Eight Legged Freaks
2006-12-02 16:18:04
We have a new pet in our home! It's as Araneae, a spider, a (Theraphosidae Grammostola Rosea) tarantula from Chili. This kind of tarantula can grow up to 7cm, it eats mostly bugs, but an adult can eat mice or rats. It has amazing colors, a copperish glow. It's a really beautiful animal, nothing to be scared about like Eight Legged Freak s! So, now for the less fun part: the spider can bite, so handle withe care! Grammostola Rosea are considered docile species. The temperament can differ between individuals but generally speaking this is a calm species. I don't recommend anyone to handle them most because of the safety of the spider. However you can get bitten by a docile spider, they do have fangs and venom.

The Killing Fields
2006-12-02 16:18:04
Normally I won't post political issues, today it's not one of those days. It's a sad day in history (AGAIN), those retard canadian wankers, with brains like an amoeba, are hunting seal babies AGAIN! Canada is one of those countries, who's products I'll never ever buy. If there is one thing I hate, it's people killing animals for pleasure or sports. When I say I hate them, I mean I really hate those fucking basterds (pardon my french). If I would met a guy (sadly, mostly are men) who was killing a helpless creature, I would send him to Kingdom Come on the spot! But before that I would hurt him so much, he would call for his mommy! But seriously, if there wasn't any demand for fur it would stop! Only clothing companies like Gucci, Versace and Prada create the demand. So the only thing I can say is: DON'T BUY FUR!!!

Apple has formally given its thumbs-up to attempts to install and run Windows XP on Intel-based Macs. It has posted a tool called Boot Camp that allows iMac, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini owners to run the Microsoft OS more easily. The company also confirmed the next major Mac OS X release, Leopard, will integrate the twin-OS technology. The Boot Camp software requires Mac OS X 10.4.6, released yesterday and which has already been hailed by supporters of Windows-on-Mac initiatives as an update that improves the ability to dual-boot their systems. Boot Camp creates a CD with all the Mac-specific XP-compatible hardware drivers then dynamically repartitions the host Mac's hard drive to make room for the XP installation without the need to re-install the native operating system. It also provides a bootloader to allow users to choose which OS they boot their Intel-based Macs into.Apple is offering Boot Camp as a public beta, so it remains a 'proceed with caution' utility. But it's still mor...

Today I ran into a little trouble with Google. My site wasn't indexed no more and I was rejected to the Google Adsense program! I received a mail with unacceptable site content issues! What the F*ck??? Unacceptable??? I don't do porn, politics or other offensive content! So I mailed Google, thinking this big company won't reply, I am just a measly worm ;-) SURPRISE! A kind man immediately replied to my mail and solved my problem! Wow, what a client service! Antony thanks for your quick action!

World Weekend!
2006-12-02 16:18:04
We had a awesome weekend at 3 am we checked in in the College Hotel Amsterdam, a collaboration effort between the Stein Group and ROC Amsterdam. It's a excellent luxurious hotel with exceptional staff-trainee-wannabee's-students of the Hotel Management School, Bakery and Tourism. We got the whole shebang from my darling mother. After we checked in we went to the Rembrandt - Caravaggio an amazing once in a life time exhibition held in the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum.Dinner was a experience! For example we got haring-ice on toast, lobster sausage's and a spaghetti from asperges. The next morning my girlfriend got breakfast in bed and after a shower we went back to our domicile. Once again thanks mom!

DRM (Digital Rights Management) should be invisible, unnoticeable to the end-user, it should be stored on a server (and synced) which my device (phone, media-player, TV etc.) connects to. Now the whole discussion goes: I also should be able to use it with any device for all time, WRONG!!! It's not anymore about carriers (tapes, LP's, CD's, DVD's etc.) it's about formats (AAC, H.264, WMV, WMA) are these files interchangeable, interoperable? NO, they are not! We have two camps AAC/H.264 (Apple) and WMA/WMV (Microsoft) and some other who-cares-non-important CODECS (FLV, ON2, FLAC, OGG Vorbis, MP3 Pro or whatever). Tapes en LP's are almost extinct and these carriers weren't interchangeable (can't put a tape in a CD-player can you?). So why the hell should a AAC file play on a Doesn'tPlayForSure device? For the consumer!!! If I buy a Audio CD I can play it on my SONY, Harman/Kardon or Samsung and even on my Mac, some not though, because of DRM (tadaaaaaa). My point is DRM isn't...

Kill The Cook
2006-12-02 16:18:04
A good friend of mine (Henk van de Goor) was talking about a recipe he saw in a movie called Once Upon A Time In Mexico from director Robert Rodriguez. In the film Sands (Johnny Depp) eats a dish called Puerco Pibil (slow-roasted pork) that tastes so good it inspires him to kill the cook. The DVD contains a featurette called "Ten Minute Cook ing School: Puerco Pibil" a short documentary featuring Robert Rodriguez himself. His statement says it all. I've promised him that I would cook the recipe for him, but first the weather is got to change we're having a Dutch summer. You can view the movie here...

Confession Time
2006-12-02 16:18:04
Bless me father, for I have sinned... I've been very busy lately and neglected my blog, which isn't good! The main focus (the reason why I've created this blog) was to write about digital lifestyle products (software/hardware) and how they affect our lifestyle. While busy at creating this platform I've lost my main focus somewhere, which is even worse! So as of today no more Kitty pictures, I solemnly swear (...maybe???) ;)

The RAW flaw
2006-12-02 16:18:04
Canon (CR2/CRW)Casio (BAY)Fuji (RAF)Kodak (DCR/KDC)Konica (KQP)Minolta (MRW)Nikon (NEF)Olympus (OLY/ORF)Pentax (PEF)Sigma (X3F)SONY (SRF)Surprised there are so many? There are about 100 different RAW formats/variations/flavors. I hope in the future camera and software developers will collaborate and create an unified RAW format. Adobe has tried to address the lack of an open standard for RAW files, but instead created an other RAW flavor called DNG. The problem lies in the fact that camera developers don't natively support DNG.Microsoft wouldn't be Microsoft, if they wouldn't created their own proprietary format. They recently released the file specifications of Windows Media Photo (WMP) but hey, who cares?Nikon even encrypts their white balance information contained in NEF files and isn't readable to third party RAW converters. It would be nice to see a MPEG like group which defines the (Open)RAW lossless format. Camera and software developers use this to create their hardware a...
Flash Gordon
2006-12-02 16:18:04
I've bought a SanDisk CompactFlash Extreme III card for my Canon EOS 350D.The Extreme III is designed for serious photographers who demand one of the fastest and most durable CompactFlash cards on the market. That's because only the Extreme III CompactFlash cards feature innovative ESP Technology for the best performance. ESP stands for "Enhanced Super-Parallel Processing". Simply put, it means you are getting the fastest read/write speeds available - an amazing minimum 20MB per second sequential read and write speed - speed you'll definitely appreciate whenever you find yourself shooting in AI Servo AF (*) modus and storing pictures in harsh environments, extreme temperatures or at high altitudes.(*) AI Servo AF is an autofocusing system designed exclusively for Canon EOS cameras. It uses a form of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to determine the speed and direction of moving subjects, then focuses the camera lens to a predicted position (Focus Prediction Function) in order to incre...

God Of War
2006-12-02 16:18:04
In December of last year I talked about the game Prince of Persia 3: The Two Thrones. Last Christmas I got a new game from my girlfriend called God of War . I didn't know the game, neither have I read any reviews (yes, I know I've lived in a cave). For sure this is the best game I've ever played. It's a real dark greek tragedy. I'm not even gonna post screenshots of the game. If you don't already own it buy it! play it! and be amazed! It kept me hooked for several weeks.

Shelob's Lair
2006-12-02 16:18:04
One of the creatures of Middle-Earth from the Lord of the Rings triology is called Shelob (noticed the word She in Shelob?). Alan Lee has made great paintings of this monstrous creature. We already have a spider called Aragog (The giant spider from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, who lives in the forbidden forest. He is the creature that Hagrid raises when he is a student at Hogwarts). Today we got a new member in our Araneae familiy: a mexican red-knee (Brachypelma Smithi).

Adobe Lightroom

Aperture
2006-12-02 16:18:04
Aperture, a relative new application was added recently to the pro line-up. I have already developed a love-hate relationship with this new Apple pro application! I should concider it just a 1.0 release and hope that this potentially great application will evolve gradually in time. Hopefully Apple will support my Canon EOS 350D soon! In the mean time I'll have to do with the Raw.plist hack or just shoot in JPEG.

In the the future i'll buy a IS (Image Stabiliser) USM lens. O, boy what a camera! Soon I will post some pictures made with it...

My girlfriends phone died today so she had to buy a new one! "Whoa, these phones are expensive, she said! Yup, what if you take my old phone (Sony Ericsson K700i) and I buy a new one, I scarified myself for a damsel in distress" ;-P. So as of today I'm the proud owner of a Sony Ericsson S700i, a great phone!
