site Review : shoutmouth.comOver the last couple of years, a lot of bookmarking sites have sprung up. Digg .com, Reddit.com, del.icio.us are some of the famous ones. All of them are general news sites which is a listing of popular links bookmarked by the community in general.A new and similar site called Shout mouth is following the trend of community driven websites. But this one is streamlined to showcase music news only with categories set to genre. I think the next wave of community driven sites would be focused on a specific type of news rather than general ones. Though still in beta, the simplicity of the website is what makes the navigation easy. No complex sidebars with flashy ads and the like which makes it difficult to differentiate between the main content and the rest - just the category index and the most popular ones and the news listing in the middle. This is one of the few sites that I've come across thats built on the Xaraya Content Management System.Though there is a... 2007 = Start of World War III ?
2007-03-12 11:46:00 Did you know about this ? Nostradamus has perdicted that World War III would be from 2007 till 2012. That means we are now in the starting year of World War III ! This isn't really all that hard-to-believe for we all know the chaos that was created in the last half decade between the Gulf and the US. But I still find it difficult to gulp down the fact that it would be in this year that a world war would be ignited. With the level of high-tech machines available that are capable for mass destruction, we'll be back to stone-age if a world war breaks out. There are many reasons for many to fear of an upcoming world war. Here are some of the main reasons.Iraq warIran's Nuclear Weapon ProgrammeIndia and Pakistan's ongoing fight over the J&K issueIsrael's tensions [ Arab-Israeli conflict, Israel-Gaza conflict, Israel-Lebanon conflict ]Osama Bin Laden's comeback ?With threats from outer space about comets and the like crashing into earth in the next couple of years or so - thats enoug... GlobalWarming Awareness2007
2007-02-22 18:45:00 The US government party, The Democrats and its supporters will not be happy to find that an internet search on Global Warming Aware ness 2007 is leading to a pile of garbage. I say "garbage" because an ordinary surfer would be baffled by the websites' content that really has no relevant information on global warming awareness. Instead, most of the top 100 results (out of over 2.5 million results) on Google are all related to a recent SEO Contest called SEO World Championship. The challenge is optimize a site for the phrase "globalwarming awareness2007". And one of the rules is that the domain should've been registered on or after 15th Jan 07. Its been just over a month since the launch of the contest and a google search on the phrase "globalwarming awareness2007" already yields 1.33 million results ! Now thats a lot of combined SEO done ! This Q1's maximum revenue for domain registrars has got to be from this contest !The contest presumably ends on On May 1st, 2007 since its on th... Recommended Webhosting Solutions for Indian Individuals
2007-02-22 12:40:00 I've been with a few web-hosts over the last 3 years. Opinions on web-hosting companies will always vary from one individual to another based on a million factors. If you want to swim in the ocean of web-hosting discussions/opinions/views/comments/exper iences dive into WebHostingTalk (WBT) - You can't find a better place to research. Here is a list of low-budget quality shared web-hosting solutions that I would recommend for Indian individuals, startups, students, experimenters and developers who want to build a small or medium size dynamic website. I use the first two for my personal websites. The others I've been on, were either my clients' or friend's. Theres no rating and all that - just good ones IMHO. This is one provider that probably has 0 negative reviews at WBT. The guy behind this, Tim Dorr, has been upfront on everything. The best (and probably most attractive) part of this is that there are only 2 limits on their schemes - space and data transfer.Everything else is u... The Hot Ms.Dewey
2007-02-14 16:13:00 Microsoft has released a really hot new search called Ms Dewey which is actually based on Live Search. This seems to have been out last year (but not publically), but I seem to have missed it. Im sure how why this was released, but Dewey seems to take a very long time to think over the results and the they are the same as Live search. So far Google has been into fetching results based on relevancy of the pages/sites - based on number of hits, pagerank, popularity etc, but not a linguistic search. At first I thought, Ms Dewey may be able to actually read the search terms as a sentence but it didn't seem that way. This just looks like a Vista promotion with its cool black looks.I like the idea that you get entertained with a non-animated character while searching for long minutes for the right click. And if the Dewey is not on focus for a long time, she calls us back, saying "Helloooo", or "Type something here" or by knocking on the glass pane which is quite annoying. There should'v... Windows Vista and Drupal
2007-02-03 16:51:00 Windows Vista was finally released to the consumer-market a few days ago. And its all over the news that the Microsoft took almost 6 yrs with 8000 staff to come up with version of the operating system, costing about 6 billion dollars. For a billion a year, Vista better not be a hype :)Do good products normally fall behind schedule ? Irrespective of deadlines, how come it takes so much time to create the next major version of their product when the previous versions didn't take so drastically long to develop ? There have been a lot of criticisms on Microsoft's delay in Vista. The problem with a few organizations is that, when they try to go for a re-engineering of their product's next major version, they spend more time developing a new framework from ground up and not having parallelly developed and released minor upgrades to their lastest version. Microsoft took the former strategy and expected users to dive right into Vista after using the 5yr old XP. Old may not be gold in sof... More About: Windows , Windows Vista , Drupal

Works only in IE Browser
2007-01-17 16:37:00 Today, its pretty rare to find sites that say This site works only in Internet Explorer (IE). Some like Windows Update require IE since it can't update through the browser without the use of Microsoft's legendary ActiveX controls. Accepted. But if a site insists on ActiveX controls and shows up a Doesn't-work-in-this-browser page for non IE browsers, its NOT ok. With alternates like Flash, Javascript and SVG, the webpage can be better optimized.Websol is a Mumbai based IT firm and frequently post job-postings on Indian job boards. I checked out their site [http://www.websol.co.in/] long ago and today I went back to their site to check it again, only to find the issue still hangs around. This may work in IE6, not sure, but since IE7 put a lot of restrictions on ActiveX controls, it must have got detected as a non-IE browser. As seen in Mozilla FireFox 2.0.0.1As seen in Internet Explorer 7.0And I thought I was equipped with enough browsers ! Guru = Abhishek Bachchan's Paternity Test
2007-01-15 10:06:00 When growing up as a child, somehow most of the Hindi movies I ever got to see were that of Amitabh Bachchan's. This is probably because of my mom being the biggest fan of Amitabh. After I got out of the parent's censoring era, I ended up watching English movies mostly. Yesterday, I was "pressed" to watch Guru lead by Abhishek Bachchan. Having seen only a dozen or two Hindi movies over the last decade, I probably am the last person to be blogging (talking) on this.In Hollywood, celebrities often get divorced, on-and-off in a relationship and in some cases, not knowing which guy banged the woman which resulted in a child who ends up not knowing the biological father.Mystery one-night stands in Bollywood may not be common, but if you ever had the slightest doubt on who Abhishek's father really is, the one thing that can match a paternity test is the movie Guru itself. If you had seen Guru, you would be convinced that Amitabh Bachchan is the biological father. It was definitely Amit... More About: Paternity , Test , Chan

2007-01-10 17:53:00 Mumbai: Today, I caught up with my old friend of mine, Saurav Guha Maulik, my school classmate almost throughout the 90s. He is one of those very few guys I used to hang around with in Calcutta. I cannot recollect the number of times we both walked all the way from school to our homes in Lake Gardens, an 8 km long journey. At the time, time existed till infinity. A very kind hearted person by nature (though used to be childishly-bully at times) and enormous bullock-like strength, I've never laughed so much as I have had with him.Its been eight years since we kept in touch, after I parted off to Trivandrum in '99. But the one single thing that I later kept telling others was this conversation that we had in '96, shortly after the release of Independence Day. Saurav saw the mega-blockbuster right after the release while I, a few weeks later. We were talking about the movie and then came the serious "hi-tech" discussion. Sify ISP is for non-Internet Junkies.
2007-01-07 10:12:00 Last week has been hectic. My parents moved to a new apartment (oh...Im still living with them for the time being) very close to previous rented apartment in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra State.Internet is now an issue at the current location (even though its just a couple of lanes away from the old location - 2 sectors away to be precise) since my most-wanted-ISP, YouTeleCom, doesn't seem to have the coverage. Currently using Sify , one of India's major ISP providers, at 256kbps. Im not so sure if they are doing this to avoid piracy or something, but the upload limit for all schemes is capped to 64kbps and quite often I get the message Your session is over. Please Login again ! So long use of uninteruppted internet connectivity is just impossible.
