ATI DisplayPort card start trickling out
2007-12-07 05:03:00
Now that theirs DisplayPort monitors beginning to hit the market you might be wondering where the video cards to actually make use of the new ports on the monitors. While many people have been speaking up the high-bandwidth that DisplayPort offer their has been little in the way of actually being able to use it. But finally it looks like ATI will be the first to lay hold to the title of First DisplayPort graphics cards, with the release of the RV635 XT board which the boys over at HotHardware have finally gotten the chance to test the first DisplayPort card out. Unfortunately HotHardware isn't divulging any hard numbers performance wise but they are doing more of a "show and tell". But one of the big DisplayPort abilities has me and most others quite impressed and interested. The ability for daisy-chained display support which allows for the user to run 4 displays off of a single DisplayPort card, by daisy chaining one monitor to the next thanks to the high bandwidth that the ne...

Connect360 3.2 gets Xbox360 Divx/Xvid Support
2007-12-07 04:49:00
Connect360 has been updated to accommodate the new codecs introduced in the recent Fall Update. In other words, Connect360 3.2 will allow anyone to stream DivX or Xvid right to their television. The full application will run you $20, though the update is free to existing users. I haven't gotten to try it out myself yet, but the boys over at Joystiq claim that the app outperforms Microsoft's official Windows streaming. Though that's yet to be proven the fact is intriguing and beyond that it just points out one more reason you want a 360. Even if your a Mac user :) Source: Joystiq

Writing essays, the easy way :)
2007-12-06 04:36:00
This post is really dedicated to my brother who hates essay editing and writing. He has never been the best essay writer then again neither have I. When I came across writing-services it was quite an interesting discovery a 24/7/365 service for students and professionals that need assistance with copyrighting and article writing services. Not to mention it's even possible to get your custom written articles back in 12 hours. What I found most interesting about their custom writing service is that they offer the writing service of both UK and US writers so that the writing styles can match your areas style of writing.

Microwave beam with the power to stop a car dead, tested
2007-12-06 04:23:00
Ok now the idea of the ability to stop a car without injuring the occupants or nearby cars or any phase 1 environmental. It appears that Eureka Aerospace is doing a whole lot more than just envisioning a concept they've been putting together a full blown prototype. The first prototype tested is a 200-pound, 5-foot long prototype the test was an utter success being able to completely disable and incapacitate any vehicle that dared roll into the path of the microwave beam. The device has been used to shutdown 4 cars so far each within a distance of 10 to 50 feet. Most impressively is that the microwave pulse took 50 nanoseconds to disable each car. According to James Tatoian the groups CEO, they are planning a 50-pound version that will disable cars up to 600 feet away is realistically only a few years away. Now while its a bit depressing that we'll never get to play with one unless your a cop eventually. Source: SlashGear

Japan gets all the cool toys, even 4x wireless TV streaming
2007-12-06 04:11:00
You know I don't like how the world has evolved, the US gets the standardized mundane electronics while Japan gets all the wicked new cutting edge technology before the rest of the world has even started demanding it, besides the strange theme'd bathroom vanities and other oddities that Japan gets theirs more wicked gadgets. Such is 1Seg the wireless video transmission they have in Japan. Now they're not only enjoying wireless video but thanks to the new Logitec's USB 1Seg Tuner they can stream 2 channels of 1Seg video at once and if they daisy chain 2 of them together they can stream 4 programs from 4 channels all at once in parallel. That is of course if their computers can handle it. But knowing the way the world works I wouldn't be surprised if Japan was sporting 32 core processors by now. Source: Engadget

Xbox360 HDDVD player rocking it for less $$$
2007-12-06 04:03:00
So only now after 6 months after it fell down to $179 making it the cheapest HDDVD player for the 360 and the PC. Now Microsoft is doing it again lowering the price to an even more sweet spot of $129. Now if this price wasn't wicked enough it might have been a bit more exciting if the price wasn't a tad bit more expensive than the HD DVD from walmart was on blackfriday it would be even more mouth dropping. But this is no special or sale it's a brand new price available from Amazon and Toys-R-Us. Source: Engadget

Earplug hearing protection, aren't just wads of wax anymore!
2007-11-28 03:58:00
Just when you thought the most simple of devices couldn't be turned inside and out into a much more complex super tech-ified piece of hardware. Now we all know their are some great strives in Digital Hearing Devices for those people that have hearing issues. The technology has got more and more advanced with better quality construction and audiophile quality. Things have got a bit more freaky though when it comes to Hearing Protection things haven't exactly evolved much from the previous generation's earplugs basically balls of wax shoved in the ears to block sound and disturbing noises. Yes they moved from balls of wax to new custom fit spongy inserts. But they never really changed until I came across Sonomax. These guys have taken a seemingly simple item and not only improved on it but have totally made it cutting edge and technical. They took the concept of in-ear hearing assistance and turned it into a full blown Noise Reduction Device by adding a few sensors and a...
It's black friday, and the deals are bountiful!
2007-11-23 15:19:00
Well as you may or may not remember today is Black Firday, the day after thanks giving. Now why they call today black friday is completely unknown to me but one thing that I do know for a fact is that today's the day all the stores online and offline start some MASSIVE deals in most case only lasting a few hours or a single day. But the fact is that stores in the US today could be considered the Most Wicked tickets in town, that is if you had to buy tickets to get in. The fact is the deals are all sprawled out across the country and every major store is having deep discounts as they do every year. Thanks to engadget and some other sites i've managed to put together a bit of a teaser list of some of the deals that are currently being shown today. Remember some stores only offer the big real discounts in-store so you'll have to get up off your but and push through the lines at your local best-buy. But then again 400-800$ off a plasma or lcd tv doesn't seem like a bad reward for a...

Microsoft Releases XNA 2.0 Beta, developers get excited
2007-11-22 05:29:00
Well those homebrew developers that got ecstatic when the original XNA Game Studio was released many people were quite excited by the fact of a single Xbox and PC game development platform from the premier development platform creator (Microsoft ). Well in a bid to move the homebrew groups forward and continue it's evolution Microsoft has announced the release of XNA Game Studio 2.0. The software is currently in beta but brings with it a hole slew of new tools and features to help the aspiring programmer learn to make video games in their own living room. Navy get's a big new 32MJ Rail Gun Toy to play with
2007-11-15 04:46:00
Well if theirs one thing American boy's like me like it's our big guns and our Military getting bigger guns. Now when it comes to gun's theirs nothing like a gun that shoots at Mach 8 and can shoot what's only currently being documented as "Extreme" Ranges. The gun in question is the new Rail Gun for the navy that's been created by BAE Systems, the new system rings in at a whopping 32 Mega Joules. The delivery of the new weapon has been accepted by the US Navy and I'm sure hundreds of anxious sailors are ready to test this baby out, it's like the ultimate pearl necklace for a lady, but in the men's case its a big boy gun :) The system that has been delivered is not your average gun, you won't find any gun poweder or other fuel source behind these bullets, in fact you won't find any explosives at all in the system, that's why railguns are so much safer for ships the lack of any explosives that could go off unintentionally. That's the beauty of a railgun system, this ...

New job, new car, minimum price? Hmm
2007-11-15 04:35:00
Well as I've mentioned a few times in the past month or 2 i've been looking for a new job and on my way to finding one i've been getting some Honda Car Quotes to try to find a new car. I've heard that Honda Cars are pretty rock solid and I'm looking to replace my Accent as it's almost 10 years old and has seen it's better days. I'm fighting against forces though, the fact that I need a new car to make my new job work to the best of my abilities without as much trouble as I have now getting around and all the worrying. After seeing some of the Honda Car Price s that carsblvd has i've been quite interested in their vehicles, I'm not a sports car guy I'm an efficiency and cost concious person. Ya eventually I'll want the Viper but Right now I'm a bit more concerned with high mileage ~40mpg and a low cost < $10,000. If any of my visitors have suggestion's I'm definitly open to them for now I'll just keep hunting away looking for the right fit.

Too dusty for a warranty? Has Sony gone mad?
2007-11-15 04:27:00
This is just INSANE, since when does Dust void a warranty? The picture above was REFUSED for repair under warranty by Sony because they claimed the unit was too dusty. Here's where it gets even more insane, according to Sony they refused to fix the system because the dust could cause issues for their technician's health that could only be bypassed if the owner of the PS3 would pay a $150 fee, is it just me or does it sound like some sony administrators need to look through some alcohol rehabs. Now I don't exactly know even if this was an issue how a can of canned air cost's any more than a dollar or two. After Consmerist made a few post's about the issue Sony apparently reveresed course and decided to release the pictures that had originally been rumored to be restricted. Sony's letter and the picture have both been released through Consumerist They basically decided that releasing the images would somehow circumvent their issue of voiding a warranty based on dust on a co...

Finding my way out of a tough spot.
2007-11-15 04:09:00
Well these last few month's have been pretty horrible, my job's in shambles, i got robbed twice and well as you can see things have been difficult. That's the reason I've been looking at short term fixes like Faxless Payday Loans that are available in my area because my issue was that after all this happened my job paid me over a week late. To my dismay their weren't any in my area but luckily I managed to pull some strings and get around the issue atleast this month. The reason I bring up the entire No Fax Payday Loans is that I always wondered why someone would ever need a short term loan of just a few weeks. I just never really caught on to the logic until this month where the problems started compounding all at once and backed me into a corner at just the worst possible time. I quickly saw how beneficial a short influx of cash for a few weeks could really have made things a lot easier. Had Payday Loans been available in my area I almost surely would have taken the oppertu...

Technology allows try before you buy Tattoo's via CG
2007-11-15 03:54:00
Ok now i'm not the tattoo type of guy i'm a computer geek after all but i've always thought that whenever technology breaks into a new field it's definitly worth taking note. Now guess what the art of tattooing has just become quite a bit interesting due to a computer graphics artist named Loic Zimmermann. Loic has designed a new computer program that allows a user to get a look at what a complex design will look like on a 3d figure. We're not talking simple rose's or a butterfly here we're talking full blown tattoo designs. The above image is an example of what's possible with the computer application. Now if Zimmerman can refine his software to include a program to show how your body will look like 30 years and 50lb from now. If Zimmerman or others like him can progress the system to the point that it's freely available in parlors where people can take a few pictures of themselves and choose a tattoo design and then get a little live preview of their choices would...

Italy hotels aren't that hard to find after all
2007-11-14 08:54:00
Well still having trouble narrowing down our choices for our honeymoon so i've been trying to find the best solution and came across Hotel Florence which was quite interesting. We've always been interested in italy but it has come down to finding an actual cost effective way of getting their and staying. I know people in the travel agencies so figuring out a cheap flight shouldn't be too difficult. But the question comes down to once we ge their how do we find and afford the trip so that we still have money to have fun and enjoy our selves while at the same time not coming back broke. Hotel Naples is another possibility, quite a beautiful hotel that's been interesting to read about because i've heard about it before from some of my friends. Hotel Rom is possible as well but i've never really heard of it previously. I've been researching them all via a site called free reservation. I really like the site because it allows me to narrow down the hunt by pricing and not just fe...

Zune 2 hits the street, Zune30 (v1) firmware v2 ready, and the reviews are
2007-11-14 08:38:00
Well today is the day Microsoft rolls out it's next iteration of it's Zune media line of products and from the looks of thing's its going smashingly well. The new firmware for the V1 devices is also out bringing all the goodies to v1 purchases without having to pay a dime extra. Microsoft has expanded it's portfolio to include the Zune 4/8/80gb versions all sporting a new improved version of the firmware which comes in at version 2.1. As many may recall what really made people excited especially me after buying a Zune30 (v1) is that Microsoft announced and today released the 2.1 firmware also for the original Zune hardware. This allows for the entire zune line of products both new and old to rock the new features like the wireless sync and revamped interface not to mention the new software package that comes with it. The reviews of the devices have started to come in and while no one will go as far as to call it an iPod Classic or Nano killer the fact is they all seem to hav...

WiFi router goes long distance, right when you though 1km was far
2007-11-14 08:27:00
Well you might recall me discussing a sexy little router last week that was boasting standard distances of 1000ft, a definite step up from some of the little dlinks sitting in most peoples homes. Well lets just say that that router limit has been broken now as well, we now have a desktop router with standard rubber duck antennas doing 1/4th of a mile which comes out to 1320 feet. The new router boasts the high distance because it's maxing out it's output power at the current FCC limit of 30dBm from the internal radio. The Extreme Range WiFi Router also sports the normal goodies including 802.11b/g, WEP, WPA2, WPA-Enterprise as well as Wireless Repeater Mode. So this isn't some little piece of wall art, no this is a bad a$$ piece of hardware packing both security and power in one packet. That last little tidbit is quite cool because it can allow you to buy a sexier router for your standard inhome use say one of those sexy new OLED display style routers. Then you can put the Ex...

Small sites are a great way to track down the goodies
2007-11-10 08:52:00
In my ever expanding quest to reach the end of the internet ;) I've stumbled upon quite the interesting site. Sort of the ebay of used cars uk but it'd dedicated to groups like those that offer a motoring shop or are just looking for a type of vehicle. So while theirs definitly other sites that you can buy used cars online with may be more known it's great to find these smaller sites that offer a contingent of auto's that you might have a hard time locating on the other sites. The more places you have to look for something the more chances you have of finding exactly what your looking for.

Paramagnetic paint, your car doesn't have to be 1 color anymore!
2007-11-10 08:08:00
Ok guys now i'm a definite car guy, i've always wanted my car to be completely tricked out and theirs some things i've always thought should be done eventually one of those is ElectroChromatic glass for the windows so you can adjust the tint via amn electrical dial for the windows. Now while that technology already exists it's just not in the car field for some reason, only perhaps in government buildings and some luxury homes if the owners really got the cash. My second thing I always wanted was from the TV show "Viper" you see not only did the car transform which we'll probably never see, but what it did do that apparently will be coming to market soon is Paramagnetic paint. The new paint comes from the same company that designed the self-healing paint idea you know, Nissan those crazy car makers. The paramagnetic concoction will allow for motorists to change the color of their vehicle with the press of a simple button. The secret is a "special polymer con...

Apple releases firmware v1.1.2, jailbrake broken again
2007-11-09 10:41:00
Well for those of you out their interested in the latest news on the Apple iPhone hacking fiascos. It turns out that Apple has officially rolled out the new v1.1.2 firmware now heres the bad news. The update kills the tiff exploit that the 1.1.1 hack was using for the jailbrake to load applications and hacks onto the system. So if your one of the iPhone hackers PLEASE DON'T BE STUPID, don't go upgrading your phone to 1.1.2 and then bitching about the hacks not working. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! So if your a hacked iPhone user do not upgrade your iPhone, or else your going to be stuck waiting for a new hack release to use your jailbrake. Be patient we can be quite sure that the hacking groups will get 1.1.2 cracked eventually as well, for now theirs no real reason to upgrade to the new version it's mostly international support and languages. Finding a trusted source, with trustsource?
2007-11-09 10:28:00
The internet's quite a tricky place when you think about it so many scams running rampid and then even the omes that are good tend to sell less than adequate or overstated products. That poses the question where are you to go when you need perhaps a cash advance on your paycheck or something else that you perhaps haven't done before on the internet. The problem is if you go by what the sites themselves state than every site on the internet is the best place to go for thing's like payday loans. Now theirs always the hit and miss approach to finding reliable retailers and sites, but then you have to deal with the many miss's in the long run. Another alternative is to stick to trusted sites that you know are good like Amazon. But that runs the course when the trusted sites that you know don't have something you need like say provillus for your hair loss or some other obscure product that you want but just can't find except on a smaller less known site. That's where my new fi...

Spock, a pointy eared Search Engine for people? ;)
2007-11-07 08:50:00
I found something quite interesting in my internet travels named spock it's a people search engine. Now at first I didn't really know what a people search engine was let alone what Spock is. But when I found it I've become quite attached to it even as a daily stopping point when I'm a bit bored. I looked around trying to find other alternative search engines like Spock but it seems that quite a few of them are limited in their abilities to actually find non specific information. One of the cool things I found about Spock was the fact that if you do a search for something that is quite broad like "brown hair" as a search it will return a list of people with brown hair that it has in it's known database. This extends to all kinds of tags such as for instance the NY Yankees or perhaps whether your looking for vegetarians. It's an extremely powerful tool in the hands of someone that knows what their looking for while still remaining a great time burner for the Internet...

hField's Vista compatible Wi-Fire Adapter goes to market
2007-11-07 08:49:00
Well for those Vista users theirs a new bad a$$ WiFi adapter on the market. It's hField's long range wifi adapter that boosts most wireless distance up to 1,000 foot range. The new device is 100% compatible with vista and thanks to some good craftsmanship and strong radio power this baby has 5 times the distance of pretty much all standard wifi radios. The antenna radio combo measures 3" x 4" and fully supports 802.11b/g networks at the aformentioned 1,000 ft range. Which if anyone knows better depending on the area, even standard radios are known to do 1,000ft in the right conditions, so with the indoor tests of the WiFire being so strong, god knows how far someone with the right conditions could push the connection. Not a bad setup at all considering the $79.00 price tag attached the unit. Source: hField

The ultimate gaming arcade cabinet, 187 games + a surprise.
2007-11-07 08:34:00
Say hello to the ultimate game cabinet of all time, or at least as far as I've seen in the past. Now If the fact that this thing comes strapped with 187 of the all time best preloaded cabinet games wasn't enough from pac-man and gauntlet to rainbow island and rampage. All presented on a 24" flat screen monitor to make sure you can see the classic games in all their 16-bit glory (probably). But that's just the start of how wicked this little cabinet is. To top things off and bring it into the next generation it's got all the hook ups for your Xbox360, Wii and PS3 so you can play the new and the old goodies. But the $2,000 price tag for the arcade cabinet has a bit more to offer, you might notice in the back of the picture above theirs a little treat. Yes that's a full Keg of beer right their in the back of the cabinet. The system is wired from the back to the front so that you can poor the beer right from your gaming station. Isn't life grand :) Source: Techdigest

Positioning does matter when it comes to dating sites.
2007-11-03 22:34:00
Theirs only one date site that managed to get date.com for their domain. Now I don't know about the rest of you but I've seen how high profile and high dollar domain names can go by. Not to mention the major amount of traffic that the right name can bring to a service. From what I recall sites like porn.com sold for millions, now we've got date.com what looks to be a site truly dedicated to being a great Dati ng Service. Considering as I said the pricing behind the big name domains they better be ready to do hat the name dictates. So a dating site that managed to score date.com really will deliver what it says. As for date.com's site they offer a Free Dating service you know the standard mixture of Dating and Chat that most sites are known for just with a much larger clientele. If you take the best of some other sites and splash in a large user base you pretty much end up with what date.com is offering. The most important thing for a dating site is a wide user base for peop...

Inflatable Solar concentrators the next big thing
2007-11-03 21:39:00
Cool Earth, a name that you might not know off the top of your head might be headed for some major work in the solar business. Where they're coming into the market is the next evolution of solar arrays. The system as designed is a solar array that should prove to be about 25x cheaper than current standard arrays, and their most impressive design an inflatable array looks to be around 400x cheaper than standard mirrors and are also light weight so that they are able to be cable suspended opening a lot of real estate for solar development. Remember we're not talking about little makeup mirrors we're talking massive inflated concentration ballons, quite an impressive design, especially considering I've always said mylar reflectors would be amazing instead of mirrors. Which also allows for construction to use a lot less steel in the construction of the array installations, faster installation and minimal land use distribution. Their is a bit of a drawback however, such as the i...

Lenovo making mucho dinero, dropping IBM early
2007-11-03 21:24:00
Well you may ask your self what happens when a small overseas companys buys out a major company like say, IBM and then a few years later starts doing 105 million dollar profit in a quarter. Well what happens is they decide early to drop their earlier purchased IBM namesake and logo from their system. It's not exactly the wedding flowers or anniversary present for Lenovo to give IBM's name but hey money is money and companys make decisions as things progressively change. What's impressive is they must be well ahead of their curve for making Lenovo the big name brand they want it to be. Because the decision to drop the IBM name is coming a full 2 years ahead of their planned date to drop it. Source: CNET

British army looking to create invisible tanks
2007-11-03 21:20:00
Well it looks like it's not only the US military looking forward to crazy sci-fi warfare. The british army is also looking to create invisible war machines, while unlike the US that was looking to create invisible invulnerable healing soldiers. The british army is looking to create invisible tanks. The design at the moment they are pondering for the british tanks is similar to the Susumu Tachi jacket from a few years ago, a camera and projector setup throws a projection of the surroundings onto the tank letting you "see through it". Now I don't forsee anyone cracking out the popcorn machine and celebrating any time soon considering the concept is no where near as advanced and complete as the other invisibility cloaks, also known as REAL invisibility. It's not the futuristic stuff that DARPA is working on but it should somewhat work. It won't block radar or anything fancy like that but it will make the tanks harder to visibly see, but then again their the whole h...

RC cars that will make even grown men smile :)
2007-11-03 21:04:00
Before I got heavily into online action and stopped playing outside more I used to run a little petrol rc hummer. The gas powered RC cars are amazing the one I owned was one of the fastest radio controlled cars on the island topping out on the smooth street at over 45mph, tracked by GPS several times. Now don't get me wrong when I was a preteen electric rc cars were great but after you hit your teens and beyond theirs nothing like petrol rc cars, most of which use a mixture of nitro and gas that makes those little engines no bigger than a fist in most cases can push over 10,000-15,000 rpm. Of course their geared down and even in some case have multi-stage clutches that make the speed of these little cars insane.

Microsoft gets tapped for Next-Gen Jpeg Standard
2007-11-03 20:52:00
Well as you may recall Microsoft 's HD Photo standard was Microsofts next generation graphics format that was submitted to the Joint Photographic Experts Group. Well it has been approved as the upcoming nextgen replacement for the JPEG format. Although it has been officially named JPEG XR for it's roll out as a full standardized format. XR stands for extended range, which is because of it's wider color palette and finer graduations that it can show in comparison to the old Jpeg standard. Other benefits for the new format include in-camera imaging processing support as well as better compression ability. So it's like weight loss and bodybuilding supplements for the jpeg standard all in one big lump. In the move Microsoft is giving up propriatary control to a neutral standard like JPEG is now. While Windows Vista already has built-in support it will take a year to get the full standardization at which large scale adoption will probably start picking up steam onto hardware like...
