Alltel launches Samsung Wafer and Snap
2007-04-23 19:54:00 As it was expected, today Alltel launched a slim candybar phone manufactured by Samsung . Rebranded as the Wafer, the SCH-R510 brings EV-DO, megapixel camera and Stereo Bluetooth into .33 inch slim body, resembling the Samsung Trace for T-Mobile. The Wafer also features memory slot and music player. It comes at $70 with 2-year contract. Cheaper and almost free, is the Samsung Snap clamshell. Being just the basic U340 that Verizon also carries, it offers .77 inch thick body with internal antenna, grayscale external display and small integrated camera. Nokia Introduces Web Widgets for S60
2007-04-17 20:21:00 Today Nokia announced the addition of Widgets and Web Run-Time to its S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 smartphone platform. Widgets are lightweight applications built on common web standards like CSS, Javascript, and AJAX. Web Run-Time is the platform that these applications will run on in the S60 environment. It is based on the same core technologies as Nokia’s wildly popular S60 web browser. Widgets will allow S60 users to keep up to date in real time with their favorite Internet sites and data sources. For example, the WeatherBug widget, shown above, tracks weather in the user’s area, while a Reuters widget might keep a list of current headlines at the user’s fingertips. An upgraded Bluetooth chip is coming

Samsung Unveils Bang and Olufsen Designed Bluetooth Headset
2007-03-20 06:30:00 Samsung Electronics showcased the high-class WEP 420 Bluetooth Headset , designed by Bang & Olufsen. To offer simplistic design and usability, the WEP 420’s buttons are hidden behind a sliding cover. The special sliding cover blocks static to increase the overall sound quality. To enhance its value, the WEP 420 comes packaged with a uniquely designed charger cradle that may be used as an interior decoration item. In 2005, Samsung and Bang & Olufsen released the Serene, a mobile phone that received the spotlight from media with its design. Sony Ericsson W660i Announced
2007-03-14 19:47:00 Sony Ericsson today announced the W660i - a classic-design 3G Walkman phone available in Record Black and Rose Red. Like several of the latest Walkman phones, the W660i features TrackID. If users ever need to identify a piece of music that they don’t recognise, simply record a few seconds of the track, either via the microphone or by tagging a clip straight from the phone’s FM Radio, and TrackID will send the clip to the Gracenote Mobile MusicID database. This quickly identifies the track, the artist and album and relays the information back to the W660i. The W660i can store up to 470 full-length songs (in eAAC+ format) on the 512 MB Memory Stick Micro (M2) supplied. As collections grow, consumers can expand the memory as needed and, by way of example, a 1 GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) will hold up to 1,000 tracks.
