PHI-PHI ISLANDS
2007-11-18 16:56:00
Krabi's main attractions are the numerous and yet unspoiled beaches nearby that offer a wealth of snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities. The most important is Hat Noppharat Thara-Ko Phi Phi National Park, better known as Phi-Phi Island, due west and south of Phuket Town. The park contains extensive mainland beaches, over 80 lesser islands, and two islands of outstanding physical yet contrasting beauty which have become the symbol of the perfect tropical island. The boat ride to Phi Phi Lea and Phi Phi Don from Krabi Town's Chao Fah Bridge Pier, at the right time of year, November to April, is a pleasant journey and can take anything from an hour and a quarter to three hours depending on the size of boat taken. The rest of the year conditions in the Andaman Sea can be choppy and the weather can cause involuntary changes of travel plans while at sea. Phi Phi Lea covers an area of just six square kilometer and is characterized by rugged, steep and lightly vegetated cliffs risin...

2007-11-05 16:01:00
When you are vacationing on Koh Samui , you'll be enjoying the beaches, the waterfalls and the active nightlife, you'll still need a place to stay, and some of the best places to stay on Thailand 's third largest island are the rented villas! The villas of Koh Samui are inexpensive and they can provide you with a degree of privacy that's hard to get in some of the larger resorts. When you stay on one of Koh Samui's beautiful villas, you get a real idea of what it's like to live on this island paradise. When you are planning out your vacation accommodations, you might automatically dismiss the villas as being to expensive. Depending on your situation though, they could be exactly the right choice for you! For instance, if you are planning to stay for longer than two weeks, or even a week and half, the rates of the villa suddenly become a lot more manageable. In the long term, they are cheaper than staying at the resorts, and much more comfortable as well. While you might feel un...

Naklua Beach in Chonburi
2007-10-07 05:56:00
In Naklua, the northern part of Pattaya where also a lot of  Thai-families spending their holidays,  live is much more quiet than on other beaches. The former fishing village  is now the commercial center of Pattaya featuring a lot of Condominiums, apartment houses stores and markets, where the local population are going  shopping. In even some Sois, live is rural.  There are three main areas in Pattaya. Pattaya Beach is the central stretch of coastline that supports some of ?raunchier? aspects of local tourism; bars, restaurants, go-go ? pretty much a hedonist?s paradise! Jomtien Beach is much more laid back, offering family friendly establishments and excellent windsurfing. Naklua Beach is the most northerly of the bays and by far the quietest. Naklua is much smaller than its neighbours and it does not suffer from the mass development Pattaya Beach has experienced. Like Jomtien it is more family friendly. The Pattaya municipality spent 1.8 million Baht on ...

Jomtien Beach :: Chonburi
2007-10-07 05:50:00
Featuring a long straight coastline and long white sand beach, Jomtien Beach is located around 2 kilometers from its less salubrious neighbour ? Pattaya Beach. Whereas Pattaya Beach is more geared for the party animal, Jomtien Beach has carved a niche as a more ?family-friendly? environment. Like its neighbour, Jomtien Beach is popular for water sports such as jet skiing, but with water that is considerably less murky, it is also a much more attractive location for swimming. Given its natural wind conditions and calm sea, Jomtien Beach is also a destination of choice for wind surfers, and a number of instructors work from the area. Jomtien features every conceivable type of accommodation available to those who want to stay in the area. Like Pattaya Beach, Jomtien hosts an expatriate community but doesn?t have the edge Pattaya Beach does. It does though have just as many great restaurants offering cuisine from every corner of the globe. It also has as many hawkers, plying anything fr...

Klong Muang Beach - Krabi
2007-10-04 16:28:00
Krabi's latest beach destination, Muang Klong is aiming upmarket with 5 star and boutique hotels like the Sheraton Krabi Resort, the Nakamanda and the Tubkaak Resort located here.    Unlike Ao Nang it doesn't have the impressive cliffs immediately towering over the beach, but it does have powder white sand that stretches into the distance around 3 kilometres. Klong Muang Beach     Klong Muang is undisturbed - almost available solely for its exclusive guests and a few fishermen. The beach seems to go on forever along the coast, with a small island at one end - home to local seabirds and rockpools full of life. It's the kind of beach, to just sit and contemplate, especially at sunset. Dozens of tiny islands lie dotted on the horizon and to the south, at Laem Ham Nak, is a Royal residence of the Princess.    The local village at the back of the beach is still in its infancy with a few shops, including the obligatory tailor's shop and a ha...

Mai Khao Beach
2007-09-29 13:05:00
Located in the Nai Yang National Park, Mai Khao Beach at the northern end of Phuket Island has a total length of nine kilometers and is the longest beach on Phuket. It is a place full of peace and serenity to the visitor.Mai Khao is one of the few beaches in Thailand, where still sea turtles land to lay their eggs. They can be occasionally sighted by divers in the area.To prevent the numbers of sea turtles from dwindling further, there are annual efforts to protect the beach in the nesting season between November and February. On  Songkran, the nationwide Thai water festival on April 13, baby turtles are released into the sea at various locations.Because of its remote location, there is almost no development, so if you are in search of a remote and isolated beach for yourself, this is it.  Camping is allowed at various locations on the beach within the campgrounds.This beach can be highly recommended for just relaxing, walking on the sand or combing the beach for shells. Along the way, from the Khao Phanthurat viewpoint, you can see the whole bay with its magnificent 2.5 kilometers crescent shaped beach.  The northern end of the unspoiled and scenic bay features a sandy beach, shaded by Casuarina trees. The atmosphere is very relaxed and it is a very pleasant location for those who are looking for a quiet place for sunning or taking a long quiet stroll along an almost deserted beach.Kamala Bay provides besides its family attractions good swimming in crystal clear water on its northern end. To explore the coral reefs just a few meters offshore, all you need are fins and a snorkel to enjoy the underwater beauty. Similan Islands
2007-09-22 14:33:00
This group of rocks and islands lies 90 minutes by speedboat off the coast of Phang-Nga, or eight or more hours by slow boat from Phuket. The area was declared a marine national park in 1982 and consequently remains largely undeveloped. Derived from the Malay term sembilan, meaning 'nine', Similan refers to the nine main islands in the group.The waters surrounding the Similans are teeming with tropical fish, colourful coral, and offer exceptional underwater visibility. As a result, the diving is generally considered to be the best in the region, and compares favourably with some of the best in the world. (see more about diving here).  Part of the reason for this is the very interesting submarine topography, due in part to the huge granite boulders which not only litter the shorelines, but also lie in jumbled heaps beneath the waves to depths of 35 metres and beyond. On surface the boulders, together with the lush rainforest and white sand beaches, provide a peaceful refuge. ...

Bang Tao Beach :: Phuket
2007-09-17 17:04:00
Is a 8 km long sweeping crescent shaped bay with a gentle slope and absolutely pure white sand and is fringed with rows of casuarina trees. The constant but gentle breeze on this bay has made Bang tao Beach very popular with windsurfers and it plays host to several international competitions each year. The main entrance to Bangtao beach is 2 km north of Surin Village and marked with large signs from the sprawling Laguna Phuket complex that takes up most of the middle of the bay. This remarkable complex of five luxury resort hotels integrated into one into what appears to be small city by the sea. The Banyan Tree Phuket, The Allamanda, Dusit Laguna, and the Sheraton Phuket all employ the same low rise village style architecture that are uniquely designed to blend with the vastness of the old tin mine which is what this area used to be. The old tin mining lake is now a beautifully landscaped lagoon that serves as a watersports center. This is a classic example of the modern one-stop...
Koh Phi Phi (Phi Phi Islands)
2007-09-07 16:09:00
Regarded by travelers from all walks of life as being among the most beautiful tropical islands of the world, Phi Phi Islands have become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Thailand. In addition, the islands are famous as the location where the movie "The Beach" featuring Leonardo Di Caprio was shot. The islands, together with the nearby Noppharat Thara Beach, a total area of 390 square kilometers, were recently established as a national park. Phi Phi Islands are located just 40 kilometers away from both Krabi and Phuket. Thus, despite the fact that both Noppharat Thara Beach and Phi Phi administratively are a part of Krabi Province, most tourists think that Ko Phi Phi is part of Phuket Province. The islands and the coastal hills are composed mainly of limestone and are an extension of the limestone mountain range in Phang-Nga Province. The main characteristics of these mountains and islands are their steep cliffs, large caves and dwarf trees growing out of the rock cre...
