A man says he was having a "bad day." What do you do when you are having a bad day in New York ? Why take off all your clothes and wander around Times Square naked I guess.That's what a 26 year old Yale graduate did on Thursday.Now, in my opinion this really has nothing to do with nude recreation. The poor man was obviously distraught and not trying to promote nudism. He was just a little crazy.This story was reported at gothamist.com which is a New York gossip site.The reason I think this story is important is the writer didn't know that it is legal for women to go topless in the state of New York. Since 1992, with a court decision, it has been legal for New York women to be topless anywhere men are allowed to be topless. A restaurant in Maine has been offering a sandwich called the Skinny Dip for years. And a patron gets it for free if they jump naked into a local lake. The owner of the restaurant has said only 1 person has complained over the years and now this person is complaining trying to get the restaurant's liquor license not renewed.It is a pretty sad state of affairs if 1 person can influence a city council so negatively that they would refuse to renew a liquor license.There isn't even any frontal nudity as they use a towel before jumping into the lake.That 1 person must obviously have no life and no sense of humor. Local governments just don't realize the economic power of nudists. For instance, here in Palm Springs, we have the 2nd highest occupancy rate of ALL hotels in Palm Springs. We are a 17 room inn and our town has about 6300 hotel rooms. Yet, for instance in the summertime, we bring in almost 1% of the cities room tax, we are that popular.Unfortunately, that does not translate into being promoted by our city. I am a past president of the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce. Whenever the press comes to town to write stories, we are never recommended unless the writer specifically asks about nudist resorts. Last week, there was a very nice article about Sunny Rest Lodge, a nudist resort located in the Poconos, PA. We know the owner and her daughter. They are very hard working and nice people. Their campground is very nice, but seasonal as it gets cold in PA this time of the year.I didn't realize the article was on the front page of their local newspaper. That is pretty good. There is a nice nudist park north of Phoenix, Arizona called Shangri La Ranch. Horst Kraus with his wife are the owners. Just like me, Horst has been involved with politics. He is on the state of Arizona's Republican party's GOP finance committee.Now what is weird is Democrats are trying to make a big deal out of this. It is interesting to see the reporter's view compared to our take on the topless sunbathing scene in Las Vegas. Of course it was a guy writing about his experiences. (Probably the first time he has ever seen bare breasts in ). As he writes "pool visitors regularly steal not-so-furtive glances of anything they can glimpse [meaning naked breasts]." And I bet he was one of those guys staring.The first thing you need to know is the whole purpose of those adult pools in Las Vegas is not to allow women to avoid tan lines on their naked chest. No it is is to try to get some women to take off their tops and to be the "entertainment" for guys which will spend a lot of money on drinks and entrance fees. Margaritas for instance are $12.50.
