?Google is a bummer of a place to work at?
2007-06-26 21:56:00
An interesting view inside Googl e as a workplace has surfaced on the net. This could be a look at the actual reality of Google. An anonymous Microsoft employee has posted on a fresh Wordpress.com blog of what appears to be the full contents of an email circulating Microsoft?s internal mailing lists. Patriotically enough, he or she wanted to share this with the rest of the world just to show what a great workplace Microsoft is and Google is not. Life at Google June 24th, 2007 by trixter98052 The following has been making the rounds on just about every internal email list I belong to in Microsoft. Here it is to share a little insight with the rest of the world. Microsoft is an amazingly transparent company. Google is not. Any peek is a good peek. Many of you were asking for the feedback I received from my interview with the former Google employee I hired into ABC Development as a Sr.SDE. Here it is. This candidate is also a former MS employee who left the company and founded a ?St...

Little-Known Facts About Well-Known Leaders - Bill Gates
2007-06-23 12:58:00
Just found those info on achievemax.com/ and I wanted to share   Everyone knows the most recent headlines about our country?s greatest leaders. In this feature, we?d like to shed some light on the lesser-known facts about these folks in hopes of giving you a little greater insight as to what makes them tick. Bill Gates William Henry Gates was born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington, USA. His father William was a corporate lawyer, and his mother Mary was a schoolteacher. By the age of 17, Gates had sold his first computer program, a time-tabling system for his high school, for $4,200. Gates scored 1590 on his SAT standardized test. The top score for the test is 1600. Gates told his university teachers he would be a millionaire by age 30. He became a billionaire at age 31. While at Harvard, Gates co-wrote Altair BASIC, which became Microsoft?s (then called Micro-Soft) first product. He met his wife, Melinda French, in 1987 at a Microsoft press event in...

Microsoft Surface
2007-05-30 14:11:00
Microsoft Surface , which will be demonstrated today at the All Things Digital conference, provides instant interaction between people and digital content using hand gestures on a touch screen. ?With Surface, we are creating more intuitive ways for people to interact with technology,? said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said. We see this as a multibillion dollar category, and we envision a time when surface computing technologies will be pervasive, from tabletops and counters to the hallway mirror. Surface is the first step in realizing that vision.? In its current form, Surface is incorporated into a 30? display mounted into a table. This allows user involvement to expand beyond just one person. Surface is capable of recognizing input from not just one finger, but multiple up to dozens of inputs simultaneously. This technology isn?t exactly new as Apple uses a less complex version on its iPhone and ?multi-touch? technology was demonstrated by Jeff Han to much fanfare last year. Micros...

Microsoft refreshes MSDN and TechNet to Web 1.8
2007-05-24 21:47:00
Thanks for istartedsomething.com for this Micro soft today updated two of its most popular resources, Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) and TechNet with a fresh new look and new navigation capabilities. While changes are not groundbreaking by any aesthetics standards - the layout is nearly identical, however it does remove a share of the eye-sore across these extensive resources. But understandably there is just so much content and residue from updates stacked on updates, it will never be perfect. There?s no denying the update brings a lot of Web 2.0 components to these sites, for example: auto-complete searches; tabs; drop-down navigation and a-hell-a-lot-of white space. But it?s not quite there. There?s no rounded corners, no extra-large input fields or even pastel colors. Just to put things into context, here?s a comparison between the old and the new. The ?old? screenshot is not entirely accurate because it is from Archive.org, but it gives you a pretty good idea.
