Nxx, does the number really matter?

It's just a question that came into my mind today. Does the number beside the 'N' really matter? If you say it's related to the phone's form factor, I tell you the N80 and the N82 are not alike and N73 is similar to N82 in shape. If you say it's related to the functionality, I tell you the N81 is gaming dedicated and the N80 is more devoted to Internet, while N73, N93 are both imaging dedicated and yet, carry different tens. Take a look at the N-Series: N70, N71, N72, N73, N75, N76 N80, N81, N81 N90, N91, N92, N93, N95 Are numbers really assigned to different devices according to certain conditions? Or they're just named randomly? And why do they skip the 4s, like no N94 or N74?! Help me out if you've got answers..

I thought about making a list of the best Internet applications in S60v3 field. It might be useful for many users, specially S60 beginners. So far, phones that came with integrated hard drive, came in 4GB or 8GB maximum. Like the N91, N95 8GB, and the N81 8GB. Is this about to change? Will we hear something like N82 40GB, or a new N96 and its variant N96 40GB? I guess we will. Samsung fired it's A1 flash card sized micro hard drives which come in 30GB and 40GB, and measure 42.8mm x 36.4mm x 5mm with high shock resistance. With these specifications, those micro monsters are ideal for use in portable devices, and no doubt soon they will be embedded in smartphones. Sounds exciting huh? Can't wait! [via: Press Release]

Once upon a time, the N73, the N80 and the N93 were kings of smartphones. N73 was the king of imaging, N80 was the Internet and Connectivity king, and N93 was the multimedia and gaming king.. Their powers even increased when they evolved into N73 ME, N80ie, and N93i. There were no other phones that could bare their strength, power, and attractiveness... until came.. N95.. the predator. Carl at Nokia N95 Blog revealed a surprise about the N95 8GB. While he was browsing his N95's Manual (arabic version), which he bought back in August, he found a weird title: Get the most out of your Nokia N95 Sized 8GB. So what does that mean? A New N95 8GB firmware v15.0.015 has hit the NSU . So far the big change that has been spotted it that is comes with Flash lite3! And yes like you read above, it supports flash videos, therefore you can watch now all your favorite video on YouTube, the PC version not the mobile one. Yesterday, I was running through the papers when an article took my attention: "Other uses for cell phones". I decided to take a look on the article, wondering what other uses it's hiding. So far, mobile phones have many uses other than the fact they were to make calls. They're digital cameras, mp3 players, remote controls, GPS devices, Internet browsers... and the list continues. But here is new trick that perhaps never came into your mind. Suppose your car has an electronic key(remote), and you've forgotten the key inside your car. Most probably you'll have a spare key at home. Pick up your phone, call any one at home, let them hold the spare remote right near their phone and press the unlock button. If you are close enough to the car, voila! It's unlocked ;) This might be old news for some people, but I've just learnt about it and decided to share it with everybody. Who knows, maybe it'll save them sometime..

Nokmote Leaked

Last week, Samir finished the first beta of his amazing application Nokmote. Samir stated that Nokmote will be a freeware and will remain a freeware, nevertheless, during the development of this application, only donators will receive all beta releases. As usual, beta testers leak betas, that's a tradition. I was able to get my hands on the leaked beta of Nokmote. I can hear you say "skip the talking where's the download link?!" This might disappoint lots of people but I am not going to post a download link, why? Because Samir is a great guy who works hard to produce amazing applications that even professional companies couldn't think of making. And all are free! Rotate Me, Rotate Me 2.0, HorlogeParlante, YTPlayer, Nokmote, and upcoming shutup; all are freeware. Samir asked the donators not to leak the beta, I am not a donator, but I don't think Samir deserves to have his request ignored. Therefore, I'm not posting a download link.

Rumored about 5 months ago, the N82's XML file is out and it isn't a rumor anymore. It's a 5Mpx Camera, Carl Zeiss optics, with autofocus and XENON Flash!! Also there is Wlan, Bluetooth, AD2P, built-in GPS and runs on S60v3 FP1. I definitely want one!!!
