More games for the Internet, poker this time :)
2008-01-03 04:38:00
Yes if theirs one thing I've learned over the years on the Internet is how to burn time, and it seems that MagicHoldem is just the latest new way for me to waste time online, especially since I've never really figured out the poker odds and all the other intricacies to winning at poker especially online poker. I mean MagicHoldem gives you all the tools like a poker calculator and a holdem calculator to attempt to make the game more accessible to poker newcomers but I just can't seem to get the tactics down pat. But then again it could be because I never seem to pay attention when it matters, but regardless the poker sites like MH keep me entertained I don't know why but win or loose it just pushes me to want to play again, I wonder if this is some form of gambling addiction catching on ;)

GET OUT AND VOTE IOWA! And Others!
2008-01-03 04:22:00
Ok I'm really sick of this I'm not in the US right now so I can't vote and I'm to lazy to do an absentee vote. But this year I really hope the younger kids get out and vote. Especially for OBAMA!!!!!!!!!! Obama to me is that young visionary that really looks like he knows what he's talking about. Sure in retrospect I wish I could be saying "Arnold S. for president!" but he's not born in the US so anyway's.... It's time we had a president with the future in mind not just the next 4 years but down the line for years. The issue with the past few presidents is they've all had 1 foot in the grave, I'm sorry ladies out their but Mrs. Clinton is not the right choice for president. From her fake ass accents depending on where she was talking across the country to the fact that she is COMPLETELY riding on the coat tails of Bill Clinton is depressing! The fact of the matter is... and listen closely... HILARY IS NOT BILL CLINTON!!!! They're not the same so don't think...

A skin, that makes WM5/6 UNBELIEVABLE?
2008-01-03 03:55:00
Ok now I knew that Windows Mobile 5 and 6 were crappy UI wise, that was a given even Microsoft admitted they are only now starting to move towards aesthetics in WM7 and WM8, in fact from early reviews WM8 is supposed to be kick A$$ from early previews under NDA. But we wont see that for a while i suppose. But a group named PointUI has gone and done the unbelievable they've turned Windows Mobile into something that's great on the eyes, while at the same time making Windows Mobile, at least 1000x easier and more user friendly. By bringing in the swipes and graphical affects from the iPhone onto a standard touchscreen Windows Mobile phone. Everything gets reskinned, the interface is completely reworked and everything just seems to be amazingly easier and more useful. > > This isn't some gimmick guys I've been reading what a few of the other review sites are saying and this is drop dead amazing for any touch screen phone. Check out the video above of a few of the features ...

CONFIRMED! PSP to get Skype calling!
2008-01-03 03:38:00
Ok now you know I'm a Microsoft supporter and bash Sony every time I talk about the PS3... But I have to give them this, the PSP was and remains a killer little portable, sure is definitly got its flaws but for a first entry into the handheld arena it was wicked. If they had released better games and... more of them, maybe worked in some XBL-Portable style action (i know i know they can't even manage that properly on the console version ;)) But the fact is with its killer graphics, big screen and decent processor it really had the ability to be something great. Earlier today rumors leaked that via some PR Sony's upcoming CES showing would bring Skype to the PSP. Details were nonexistent and no one was confirming anything, but apparently the guys over at UberGizmo got the inside view and actually managed to score a bit of proof. Inside the PSP Promo Video which accompanies the new information was literally ONE FRAME, that had a bit of a splurt secret. As you can see in the image...

For the medical doctor in my family ;)
2007-12-31 16:51:00
Ok this goes out to my namesake back in the USA, he's getting ready to study to become a medical assistant. Having no concept of the whole field of medical assistant careers available out their I decided to do a bit of research to see if I could help ease his transition into his new field of study as he goes into training. As usual I hit up my good ol' pal Google for some quick searching and hunting and came up with a fair bit of information on the entire field. Things like what to expect from the classes and entering the field after the training is complete, something that I think he completely ignored in his search through the various medical assistant programs that he had brochures from. Most people seem to forget that you really have to look beyond the actual training or college to after that. I recall in school kids all trying to determine what they wanted to do to go to college for, but none really seemed to think about after college. You see for some odd reason people ha...

Small Vineyard + The Internet = New Possibilities
2007-12-31 16:39:00
The way the Internet has changed the world is quite astonishing and I keep finding new ways that it's made changes to things you never really would have realized. One of the main things I found lately was a small vineyard that started a wine of the month club from their vineyard that only produces a small production every year. This small vineyard might never have reached beyond it's own town really had it not been for the advent of the Internet. Via the Internet their now capable of offering gift baskets all over the world as well as multiple series of club memberships to offer their wine to a wider audience of wine lovers than would have ever been possible before. Things like this really make me wonder what all is possible now that the Internet is around and so abundant. I mean I know what I use it for and what people around me use it for but when I sit back and try to think of the things people I don't even know might be using it for is amazing. It comes back to the MySpa...

Graphene the next big thing for Solar Cells and LCDs?
2007-12-30 16:21:00
We all know the fact that certain resources like Oil are very limited thats why theirs the mad dash at least in some fields to find an alternative to replace the non-renewable materials we use today for materials that are more than abundant (like water/hydrogen in the case of Oil). What you probably don't know is that one of the biggest most important materials for thing's like solar cell's and LCD's as well as other devices that have transparent electrodes to carry out functions, is also on the chopping block. The fact is a material known as Indium that is essential to thing's like Solar Cells and LCDs to being created is already running low. Estimates put the worlds supply of Indium at around 10 years from being completely gone. What would that mean? Well lets just say that the solar field would stop production of new panels, LCD's would stop production and we'd be thrown back quite a white to using RPTV's something very few people are anxious to do, the fact is the lac...

iPhone 1.1.3 on the way soon, hacked iPhone's don't upgrade yet!!!
2007-12-30 16:04:00
Ok I'm posting this early because I know how thick headed techies can be. If your one of the MANY people with hacked or jailbroken iPhone's. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT, go trying to upgrade when Apple releases the new 1.1.3 firmware for the iPhone. As with previous versions of the firmware that Apple releases it has already been confirmed that the old hacks do not work on the new firmware, and trying to upgrade will almost certainly brick your iPhone and leave you with a paper weight. I'm saying this now before the new firmware is even out for download via iTunes because last time everyone, their mother and sister and in between went upgrading to 1.1.2 and then complaining that their iPhone was broken and not usable, so unless you want to treat your iPhone like a pair of disposable gloves WAIT TO UPGRADE! The fact is it will take a few weeks or so for the hacker community to find a new way in and a safe way to upgrade your iPhone's to the new version of software without tur...

Largest US based Solar PV System now online!
2007-12-30 15:33:00
Well boys and girls the US clean energy just added another 14 megawatt's of energy to it's tally. As the giant 14MW system in Nevada was turned on today, it is currently the newest and largest solar PV system in the United States owned and operated by Nellis Solar Energy System s. It is being run at the Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada and will apparently pump out around 30 million kilowatt hours of clean energy every year which will supplement around 25 percent of the total power used by the 12,000 people working at the base, as far as I know their's no current project to convert the other 75% to clean energy but I would hope that it is at least in the concept stage to become a 100% clean air force base (the first perhaps?). Maybe they'll install generators on their exercise bikes or something to do a little Miracle burn of clean energy while all those air force cadets are working their butts off :) The project took up 140 acres of land but considering the location it's not l...

Wiki + Blogging + Social Network = a can of "Wet Paint"?
2007-12-30 15:17:00
It's a bit interesting when you look at a site mixing a wiki with a touch of myspace and blogger. It's most interesting because today it hasn't been done before especially as well as WetPaint.com. Their site is quite a good bit colorful and more enjoyable to browse than wikipedia is. It's a difficult concept to take something like wikipedia that to me is somewhat of a staple like the newspaper is to the news industry and mix it with some of the Internet's Pop Diva style website's. As with other wiki's Wet Paint allows for any of the visitors to paint a little of the sites content themselves, creating their own sections on whatever topic they want or to modify other peoples content. The immediate difference you'll notice is the lack of the black and white theme from wikipedia for a more colorful and enjoyable green toned theme with colorful images determining the topic categories. Beyond the standard wealth of Information that wiki's provide they also have like I said a...

My quest for more than just the West
2007-12-29 06:00:00
As my readers probably know I'm a bit of a fanatic for far off destinations, originally the interest came from the fact that we are currently looking for somewhere to go honeymooning after we get married in July. But lately me and my fiancee have been talking and we both have the same opinion that in the future we want to take trips to far off countries. You see both of our families have been pretty closed off not leaving the "west". Me personally beyond Florida and the Caribbean i haven't been anywhere. She at least has been to Venezuela, the US, Nicaragua and Curacao. But as you can see once again it's all on this side of the world. Now before I go giving off the wrong concept, I'm not talking about going to Iraq or Iran or you know... non-stable locations. Hell I don't even think china/japan are options from the stories I've seen on the news. But the fact is theirs quite a bit of countries over on that side of the world. One of the big ones I've been looking into more a...

Software for dealing with pissed off customers?
2007-12-28 05:17:00
Considering I work in a help desk anything that can help deal with pissed off and angry customers in the future is a great innovation. In the past theirs been some cool call center software that analyses age and gender of incoming callers. But the interesting point that goes beyond this is that a Japanese company called Digital Technologies says they have developed software that will take actions based on the emotional state of the caller. The system analyses the callers and scales them in a 1-10 scale of happy to irate, what's not known as of yet is how the system analyses the caller if it's before they call and start talking to a customer service rep or before that. So if your calling for your life insurance quotes the question is when does the system determine your a highly annoyed jerk. If they're already talking to a rep it's kind of pointless, I mean the representative will already know if the customers is pissed off. If they are analyzing it and redirecting pissed of...

A PC so sexy it gets me a little... excited
2007-12-28 05:05:00
You know until recently the hottest thing I could imagine was a hot chick in black lace women's lingerie. But apparently no more, because when I saw the latest from TG's LLUON Mini PC. As you can see to the right it's definitly one of the sexier videos' the hot shiny black coating, nice lettering, clean lines and definitly a great form factor just make it quite sexy. Now to say this was the first sexy PC in a while would be a lie I mean the new XPS One is definitly a sexy all in one by far. But this Mini PC is just a great desktop PC, but the question you might ask is, is it more than just pretty looks. To an extent, the box will ship with a Core 2 Duo, 2gb DDR Ram, 500gb hard drive, DVD Burner, Geforce 8400GS as well as builtin Wi-Fi. The bad part is no Quad Core and a kind of crappy video card, but then it's a bit more than that as well that brings it down in terms of excitement, the fact is it's 3x as expensive as the Mac Mini coming in at a whopping $1500 and is only...

It's time for a rant, PAYPAL's DRIVING ME INSANE!
2007-12-24 04:30:00
Ok, PayPal is on my last nerve and since I run a blog I figured where else would be better to vent my frustration. As most of my viewers know I'm from the US currently overseas in the Caribbean. My PayPal account was still and has been set to the US based system. Which to date has been fine until I was in the middle of ordering a treadmill and my new plasma that I decided to add my overseas ATM Visa card to my account. Well let me just say that was the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life. You see my PayPal account went from a Premier Account, fully verified with a Confirmed Bank account and an old Gift Card visa. To a fully locked down and stuck "Limited Account" in under 24 hours. So this is how my month has been, considering the money in my PayPal was considerable I can't exactly just forget it, I mean if it was 20-30$ I would just say screw it and open a new PayPal account but when we're talking a few hundred to a thousand dollars I can't just forget about it. I ...

Intel Silverthorn + Apple = Orgasmic Mobiles?
2007-12-22 04:02:00
Things are about to get interesting for those of you that don't know. Apparently Intel is letting a bit of news leak that Apple is planning to use it's 45nm Silverthorne ships in multiple products slated for release in 2008. What's the big news about this? Well you have to understand that Silverthorne is a major break through chip from Intel. Imagine a chip smaller than a penny that uses around the same power as a cellphone chip, but here's the big news it has the power of a Pentium M processor. If these chips get any smaller and power we'll end up with hair products and skinceuticals that have processing power, i mean i know we're moving toward a nano world but the thought of cell phones with Pentium M's is just astonishing, i mean look at whats possible with the 400mhz chips in cell phones today like the iphone can you imagine a 1.5ghz pentium m inside a phone?!?! This could mean big things, especially in the mobile space, it could mean massively more powerful iPhone'...

Donating boats for a cause that matters
2007-12-21 05:38:00
I found an interesting site on the same lines of the car angel sites, this time it's BoatAngel. Donate Boat and you help spread good values and some really cool things. They use the proceeds from the donated boats that they end up auctioning off on places like ebay to distribute children's Christian animations and DVD's. They do it for free even the shipping is free. For the older teens and adults they even do a completely free AntiDrug documentary from dope the movie staring Jay Adam's and some other skateboard champs. I normally don't flog concepts like this but the fact is it seems like a great idea, and if your going to try to get rid of a boat then theirs no reason you can't give it to a good cause, even if Children's Animation DVDS aren't something your interested in the fact is theirs children out their that would benefit from it. even if your not Christian it's just a good charity dedicated to helping those in need. I never really sat down and wonder where the...

Windows XP SP3 Public RC now available for download!
2007-12-20 04:32:00
Well it might not be the final release, but for those of you with XP that want something new Microsoft has released Service Pack 3, which from what I recall is the first Microsoft Consumer OS to get a third service pack. Though the release is not of the final version it is nearing the final release as this is a Public Release Candidate, that is currently available for download to anyone that might be interesting in trying it. For those not keeping up on what's new in Service Pack 3 for XP, theirs some definite biggies, such as a 10 percent desktop performance boost! Along with Network Access Protection like vista, so that vista/xp/2008 can all work in harmony in the offices of the future. And other things like blackhole router detection and other features but you would have to look through the feature overview that they released for more information on what's new. The release candidate is a single 336MB downloadable available today for anyone that wants to give it a go, but ...

LMAO, Intel Delays 45nm Quad core, because AMD sucks?
2007-12-20 04:27:00
Here's a rather funny story, you see in an interesting bit of news to leak out AMD hasn't been in the best of luck lately. With Intel 's cheap Q6600 and their new Penryn processors hitting the market and demolishing everything AMD has thrown at it even the newest latest and greats unable to even dethrown the older Q6600 quad cores. Here is where the rumor comes through, Intel was set to release their upcoming Yorksfield processors, 45nm quad core processors. But today rumors slipped that the February/March release might be pushed back depending on AMD's release schedule of their upcoming tri-core and Phenom Processors. The delay supposedly is due to the fact that so far the processors Intel has seen coming out of AMD aren't something they are afraid of so releasing even more powerful would just open the gap even more which i suppose they find wasteful of their products. What's the sense in releasing improvements if no ones out their to compete, it kind of reminds me of back...

Did you know chat lines are still around?
2007-12-20 04:07:00
I've been a child of the Internet age, so the talk of local phone chat lines is something that I've never really been involved with. I heard of local phone numbers that you can call for a free chat with people that have similar interests to you but with the fact that Internet chat has changed the way people talk to each other and communicate with each other. These chat lines as their known are still around being offered via the Internet even today. Talk121 is a form of directory service for the chat lines that allows for people to find a local phone number to talk with other people. What makes these chat lines great for meeting and just talking is that theirs no giving out your details you call a number and from then on your anonymous, you can leave greetings for people and then send a voice request for a live connection to talk without giving out numbers or anything.

Air force developing spy planes that recharge on power lines, but can look
2007-12-19 05:05:00
Well here's an interesting development, those boys and girls at the US Air Force Research lab are developing micro air vehicles that can land on top of powerlines and draw power to recharge their batteries, allowing for longer distance and duration flights for the mini-vehicles. What I find even more interesting beyond the contact based powerline tapping, is the fact that they are also saying the devices would transform into inconspicuous objects once they are perched on the power lines. No it's not going to pull a transformer and transform into a vacuum cleaners hanging from the power wire, more like a piece of paper or a trash bag wrapped around the wire. What's quite interesting about the entire transforming concept is they say that the technology already exists via the use of collapsible wings and "sliding skins" that would allow the fuselage to change shape. Now I don't know about the air force, but i recall a certain fabric that maintains a shape when electric is ...

Phosphor starts selling E-Ink watches, I WANT MORE!
2007-12-19 04:51:00
You know with the wicked concept that is e-ink i'm not sure what the reason is we don't see more products developed with it. Sure the Amazon E-Book reader was released but i thought by now we would have dirt cheap newspaper readers and all kinds of rollable eink displays and cool stuff like digital pool table covers, you know things that we normally would have never seen done before.. Theirs nothing like seeing a surface that looks painted instantly change. Phosphor gave away 9 e-ink watches that they had hand built a while back, because engadget got one to give away months ago. Well it looks like those 9 people are going to get a little bit of company as Phosphor is readying 2 models of watches with the same e-ink display for $250.00 one with a leather band and one with a polyurethane. Like the limited release watches the watch can switch from white on black to black on white and also displays the time and date via the e-ink display on the face. More interesting apparent...

Foosball get's automated! Computer vs Man Foosball matches!
2007-12-14 04:41:00
Ok you know theirs always some obscure invention that's just unbelievably impressive. And theirs always those developers that point out all the the issues you probably wouldn't notice until they mention it. Well 4 engineering students from Georgia Tech have built what's most likely the first autonomous foosball table. Now while the current incarnation isn't exactly ready to beat any foosball pro's it is a decent competitor for the average joe apparently. And coming in at 500$ to build isn't completely out of the question to be marketable to the average joe either. The entire system combines a foosball table, with a webcam, 800mhz pentium PC and servo's to control the paddles to move and kick. The computer uses java media framework to track the ball as well as the human opponent via the webcam, the pc then issues commands to a pci micro controller across serial lines based on the information received. From their the microcontroller tells the servos how to move or to kick ...

Finding the cash for my buddies business
2007-12-14 04:31:00
My best buddy Jan was looking to get a Small Business Loan a few day's ago and he has started to discover just how difficult the industry can be on small companies especially those that are individually owned and operated or that are in the development phase as his was. I've been pointing him to a few different Small Business Loans website's but it seems the more he looks around the more he gets discouraged in finding what he needs. I found a site called ezunsecured that is centered around Small Business Financing which seems to offer most of what he wants but i'm doubting he will get approved considering he isn't a full US citizen but at least the process of finding out doesn't look to painful. Does anyone else have any suggestions on where a small business looking to buy machinery for their operation might get the money?

Zune 2.0 with Auto Playlist's possible? Yes!
2007-12-14 04:27:00
Turns out after all the hubbub over the Zune 2 firmware/software's lack of auto playlists was a bit over stated. Apparently the Zune software and firmware both do support auto playlists, they just can't create them. Apparently some clever Zune owners have discovered that theirs a pretty darn simple workaround to get some auto playlists onto your Zune. What this seems to point out to me is that auto playlists aren't gone for good from the official version of Zune, it's just they weren't ready for them yet in the software which means we might most likely see them return in some incarnation in 2.x versions of the Zune software. Now if some hackers could put the same sort of work into say exercise equipment and more every day tasks, we might actually have flying cars and any number of exciting advances. But for now we've got to love hackers adding missing features to our beloved devices. What's this workaround that's so obvious it should slap everyone in the head with a &quo...

iPhone hackers add another missing feature, VIDEO RECORDING!!!
2007-12-14 04:19:00
You know for such a great phone the iPhone sure was missing the basic's first it was Instant Messaging, and being unlocked but then their was the often overlooked complete lack of video recording. Sure the iPhone took great 2 megapixel pictures that really look great especially on the big screen, so good it almost made you forget the fact that it was a still image and their was no option for video recording. Now from the underground that brought us ApolloIM and all the other wonderful iPhone applications is the first alpha release of iPhone video recording! > > > What's odd is that the above video is only a proof of concept, but it shows that that the iPhone could from day 1 support video apple just didn't enable it. What's more astonishing is the fact that the team that developed it says they can record at 45fps, so a solid 30fps shouldn't be much of an issue at all. The initial proof of concept doesn't do much it's just a 5 second recording at 15fps that doesn...

Microsoft unveils Xbox360 HDDVD Emulator!
2007-12-14 04:12:00
Well theirs nothing like new software, especially the kind that comes out of left field that no one saw coming. Microsoft has done exactly that with the release of the Xbox360 HD DVD Emulator a single piece of hardware designed to streamline the development and testing of HD DVD content. What the software does in a nutshell is take the guess work out of HDDVD authoring. It allows for the developers to create HDi creations and test them out in a simulated environment before ever having to burn a single copy onto real media. The Emulator has the flexibility to mode the behavior of the HD DVD disc countent from the encoded video content to the HDi interactive layer all in a virtual environment. Getting started isn't "cheap" by average joe standards but then again it isn't insanely expensive either. And for the small development studios and content houses it really isn't expensive at all coming in at $2,999 + the cost of a HDDVD addon and Xbox360. But considering the number of H...
Bluray player finally hits below $300, but isn't HDDVD already under $200?
2007-12-10 05:23:00
Now as I might have made notice before I'm a heavy HD-DVD supporter. ya bluray has a tiny bit more space possible in the future, but as it comes to video, HDDVD has the price point and it has the iHD layer support that makes it worthwhile and properly done. Last week you might recall that HDDVD fell below the $200 price point for a player, and even some places has $99.99 hddvd players during black friday so we all know that price point will be coming soon as well. But for those people still holding onto the bluray camp for whatever reason, even though it's all fractured and the whole BD+ standard is in disarray. This news might be something your interested in. Samsung's BD-P1400 has hit the market for under 300$ at Amazon now for $298.76 a bit of an odd price but the fact is it supports 1080p24, DDP, TrueHD, DTS HD, HDMI 1.3 and 1080p DVD upconversion.  (Though early reviews still say that the HDDVD camps upconverting is done better.) Also don't forget bluray is givin...

Crackdown and Saints Row were cool, GTA IV though...
2007-12-10 05:05:00
Well with the upgrade from GTA III to what we saw in crackdown and saints row's gameplay and graphics. The no loading times and much better physics and graphics were definitly impressive. Here's the thing though if you look at the image to the left your going to see what's quite exciting. We all knew that the boys at rockstar said that they were going to take the Grand Theft Auto series to a new level. But what we're starting to see is quite amazing. It's like a free roaming, weather and environmental world that has the quality I've only really seen previously in PGR3 and 4. I mean this stuff is probably better looking that most linear games let alone for a full free roaming GTA game. If the size of the world and the physics and gameplay is anything of an improvement especially if its as big a step up as the graphics have gone between the GTA III to GTA IV transition from these images. From the look of the images with the day and night scapes and all of the building lights...

An affiliate network i'm using thats worth sharing :)
2007-12-07 05:19:00
In my efforts to find new income sources I've been taking looks at a lot of development networks. Likno is definitely one of my more ambitious projects that I'm looking forward to working with. It's not your nickel and dime style affiliate network. Which is good and bad in different ways, I mean they offer 30-45% commissions, which isn't the 75% other networks may have, but with Likno we're not talking about a 20$ e-book. Likno's offerings range from a 45% commission on a $790 price for the Developers Package down to the lowest commission of 30% on their $59.95  AllWebMenus PRO at minimum meaning that any sale is a worthwhile sale. The good thing is that in the development niche that Likno's products sit in they are quite popular selling at a 1:50 rate quite impressive especially at these commission rates. The companies name may seem a bit odd but they have some major products you might recognize the names like AllWebMenus Pro. One of the most popular javascript menu ...
