Mars has pulled a Snickers commercial featuring Mr. T of the A-Team fame. Mars announced the decision "following communication between the HRC Workplace Project and Mars." The ad features a dainty man being shot by Mr. T with Snickers for speed walking. The ad concludes with the tagline "Get some nuts". Snickers was also criticized for a Super Bowl ad in 2007. In the ad two men expressed disgust after accidentally kissing.

You have to be on the phone for 8 to 10 hours a day, deal with overbearing managers, average call times, computer illiterate users, pissed off users, and people who seem to have never interacted with another being in a social manner. People get angry about the two thousand dollar purchase they just made. They want someone to come out and fix the problem in person. I can sympathize...the fine print is nasty.   I'm going to post a few of these in the coming weeks. This call is a good example of the types of calls that you must deal with. You will notice plenty of silence. I was stunned. I put her on hold a few times as well. I was trying to figure out wtf to do, desperately looking around the cube farm for help from someone. There is obviously something wrong with the person on the phone. I tried to help her as much as possible. If she had gotten another tech she might not have been as lucky. justin.tv and their ongoing battle with griefers

The guys at justin.tv have had an interesting couple of days since launch. I have to admit it. I like watching it. If you are not familiar it's basically Ed TV. Justin wears a camera 24/7. The video is streamed using 4 EVDO cards. It works pretty well. They suffered a bit the first couple days. It seems you give people an audience and a way to communicate and you get...interesting. Launch day was a learning experience for the 4 of them. It didn't take long before they had the usual 70% garbage in their chatrooms. Justin.tv has a cellphone for the program but by mid-day people were already calling Michael and Justin's personal lines. That night digitalgangster.com posted a chunk of personal info on Justin, Emmett and Adam (who isn't even directly involved). Anonymous Browsing Without the Hassle

I've had the idea for a while to set up a seperate browser that is strictly for anonymous surfing. I hadn't explored that idea until today. I did a search or two first. I always assume someone has done it before and done it better. This time I kept coming across TorPark. The TorPark site is a turn off for me. It looks like it's turning into a commercial venture. There is still a free download for TorPark but this line bothers me "0 ~ 40 Kbps". What does that mean exactly? Are they imposing some sort of bandwith cap or does that just reflect the natural slowness of the tor network? So I decided to configure something similar on my own. 1. Today I started poking around looking for domain registration information. I'm turning into a public information seeking freak. I'm still doing my research but I did find a form for access to the ARIN data. I filled it out and sent it off so I guess we'll see what happens. Keep in mind that use of the data is restricted: The ARIN WHOIS data is for Internet operational or technical research purposes pertaining to Internet operations only. It may not be used for advertising, direct marketing, marketing research, or similar purposes. Use of ARIN WHOIS data for these activities is explicitly forbidden. ARIN requests to be notified of any such activities or suspicions thereof. Redistributing bulk ARIN WHOIS data is explicitly forbidden.
