The job search hits the web hard, even for the job listing sites.
2007-11-01 22:45:00
Finding jobs couldn't be easier when it comes to being online and finding a place where you'll be at home. Theirs nothing like a site of the best job listings in the country that is actually looking for employees them selves. I was quite suprised when I stopped by monster.ca and saw that they had big and bold advertisements that they themselves are hiring at the moment. It's a bit of an oddity for a job listing company listing that they have a job in their own listings :) But the fact is that the jobs they are looking to fill are only a few in comparison to the wealth of country wide jobs available. Monster's one of the largest job listing sites with listing mirors setup for all over the world. Canada and the US are 2 of their larger locales with thousands of jobs listed in pretty much every field of employment you can imagine from janitors to high powered executive openings that would make anyone drool a little. The site offers everything from submitting resumes to communicat...

Biometric systems not just for your pda anymore.
2007-11-01 22:20:00
Well it looks like atleast one franchise is looking to take Biometrics beyond our notebook computers and PDAs. A chicago shell station has begun trialing a completely biometric payment system that will allow users to pay for their gas and products with a simple touch. Now while many of us might be content with swiping a card or flashing a little short range stick with our credit information. The fact is those things can be stolen or lost and ya theirs way to get them back or canceled but the move to a biometric system seems a lot smarter. The shell stations in chicago rolls out ten stations of the new biometric payment system by california based Pay by Touch. The system allows for you to scan your finger print fill up and cruise off. So now you just have to worry about loosing your Audemars Piguet watch instead of your possesions and your plastic and credit. The system matches your finger print to a credit or checking account which customers initiate at one of the stores or onli...

Walmart just loves breaking street dates, Zune 2 on display
2007-11-01 22:07:00
Well boys and girls it looks like once again Wal-Mart has broken the released street-date for Microsofts upcoming Zune "2" lineup. Ok i really don't think we can call the Zune lineup the Zune 2 lineup anymore Microsoft has made it plain and simple that theirs 1 zune lineup. They've just expanded on it and released new software for all of them, a great move on my part and from what i'm seeing from the display I really think these things look sexy. The whole touchpad that allows for gesturing and flicking as well as tactile clicking for when its in your pocket. It's a great thing but heres what this storys about, the fact that a Saint Louis Wal-Mart has on display the new Zune's as well as the older zune on a nice sexy Zune display. On one hand It might be that they aren't actually going to be on sale until November 13th as Microsoft has requested considering that only the Zune30 has pricing perhaps the rest will only hit around November 13th. A drop in blog traffic solution, it depends.
2007-11-01 21:56:00
A solution to underappreciated blogs getting some traffic or just another gimmick. When it comes to blogrush it's a bit difficult to figure out but the fact is the idea is solid a scrolling billboard shared on many sites all rotating recent articles creating a spider web of the latest posts world wide. If you Have a Blog ? Get more readers, Click Here, while I can't say that it's 100% for sure it's definitly worth a shot. I mean it doesn't take too much space up, and if it is a good way to Get Traffic to your Blog, Free then it's a pretty simple process you just stop by and get it running in a few minutes. So ask your self Do you write a blog? Get Massive Traffic is what they promise, the question is if it works or not, the logic is their so I can't exactly see why it wouldn't work. I doubt it will be a massive amount of traffic but it will definitly be a nice spark especially for the smaller blogs joining. I think if bigger blogs join and start rotating and driving traffic...

Do you spot the Jailbroken iPhone?
2007-11-01 21:48:00
Here's a little bit of an oddity, do you notice something wrong with the iPhone at the Apple store in the picture above. Come on guys and girls it's pretty easy to spot, yep theirs too many icons on the screen. Now unless apple has started selling next-generation iPhones with more applications then theirs something odd going on. The picture you see above was taken in an unnamed Apple Store. Here's the funny part according to the AT&T specialist at the store they said that it was because supposedly you can "put your own applications on the phone". Which as far as I know completely voids your warranty and is not allowed in the least bit. Their is of course the possibility that it's all a plant and that someone just swapped out their own Jailbroken iphone for the one in the display snapped a picture and swapped it back. But either way it's quite the funny ordeal. Source: Flickr Powered by Qumana

Macbook's run Vista ultra fast, and their getting a Upgrade too!
2007-11-01 21:42:00
Well on the heals of the announcement yesterday that benchmark tests put Windows Vista on a Mac up against other brand computers. The end result was that macbooks are made to be fast, being the quickest by a decent margin. But theirs a bit of news that apple is releasing new Macbook pro's that are even faster. The new macbook pro's are not "new" but just upgraded availability. Apple is now going to offer 2.6ghz Core 2 Duo's in addition to their previously available 2.2 and 2.4ghz chips. The cost for the priveledge of what may be the fastest Vista / Mac laptop will run you an additional $250 on top of the cost of the standard 15" or 17" configuration of the 2.4ghz version. The downside is this isn't going to be a same day shipment, as Apple estimates shipment of the new bad boys at around 2-3 weeks. In addition to the new processor the hard drive upgrade options are now 5400rpm or better. As of yet we still aren't aware of when the MBP's will be showin...

The geeks guide to love and romance? Perhaps
2007-10-31 08:49:00
Nothing excites a geek like the thought of the opposite sex but with the problems of most geeks suffering from nice guy syndrome like myself things can be a bit difficult in finding someone to share our elder years with. But if theirs one things us computer geeks know how to do is use the internet to find help for just about everything. So here comes TheModernMan a site designed to turn men from geek into complete pick up artists and guide them to find the women out their that are a match for them. Someone told me a long time ago that theirs someone out their for every person, the trick is finding them and then actually realizing you've found them when you do. I lucked out I by chance ended up at a school in the caribbean by a bunch of mishaps and then found a girl that for some odd reason liked the geek inside. The fact is I believe what that person told me, their really is someone out their for every guy/girl its just down to keeping your eyes open when your trying to find the ...

NASA's headaches grow, brand new solar array damaged on ISS.
2007-10-31 08:49:00
Well it appears that NASA just can't get away from the headaches of space lately. The space stations latest solar array is causing all sorts of new pains to the space agency. The first of the 2 solar arrays was installed and deployed flawlessly, but the second forced the astronauts to abruptly stop the deployment and inspect the damage. With a final verdict on the damage still undetermined but from images on CNN the damage looks pretty bad considering how sensitive solar panels are and I sincerely doubt that solar arrays are much different. This all comes on the heals of Discovery's finding of some metal shavings in a motirzed joint on Sunday which had already pushed the Discovery's mission a day longer than originally planned to inspect the damage. AP has pointed out that the station needs all the power from the new arrays that it can get because both the European Space Agency's soon to be launched science lab (Columbus) and an upcoming Japanese lab depend on the power being ...

Zune Family to get some Third Party accessories :)
2007-10-31 08:30:00
Well it looks like Microsoft is getting ready to step things up a little bit with the Zune family. They've announced that they are welcoming a large crew of companies into the zune family as Third Party accessory manufacturers. In addition to the always sexy first party accessories (i'm sorry guys but I find that I really like Microsoft hardware it's just sexy and works well from my Zune30 to my Microsoft keyboard and Mouse that i've had for years), in addition they will also be welcoming 60 different zune products from some of the biggest names in audio including Polk, Belkin, DLO, Monster, Altec Lansing, Targus, iHome, Memorex and Griffin to name a few. Microsoft's new partners in their zune franchise will be releasing everything from speaker docks to RCA cables, you can sort of tell that a few companies will be doing one or the other while others will produce the range of products (monster and their darn cables ;)) So it looks like Microsoft is finally getting what I sa...

The Web 2.0 Solution to custom button creation.
2007-10-31 08:23:00
I've been taking a look at a site named fatstatement at first I didn't understand how the sites name fit with it's content but after a while I put 2 and 2 together. You see fatstatement allows you to create buttons on the fly online with all kinds of designs and while I believe the name they were looking for was Phat Statement the concept is pretty simple and pretty darn cool. The system they provide allows you to just stop at their site, set a few variables in a nice flash designer and create a custom badge. Yes I know I probably confused a few people when I said Web 2.0 and button. When you think of buttons you might have thought I was referring to the computer buttons that you click but this site is for designing a custom button badge. You know the round metalic badges that you can wear or give as presents etc. Normally around 2.5" in diameter i'd estimate. The reason this is on my little techie site is that their site is spectacularly well done. The fact that as soon ...

Pirate Bay going a step further in P2P, developing nextgen P2P network.
2007-10-31 08:13:00
Well we all know theirs one group that has stood up against the RIAA and all the other organisations that are trying to put an end to the consumers sharing their products. Beyond being the one torrent site to never even look like they would go down, beyond 1 raid that they survived and the fact that they adimantly make fun of the RIAA and other groups by posting their legal threats online on their site. Lately Pirate Bay has been going further by reregistering the big king pin original Suprnova.org bringing back not only the site but even the original look. But that's not anywhere near where Pirate Bay was going to slow down, the boys at ThePirateBay are working to replace P2P as a whole by developing a brand new P2P protocal to replace bittorrent since BitTorrent Inc is no longer making additions to the source code entirely open which TPB belives grants them too much influence and the possible hole that they will eventually be forced to put tracking and reporting into the softwar...

WOW Buffalo banned for selling 802.11a/g in USA
2007-10-31 08:00:00
Well here comes a huge smash to the wireless industry at least in my eyes considering I just buffalo routers on a regular basis their pretty much the only ones I see as worth using. It turns out that the Australian based Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) has just won a patent infringement suit against buffalo in a US District court, while enjoining sales of all of Buffalo 's 802.11a/g and n products made by buffalo as of October 1st. CSIRO is suing the ENTIRE WIRELESS INDUSTRY so buffalo has got a massive list of friends fining briefs on their behalf including just to name a few Microsoft, 3COM, SMC, Accton Tehnology, Intel, Atheros, Belkin, HP, Dell, Nortel Nvidia, Oracle, SAP AG, Yahoo, Nokia as well as the Consumer Electronics Association. This is no small thing if buffalo doesn't win it's appeal it clears the way for CSIRO to take action against the entire rest of the industry we're talking just about ever big tech company in the US and w...

Blackjack is just so fun and easy :)
2007-10-30 08:57:00
You know at one point I was a finatic for solitaire but it just took so darn long and considering I only managed to win probably 5% of the time. Now I'm all for a difficult game but when I'm playing a game that's mostly based on luck I really hate loosing so much. Then I started playing blackjack with some friends just fooling around and it's still luck based but at least the chances of winning are a lot higher. Beyond the fact that you win more than once in a billion games what also makes blackjack a good bit more interesting is that the games can go by very quickly in and of themselves. But they aren't stupid and quick with definite decision making requirements such as the decisions to double down or not able to throw a match into disarray and flip the tables in a competition. With gammonish's latest blackjack release they've upped the ante a bit with full blown competitions and cash tournaments. The multiplayer tables allow for you to play against not just the house but ...

Most powerful antimatter beam ever, next stop Warp Drive?
2007-10-28 08:18:00
You know it's kind of odd how real life mimmicks science fiction over time. It's happened in all kinds of ways some are so similar its almost insane. From the current research into shields and lasers to aircraft designs and futuristic concept cars. Well it turns out that something else is on its way. Researchers from North Carolina's PULSTAR nuclear reactor facility have fired an antimatter beam that's five times stronger than any ever created in the past. What's interesting is the antimatter device at current is being researched for what it can be used for such as an antimatter telescope which would allow even closer observcations of atomic interactions. But what I find most interesting is that from the images this baby's looking a lot like the warp drive from star trek. This is probably even cooler than an life insurance no medical exam plan to a penny pincher. Those of you trekies that might recall, guess what powered the star trek warp engine, they kind of mention it in ...

France for my trip?
2007-10-28 08:06:00
What's interesting is since I've been really cracking down trying to find a place to travel to Franc e came up in discussion as a possible choice. I got a bit more interested when we came across some good deals on france accommodations but this is really just making things a bit more insane on figuring out where we want to go. With the lower cost of travel recently especially France travel plans that seem to be slowly in a declined price range. But the information we've found so far on france just adds a bit to the confusion on what I want to do because of all the other locations that are available.

HDDVD players starting falling below 200$ all over!
2007-10-28 08:00:00
Well friday it was announced that Walmart had the Toshiba A2 HDDVD player on sale in select stores for 198$ being the first hidef player to break the 200$ barrier. The problem was it was only in store so those of us overseas were a bit out of luck. But theirs good news Circuit City has unveiled the Toshiba A2 HD DVD player also for under 200$ coming in at a wicked $197.99 online. If this is the beginning of a great movement of HDDVD players lower in cost then it's definitly something to get excited about. With some wicked movies out and coming out on HDDVD, and with other bluray titles available on HDDVD from overseas it's amazing considering its all posibble thanks to HDDVD being region free. So now people can afford their contemporary bedroom furniture as well as a solid High Definition video experience and not just one or the other. People might recall what analysts said early on, the real desiding factor on the nextgen format war was that the first players to be readily a...

OSX 10.5 leaks 2 days early, 1 day after release its available to general I
2007-10-28 07:49:00
Yep Intel just can't catch a break with their Leopard release, not because of problems but with keeping it tied down. First the retail leaked 2 days before it hit retail stores and today we've got word from the OSx86 community that they've managed to get 10.5 Leopard running on standard generic Intel PCs. What's even more exciting for my whitebox friends is that this baby is pretty darn easy as hacks come across. All you need is the copy of Leopard, a burnable DVD, USB drive and a bit of luck. While everything hasn't been super tested so far but the OSx86 community is still working on testing and expanding their support and continuing the simplification of getting it as easy as things go. What's a bit concerning though is that this took 1 day to crack, and people wonder why it is that people bitch at microsoft for their WGA and other security measures... The fact is apple might not be concerned, but when microsoft has to deal with hundreds of millions of copies any % o...

A flash component to make even me a bit excited :)
2007-10-23 09:16:00
You all might have noticed I'm a bit of a minimalist especially when it comes to things like my website and I'm normally like that with all development project's it's just I've never been good at graphics really. But their come times when I come across something perhaps a graphic or a component or feature that it's so compelling I almost want to rip a whole open to find somewhere to show it off. I found something like that it's a 3D Environment generator in flash. It's not designed to be photorealistic or anything but what amazed me was just how fast the system was. The system looks extremely easy to use but what's funny is when I read through the way the component works I kind of understand why it's so fast. You see it's not really a 3d scape. The component adds the perspective and depth perception to make it feel like the interface is in 3 dimensions. But you really have to see the examples to understand why I was so impressed. They loaded nearly instantly, yes they w...

Alienware joins the trade-in market with the AlienExchange
2007-10-23 09:04:00
Alien Exchange sounds like a poorly named foreign exchange student program but it's not. It's the latest to come out of the boys and girls at Alienware the high end rocking computer systems. Personally I always found their prices a bit bloated but hey you pay for quality I suppose especially when compaired to companys like eMachines. Speaking of eMachines, Alienware has done something to bring their prices a bit closer to the lower end of the pricing spectrum. No their not discounting their products, no their giving consumers a way to earn some cash towards the new system. The new AlienExchange system is designed so you can trade in anything electronic from cellphones to MP3 Players to gameconsoles and digital cameras. You name it and it's probably available to be traded in. Once you fill in what you want to trade and you agree that it's good enough they will pay for the postage and get you the package to send the piece to them. In exchange you can recieve either an Alienware...

Apple shipped 1,119,000 iPhones in Q4m 250k to unlockers?
2007-10-23 08:56:00
According to the latest numbers for the quarter ending Sept 29th Apple shows they have sold a total of 1,119,000 iPhones. It's a big year in other parts of Apples devisions as well with boosted iPod sales of 17% and 34% increase in mac sales. What I find most interesting about the numbers however is the fact that Apple says out of the 1 million sold in Q4 a total of around 250,000 were sold to people known to have bought the phones for unlocking or for export. That's almost a quarter of the total number of phones were bought to be unlocked thats no insignificant number. On one hand the 1/4th makes it all the more evident why apple is combating the unlocks considering they get paid by at&t to keep the phones tied to their system. But on the other hand if they do kill the iPhones or brick them or block their calls etc. That's 1/4th of all the currently sold hardware thats being ignored and 1/4 of the customers pissed off. I'd hate to be in apples shoes if you ask me. Only t...
Forget b/w e-paper the boys at bridgestone are showing off fullcolor!
2007-10-23 08:37:00
Well boys and girls the days of paper thin displays that are fully colored and ready to rock our worlds is getting closer by the day. You might recall over the last few months my mention of the new e-ink displays that are completely flexible and ultrathin (0.29 millimeters thin :) ) The same company that unveiled the worlds thinest twocolor epaper is now no longer bragging about their 2 color paper why? Because the same company (bridgestone) has announcd their new 0.29mm 4096 color e-paper that's a full eight inches in size. But it gets even better for those of you watching the e-paper marketplace. They have announced the worlds largest full color e-paper that is a full A3 size, measuring a whopping 21.4". Can anyone start to forsee the end of newspapers :) Now only if they can get them to market for dirt cheap then we would really have something to get excited about. Right now the latter is only scheduled for the advertising market and could hit early next year with the...

Book Reports and Beyond
2007-10-22 09:48:00
You might recall my discussions of the shortcuts that are available to today's students like the Custom Term Paper Writing Service from essay capital. But what I noticed is no one seems to realize how in depth these services go, I mean getting someone to write you a report on an obscure poem or open topic seems easy and of course someone would do that for a small feel but what my brother didn't realize is that these groups actually go to the point of writing completely custom Book Reports on whatever book you might have been assigned something that I can't say for a lot of people I know personally even for a fee. The one fear I have in using a service especially one that's going to do something as complex as Essay Writing or a term paper or an entire book report is that somehow it would ever get back to my teachers that I used a service. For me it's not that big of a deal because I live outside the US and they tend to be a little less dedicated to hunting down reports written...
Mass Effect LE... limited in more than quantity?
2007-10-22 09:38:00
It appears that the Limited Edition copy of the Upcoming big boy Blockbuster Mass Effect stands to be limited in a new way beyond just the number of copies sold. The Mass Effect Limited Edition version has been confirmed to be an Online Only Limited Edition available only through EB and GameStop's website. It seems a bit odd but hey who's gonna fight with em the fact is a bad a$$ game is a bad a$$ game and if you want to get the LE copy then just go grab it from online it ends up saving you a trip to the mall anyway. Ok so maybe I overstated a bit LOL, other stores may have them in-store, but when it comes to EB Games and Gamestop they will not have the game located in their physical stores and they are restricting the limited edition version to their online website. Other franchises will most likely have them for sale in their stores, and EB and Gamestop will have the standard copies available in their stores. It's a bit confusing and I don't personally get why or the poin...

Wow Apple just can't catch a break, iMac screens now all wet?
2007-10-22 09:31:00
Well the news just keeps getting worse for Apple computers doesn't it. First the iPod Classic has bad performance and crappy reviews, then the iMac has freezing and crashing issues, followed up by the Classic again with more problems and now apparently we are back to a new problem over at the iMac group. This time it appears that Apple support is being inundated with complaints from quite a few people that are reporting their new iMac's are getting condensation under their screens in the lower corners and then after a while it goes away and then it comes back as the temperture drops. Now last I checked moisture + computer equipment is one of the original computer commandments as a big no no. So if yours is starting to do this don't wait to report it get in contact with Apple Support IMMEDIATELY and hopefully they'll fix it or replace it or something because this is unacceptable. Battery upgrade for prius offers 150mpg, and why its kinda bad news
2007-10-22 09:25:00
You know something like a battery pack upgrade for one of the most popular hybrid cars is a great thing and it should be. But theirs something that I find to be a bit of bad news. The extra power allowing the car to go a total of 50 miles on pure battery is to be sold for a total of 9,500$ on top of your already pricy Prius. Yes the price includes installation but from the way they talk about it the installation isn't a big deal it goes right in the trunk under the mat. Now i'm sorry I'm all for efficiency and I want our planet to heal and for us to drive eco friendly cars. But the fact of the matter is we are never going to get anywhere as long as prices are so high. I mean 10,000$ for an upgrade hell some new cars are only a little more than that battery pack. Yes indeed their are some new government rebates that will see you get back somewhere around half of the cost, but the problem remains why the hell should a bank of batterys cost 10k$. It just doesn't make sense to me...

Professional essay writing online? Where was this 5 years ago
2007-10-22 09:12:00
You know school was a bi*ch for me, I mean I was pretty good at it but I never liked writing most of all. I was good at things like math but writing just took so much time. In my senior year my girlfriend helped me out a lot with them especially the longer ones you see shes always wants to be a journalist so writing was her fortay. Well now theirs something quite interesting since the internet has become the end all place for finding things. You see in the past their were places you could go to download College Essay s but the problem was that even high school teachers started noticing the duplicate copies even if they were spread over a year or 2, so needless to say that only lasted so long before it was a moot point. That's what I had to deal with back in the day, but today things are a bit different with Custom Term Paper Writing Service provided by places like essay capital that for a fee will actually to professional college level reports and they guarantee that each one is co...

iPhone gets Leopard's dock stacks :) Via 3rd party :P Apple
2007-10-22 08:48:00
Ok one of the cool new features from Leopard (OSX 10.5) is the Dock 's new Stack ability. Basically it takes a bunch of applications or videos or other items and stacks them on top of one another. When you click the stack they slide out so you can choose one. It's one of the more impressive features but we never thought we would have come across someone actually taking the time to port the new feature to the iPhone. Yes someone actually made an upgrade to the iPhone's dock feature and has added the ability for stacks. As you can see from the video above it's quite a good little addon. The only thing is it's not really a 100% port. As right now the stack is an overlay placed in the lower right corner it's not actually part of the dock unfortunately that's sort of the reason after the applicaton opens its still visible even though the dock isn't. The other part that doesn't match up with Leopard is I have yet to see the "too many" icons slide out version. In...

Nothing like a good game of blackjack
2007-10-21 09:32:00
Their really isn't a better game than a blackjack game. I don't know why but even in real life it's such a simple and quick game I always loved playing it in my downtime, especially when their isn't time for a long game of solitaire. Now grabbing a deck of cards is always the easiest way and seems logical. But in the computer age and with all the new Web 2.0 sites and casinos opening up theirs a large amount of blackjack sites that have been springing up in the past few years. I kind of like gammonish's style of gaming from the simple online blackjack games to the more complex backgammon download that is another source of fun on my more boring days at work. While not as simple as blackjack it was a pretty easy game to take up I've played it a few times in the past with my mom and it's easy to pick up and get a hold of it it's kind of like that game that's sits between the difficulty of chess and checkers. The fact that gammonish's backgammon and blackjack systems allow f...

AntiRape dress, sounds interesting, looks kind of insane
2007-10-21 09:11:00
I just can't believe a company actually developed something like this, while i'm 110% for anything to protect women from rape and attack I just don't see how this thing would actually work out. I mean come on a Japanese company that makes a fold out dress that looks like a coke machine, i mean realistically would this fool anyone? and if someones getting attacked how exactly is the woman going to get away in time to get away and then set it up and then still manage to fool the attacker? And if it's cloth are they hoping that the attackers are either in such a rush they don't notice the glass isn't glassa and the metal isnt metal? Not to mention the other little issue what if the background doesn't match? Source: Gizmodo
