Apple iPhone integration in BMW
2007-04-10 20:11:00
Reliable sources tell us there are rumors that BMW will be the first to announce full integration of the iPhone features into the next 7-Series.Dear site "Autospies" has put forward the assumption, that the first integrator of phone Apple in interior of the car becomes BMW. And it will be made in "7even" series. The site about ???????? Gizmodo has not believed it and has said a word in favour of Volkswagen. VW already is available an operational experience with Apple: in the middle 2005 company Apple has announced the association with companies Acura, Audi, Honda and Volkswagen in the program of integration of players iPod in stereosystems of cars of models 2006.In any case in-vehicle integration iPhone promises to be interesting. To take even a voice set in interior when hands are free, or Google Maps for search of the address. All this forces hopes, that by the summer function GPS will appear in phone.Source:iPhones.ru

2007-04-05 00:46:00
Apple has sent out the first correspondence in the form of an email to all those who have signed up to learn more about the iPhone. The email reads:Thanks for signing up. You'll be the first to hear the latest about iPhone - coming this June . That gives you just enough time to think of ways to break the news to your current phone. The email reiterates a June arrival date and again informs us in the small disclaimer that the device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.Source:LoopRumors

Apple iPhone Email Storage? Thanks to Yahoo - Unlimited
2007-04-03 10:32:00
The iPhone?s 8Gb may seems a lot for a mobile phone but when you consider that this device is also a iPod, the left for emails will probably be limited! Thanks to Yahoo ! Mail, the iPhone will have unlimited email storage.?We?re psyched to be breaking new ground in the digital storage frontier by giving our users the freedom to never worry about deleting old messages again. And, like any responsible webmail service, we have anti-abuse limits in place to protect our users. BTW: As much as we?d like to just flip a switch and ?unlimit? everyone on the same day, we?ll be rolling this out over a few months to facilitate a smooth transition ? we know there?s virtually nothing more precious than your inbox.? 1 Million iPhones Inquiries in 80 Days
2007-04-03 10:29:00
Sure, the hype around the iPhone is fading on the Internet, but Apple's fans can?t wait for the iPhone to be released.Randall L. Stephenson, AT&T?s COO, said one million people have asked to be notified about the phone. That?s not sales, mind you, but indications of interest.1 million inquiries? All that in 80 days? That?s 12 500 per day or 520 per hour. That?s a lot. Did he exaggerate the number? Maybe he wanted to say 100 000?Well if Stephenson said the truth, the iPhone is going to be a real knock out next June! Thanks to iPhoneFreak

Apple iPhone Architectural scheme
2007-04-03 10:26:00
Interesting leak found today on the document sharing site Scribd. The PDF found gives the basics of the iPhone?s architecture. According to Wired, the files shows it was created by Bertrand Serlet, senior vice-president of software engineering at Apple . The document confirms that ARM would be the iPhone?s CPU.The internal architecture of the iPhone would be called Aloha and iPhone?s GUI looks to be called Onyx. There is also a module called gamesemulator.app.This could also just be a fake. Take this with a grain of salt. Update: This IS a fake. April fool's on the 2nd???...I read the news on Wired, checked the date. The post was from April 2nd. Deuh! That was a backlash of yesterday's April fool! Thanks to Gizmodo...

Apple's iPhone to go on sale on June 11
2007-04-03 10:24:00
Cellular carrier Cingular has recently announced that the much-awaited Apple iPhone will be released on June 11 in the US. This is the first time a confirmed date has been announced after Steve Job indicated at January's Macworld Expo that the iPhone will be released sometime in June this year.According to our sister site, Crave.cnet.com, the date is no coincidence as it is the first day of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference which will be held in San Francisco from June 11 to 15. No further information was released. It's still a long wait for those of us in Asia as the iPhone is expected to be launched here only in 2008. Source:cnet

Photos of Apple iPhone Nano and iPhone Shuffle
2007-03-24 11:37:00
IphonemockupsIt?s been a only a week since the announcement of the iPhone release date and we already have a new wave of future iPhone mock-ups. Since we know on what technology the iPhone is based, artists can let their imagination go wild. And they do! The idea of the iPhone Shuffle is not new but repacked with the real look and feel of the iPhone, it gives a pretty good look.IphoneshuffleEnven though I like the iPhone mock-ups, I thought the first version of the iPhone announced by Steve Jobs last week was the equivalent of the Nano for the iPod. I would see an iPod version of the iPhone with at least 30Gb of hard-disk or even better of flash disk?Source:http://www.iphonefreak.com/20 07/01/mockups_of_ipho.html

Meizu M8 vs. Apple iPhone review
2007-03-22 17:50:00
Since the iPhone?s announcement back at the Macworld Expo in January this year, there have been a number of following announcements from various manufacturers of their own iPhones, thereafter labeled as ?iPhone Killers? by the media. It?s always flattering for Apple to have its own products listed as the standard for that area of the market, but is it necessarily true?In the case of the iPod it certainly is, as it?s currently the single most popular MP3 player in the world, dominating the music scene with its partner in crime, iTunes. But the iPod has been out for 6 years and the facts and figures are there to prove its dominance and title of ?the one to beat,? so how can a phone not yet given an exact release date be given the same title?A number of manufacturers that have submitted their own entries into the iPhone-killing-market include Samsung, with its F700 touch screen SmartPhone, LG and its KE850 Prada mobile phone (also touch-screen), and the Neonode?s N2.However, one phone ...

Ultimate iPhone FAQ
2007-03-22 17:29:00
Just got back home tonight after my week in San Francisco, and found ANOTHER several dozen questions about the iPhone waiting on this blog?s comments area!I promise that this blog isn?t going to become ?all iPhone, all the time??but I?ve read through your comments and compiled this second list of Q?s and A?s.First, though, a clarification on my earlier post??Will the browser offer Flash and Java?? ?In my previous blog post, I said ?No? (you?ll see why in a moment). But several of you have pointed out an interview published in the German magazine MacWelt, in which the browser IS said to offer Flash and Java.So I?ve asked John Markoff, who audio-recorded our interview with Steve Jobs, to play back the relevant exchange for me. Here it is:??Markoff: ?What about all those plugins that live within Safari now, like Flash or like Java or like JavaScript??Jobs: ?Well, JavaScript?s built into the Phone. Sure.?Markoff: ?And what are you thinking about Flash and Java??Jobs: ?Java?s not worth b...

Apple iPhone Not Running OS X
2007-03-22 17:23:00
"We know that Steve Jobs has said the iPhone won't accept third-party apps. The iPhone looks to be running on a Samsung provided ARM core processor. That means it's not running on an Intel (or PPC) core. That means it's not running OS X in any meaningful sense (Apple can brand toilet paper as running OS X if they like). Darwin, the BSD based operating system that underlies what Apple has previously been calling OS X, does not run on ARM processors. The Darwin / Apple Public Source licensing agreement says the source would have to be made available if it is modified and sold (paraphrased; read it yourself). A Cingular rep has said the iPhone version of the OS source will not be made available. It will be closed, like the iPod OS and not like Darwin. So if it ain't Darwin, it ain't OS X (in any meaningful way). An InfoWorld article on an FBR Research report breaks down iPhone component providers and lists Samsung as the chip maker for the main application / video cpu. So, that lea...

Apple iPhone sensors technology review
2007-03-21 10:02:00
What do the proximity and orientation sensors in the iPhone do?The ?high technology? sensors (as Apple calls them) in the iPhone are some of the more exciting features this new device brings to the table. These sensors won?t result in the iPhone doing anything other phones aren?t capable of, but it will let the iPhone do it without instruction from you. The proximity sensor:This sensor detects how close the screen of the phone is to your body. This allows the iPhone to sense when you have brought the phone up to your ear. At that point, the iPhone turns off the display in order to save battery. It also stops detecting touches, as to avoid unwanted input, until you take the phone away from your ear.The orientation sensor:This sensor detects how you are holding the iPhone. Specifically, the orientation sensor is able to determine whether you are holding the iPhone vertically or horizontally. As you change the way you are holding the phone, the iPhone switches the display from landscap...

Apple iPhone Main Competitor: New Google Phone pictures released
2007-03-21 09:57:00
The rumor mill continues to churn regarding Google ?s venture into the mobile phone market. We?ve heard it called the GooglePhone , the Google Switch, and the GPhone. There have been rumors of Google partnerships with Sony, Nokia, and Samsung and of carrier releationships with Verizon, Cingular/AT&T, and T-Mobile. As time goes by, the likelihood of some of these rumors becoming a reality is increasing. The most recent evidence points directly to a partnership between Google and Samsung. Google already has an existing relationship with Samsung, the world?s largest mobile device manufacturer, offering many Google mobile services on existing Samsung phones. Recently, via mobileburn forums, pictures have surfaces from a consumer survey site which offer the latest possible rendering of the Google Phone. The marketing mockup from which the artist?s rendering of the Google Phone hails indicates the following specs for the GPhone, Google Switch, Google Phone, or whatever you want to call it: 2 ...

Apple?s iPhone amazing Touch screen: ZDnet review
2007-03-21 09:49:00
If you think Apple 's iPhone touch screen is just a neat cell phone interface you're missing the big picture?and possibly three to four years of new products. That's the message from UBS analyst Benjamin Reitzes.According to Reitzes, the iPhone and its touch screen interface signal the beginning of a multi-year product cycle. The analyst argues that Apple is likely to see "a replay of the iPod multiplier effect." That term refers to what happened when Apple launched the iPod, offered new online services around it and sold more Macs along the way.In other words, Reitzes sees the iPhone touch screen fueling years of new Apple products. Is there any reason that the iPhone touch screen won't make it to the iMac, iPod or any of Apple's products? Here's what Reitzes says in a research note: "We believe the multi-touch platform initially to be shown in the upcoming iPhone can be integrated into several products, including Macs and iPods, facilitated by Apple's software and retail eco...

Apple iPhone versus REST Smartphone Makers
2007-03-21 09:43:00
Apple?s iPhone is without a doubt a game-changer for smartphones, whether it actually sells well itself or not. Smartphone s have simply been to clumsy to use to be practical for a wide audience. That all changes with the iPhone, and it doesn?t even have to sell well - nay, doesn?t even have to actually be available - in order to harm the competition. According to USATODAY, Cellphone users set their sights on Apple?s iPhone:Priya Sanghvi wants an Apple iPhone from AT&T?s Cingular Wireless when it comes out in June, and she is already strategizing how to get it. Now a Verizon Wireless customer, she?s exploring a range of options, including trying to wrestle with Verizon to let her out of her contract early, using one of the new online swap services to dump the remaining months of the contract, or even just paying the $175 early-termination fee.?I just switched from a Dell to an Apple laptop and love the Mac lifestyle,? says Sanghvi, 22, a recent graduate of New York University. ?I nev...

Steve Jobs says "Apple iPhone Ain't Opening Up"
2007-03-21 09:39:00
Steve Jobs : ?You don?t want your phone to be an open platform,? meaning that anyone can write applications for it and potentially gum up the provider's network, says Jobs. ?You need it to work when you need it to work. Cingular doesn?t want to see their West Coast network go down because some application messed up.?Perhaps the most revealing quote is about the issue of mobile walled gardens and how Jobs and Apple first approached Cingular:?We talked to several of them and educated ourselves,? he says. He finally decided to deal with AT&T?s Cingular network. ?[They] were willing to take a really big gamble on us. We decided what the phone is. We decided what software would be on the phone. And so we could make the product we wanted.? (emphasis ours)The bolded bits really sum up Apple's philosophy. Their products are closed up tight, so that nobody can meddle with them. People weren't allowed to touch the OS in Macintosh back in '84 and nowadays they can't even change the bat...

It all started with the release of the 5.5G iPod, ...
2007-03-20 20:29:00
It all started with the release of the 5.5G iPod, which was when Apple officially released games on the iTunes store. Up until that point, we were all locked in to the (rather boring) games included with the iPod. After trying some of the games for sale free at the iTunes store, I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were, especially considering the platform.Recently, the attention has been on the Apple TV, and how ideal of a platform it would be for a (possible) entry by Apple into the gaming market. However, the other recent Apple announcement was almost completely ignored when it came to gaming. The iPhone.Sure, the iPhone's design would be less than ideal for gaming as we know it today. However, with the iPhone's hardware, the possibilities are endless. Right now, I have a DS + Wii hybrid running through my head. A multi-touch touchscreen, and an accelerometer. With some Apple innovation, I don't see why they couldn't make it happen. And with multi-touch, tur...

Apple iPhone Price Level
2007-03-20 13:15:00
When the iPhone was announced at MacWorld, Steve Jobs noted the price would be $499 for the 4GB iPhone and $599 for the 8GB iPhone.Cellphone companies normally offer rebates that result in substantial discounts off MSRP. According to Jobs, the iPhone would be sold at full price. The leaked images show Apple and Cingular testing price points. With any rumor, it's difficult to gauge the validity of the image. If authentic, Apple is testing price points of $299 (4GB) and $399 (8GB), a $200 difference. The original images sprouted up on a startup website called AppleiPhoneReview and have since been removed. The images were so poorly done, that it almost lends to their credibility, as fakes usually look as if they come from Apple. Their removal could be due to pressure from either Apple or Cingular.

Apple iPhone features: CNET review
2007-03-19 19:54:00
Though we're pleased Apple made it a quad-band (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) world phone, we're disappointed the iPhone's data support tops out at 2.5G EDGE networks. Considering the multimedia-friendly feature set, the omission of any 3G compatibility is a bit bizarre, particularly since Cingular now offers UMTS and HSDPA.We wouldn't normally spend much time on voice mail, but Apple pulled a new trick out of its hat with Visual Voicemail. Rather than forcing you to call your voice mail and waiting to browse through multiple messages to hear the one you want, Visual Voicemail displays all the messages you have in a list, similar to an e-mail in-box. All you have to do is select the message you want and listen away. It's tough to truly evaluate the iPhone's capability as a music and video player without some hands-on experience, but a cursory look at the product shots and details gives us some idea; that, and the fact it's closely related to the highly rated iPod music player iPod. I...

Apple iPhone overall: CNET review
2007-03-19 19:53:00
After months of iPhone speculation, we were sick of the device even before it came out. But now, well, we have to admit it's quite lovely. The vivid display is especially attractive, and we like the sleek, minimalist design. The touch screen may involve a learning curve, but we're excited to try it out. The iPod functionality will no doubt draw many, and in particular, we're glad to see world phone support, the Yahoo e-mail app, stereo Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.On the downside, we were hoping for wireless iTunes music downloads. And it's too bad Apple stopped short of 3G support. Also, we're hoping that Apple introduces a standalone touch-screen iPod without the phone element as not everyone will want a convergence device. And here's the biggest caveat: Phones are only as good as the calls they make, so we'll have to wait for our final assessment once we get a review product. As for battery life, Apple is promising five hours for calling or video and 16 hours in music mode.Over all...
