WORK IT, A BLOG FOR WORKING MOMS
2007-09-28 10:58:00
Mothers have been working since the end of time. I, myself, grew up in a home where my mom left the house from 7am and returned at 7pm. However, before the days of the blogosphere moms didn't really have anyone to share their stories with and their concerns. Well, those days are so over. Now moms everywhere can turn to this great blog: WORK IT, A BLOG FOR WORKING MOMS and read the numerous different voices about the complexities of motherhood, working and managing life. I visit this blog regularly and it helps me know that I am not the...

ALEX RICHARDS
2007-09-27 10:48:00
Hi everyone, today I have a special guest: ALEX RICHARDS. She's a New Yorker, just like I once was, and also the author of Back Talk. Goodbye small town hell . . . hello Big Apple! Sixteen-year-old Gemma Winters couldn?t be more ecstatic?and terrified?about scoring a summer internship at one of the hippest daytime TV talk shows, Back Talk with Kate Morgan. To top it off, she?s staying in a palatial brownstone in Manhattan with celebutante Dana Cox (a virtual E! True Hollywood Story in the making) and world-weary millionheiress America Vanderbilt. Gemma?s corn-fed naiveté melts away as she gets...

BOOKS LOVE ME...
2007-09-26 10:54:00
I wish I could say that I met Josette in her home country of Malaysia, but I'm not that lucky, although I'm dying to go and see this beautiful country. However, that's the nice thing about the blogosphere. It brings the world together and makes it so small. Here is a woman that has similar interests as me, loves books and chit chat. So come on over, munch on some choc chip cookies and enjoy her blog, and check out what she wrote about me:) Here's her blog: BOOKS LOVE ME...

TWISTED FAIRY TALE
2007-09-22 11:46:00
Today I'm pleased to be invited onto Isabelle Santiago's Twisted Fairytale blog. She is a romance writer with a twist. Her book 'Twisted Fairytale' has one of the most intriguing stories I've ever encountered: The book is in honor of more unconventional love stories. These are tales of heartache, of history, of betrayal. The heroes have been, or perhaps still are, villains in their own tales. The heroines are forced to choose not between right and wrong, but between good and better, and many people get hurt along the way. It's not about a happy ending. These stories celebrate the...

SLUMBER PARTIES, BIRTHDAY PARTIES, AND OTHER SO-CALLED FUN DAYS
2007-07-27 00:39:00
i've been letting my son have a little buddy over for a few sleep overs. the kid is 4 years older than my son. yes, i know 4 years is not much, but when my son is 3 and the other kid is 7, the differences can add up. for one thing, my little man thinks it's totally ok to whip out sticks and slam them against his little friend's head. he also thinks, it's totally ok to never share with him and constantly cry that everything is his, his, his. throwing tamper tantrums to get whats his, while the...

MY HOUSE DILEMMA
2007-07-27 00:39:00
for any of you who can remember way back to when i was writing regularly on my blog, the problems i was having with my house building. well, thankfully, it came to end. well, the only reason that happened was because we finally couldn't take it anymore and had to take a major hiatus. however!!! the idiots, i mean the crooks, oops... i mean my contruction workers, who were building my house, left my house unfinished. but to simply get them out of our lives we decided to pay them what was originally in the contract. but, even if my...

skateboarding and other fear factors
2007-07-27 00:39:00
my husband is borderline adrenaline junkie without wanting to admit it. i mean, he's not exactly diving off 80 foot cliffs or scaling highrisers just for the hell of it. but let's just say that he's counting down the days until our little man hits the ripe old age of 5 so they can go skateboarding together. in the meantime...my hubby, is out bruising his body in preparation for the days when my son will be falling flat on his face and he'll be able to say: that's ok son, cause look at my great big scar from when i...

A WONDERFUL PROGRAM
2007-04-09 23:16:00
Hi everyone, i have just received this email from one of my readers. it´s a great program and anyone could help out and participate in it. please check it out and help! Nothing brings children outdoors faster than a warm and sunny day.  As summer approaches and the sun begins to set at a slower pace, sandboxes, water tables, play tents, and balls, as well as other toys which have spent the cold months behind walls will get dragged outside by giggling children and their parents.  It is the time when parents are eager to fill those long summer days with fun and educational activities to keep their children’s development going during the off season. When it comes to play time, children with disabilities are no different than other children.  There are over 6.2 million children with disabilities in the United States , roughly 13% of the total child population. Shouldn’t these children be given the opportunity to enjoy the summer just as much as children without ...

time for action
2007-02-28 19:50:00
the time has come to take action.  there is only so much you can accomplish by WANTING   to do it.   To actually do it you must move in that direction. it begins with looking around in your life and seeing what can be changed.  where your conflicts lay.  how can you make your family and yourself healthier, living more naturally, with less artificialities.  how can you get out of the box and see that there is alternatives.where have you lost the control of taking care of your family and yourself.  lets begin.  every corner of our lives has been contaminated by corporations and the quick buy or the quick sale of cheaper goods rather than understanding the repercussions of the products we are sooo accustomed to buying.and let's face it, in this hectic world of go go go, living healthier is time consuming. but where the hell are we rushing if living unhealthily will kill us prematurely, send our children to hospitals, raise our medical ...

another post from an interesting person
2007-02-27 18:23:00
i've been a bit lax on my blog due to other problems i'm experiencing with my house and researching ways to get out of my confliction of living in an unnatural world by finding ways to feed my family better, by doing more natural, ecologically friendly activities and changing our lifestyle. sometimes, we don't really understand the consequences of how we are living until the evidence is sooo in our faces that we are forced to change. here is a comment i received from one of my readers. this really hits us hard on the head. yet, we wait until somehting like this happens to us or our loved ones before we realize, wait if only i did this... lived in costa rica, 22 kms south of los chiles, for 15 months in 2004/2005.  7 months after returning to canada, dec 2005, i started having medical concerns and have recently been diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma (blood cancer).  information on this disease says it's thought to be cause by pesticides and/or chemicals.  i st...

2007-02-23 18:20:00
after starting my new blog posting, i have already received some interesting comments. i am trying to start from scratch. to change our old ways to the new. slowly, cause we all know that a drastic change will lead to a dead end. however, in the interim i received this one article in particular that exposes a much deeper perception and effects of our artificial world. keep tuned to my families change program. i hope you all can join us as we start little by little disposing all the crap out and putting good stuff in!!!!!!! *The link between Mind and Social / Environmental-Issues.* The fast-paced, consumerist lifestyle of Industrial Society is causing exponential rise in psychological problems besides destroying the environment. All issues are interlinked. Our Minds cannot be peaceful when attention-spans are down to nanoseconds, microseconds and milliseconds. Our Minds cannot be peaceful if we destroy Nature. *Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment.* Subj...

WHERE TO BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!
2007-02-23 15:55:00
this is an extremely important question to ask.  my options and choices are extremely limited in many ways:there's barely any selection in stores to sustain an organic, green, natural lifestyle.we have an extremely limited bank account.sometimes it's simply unavoidable! so where do i begin?????????this is the million dollar question and the center focus of this blog. the time has come to convert my ways, if not only for me but for my son.  join us!!!!let's work together.  I'll be writing what we do and how we tackle cleaning our house and home of man-tainted products. also the fact that i have to answer to YOU helps me keep my family and me in check and not disappoint the readers because then I'm lying to you and worse of all to me!!!all i know that something has to be done to save us, our children and our earth. it starts with each one of us. not some random movement of unknown people but us!!!

a little about what's happening
2007-02-22 15:55:00
first I'd like to give a recap of who i am and why the change in lifestyle has become a priority to me.I'm an expat living in Costa Rica with my Guatemalan husband and my 3 year old son.  Costa Rica's main marketing logo is:no artificial ingredients this is supposed to mean it's healthy, Eco conscious and on it's way to a greener way of life.wrong!!!!!!!!Costa Rica is the number one country in all of Latin America to import the most amount of pesticides this side of the planet.it's the number one country to have stomach and colon cancer, thanks to the pesticides.there are never ending articles in newspapers and reward signs for people who have resorted to literally using the preserved rainforests and desolate beaches as garbage dumps.organic foods are very far and few between.i have found a wonderful organic delivery service to my house.  whenever i ask for most things they never have them, the Farmer's farms are usually not producing enough or the production has s...

hi everyone, life has seemed to take a little turn for me.  for some crazy reason the majority of people around me are sick.  i'm talking mainly about costa ricans, and also my husband and i have been coming down with weird stomach pains and cramps.  these issues have opened our eyes more and more to the world around us.we have become extremely concerned with what we are ingesting and using, and now that we have a son, the concern has amplified to push us to make some drastic changes in life.i am still going to be journaling about life in costa rica but have switched it to this site:family journal  this new blog is going to be all about our changes in our lifestyle and joining the other people who have the same ideals as us:to live a healthy, natural, organic lifestyle.i would love it if you all join me on our journey to new lands!!! and hopefully healthier ones.

10 REASONS TO TRAVEL WITH KID! (Even if it is only to the co
2006-10-26 22:30:04
To get out of the house before my 2-year-old determinedly achieves making my head and/or my husband?s into a flat-board for his diving expertise. To avoid hearing my son demand I draw his hand on any random surface, AGAIN! To see new places and teach him something other than ?do you need to go pee-pee/ca-ca?? To wear him out so he can develop a big hole in his belly and finally eat without me ripping my hair out or crying for him to take just one teensy-weensy morsel of the food I?ve slaved over for hours so he can have some ?spice? in his life, because      god-forbid if a toddler eats something with less than eight words in the      title. And, of course, the reason for his NOT eating is because ?y cooking is too boring?for him and I have to cook up extravagant concoctions of mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, pasta, and meats! To wear him out completely on someone else?s turf so he can sleep like a ?baby?. For me to see something other than my f...

Kid Friendly Costa Rica
2006-10-26 22:30:04
First and foremost who in Cost a Rica doesn?t have a kid! And if they don?t, there?s one on the way. It?s contagious. Even us, ex-pats, are multiplying like bunnies down here. My husband and I have made a sport out of counting the amount of pregnant women we see on the street within an hour. On average I?d say eight to ten. So you can understand how great Ticos (friendly acronym Costa Rica ns use for themselves) are with kids. I?m one of those people who never noticed babies, puppies or other supposedly-cute living things. But that?s so unlike the people who inhabit this country. Women and girls will cross highways and roaring crossways to coo, ahh and pick up your child. Even older men will sneak in a quick game of peek-a-boo. However, the most shocking contradiction is the local teens. Being that I was an extremely self-absorbed, self-centered teen myself, seeing these punked-out adolescents with spikes for bracelets, ripped jeans and hunched over backs breakout of heated, passio...
