GREAT FISH RIVERIt comprises the Andries Vosloo Kudu Reserve, the Double Drift Nature Reserve and the Sam Knott Nature Reserve. These reserves are linked by a circular route and total combined size of about 45 000 hectares. The area in which the reserves are located was in the past, an area of conflict and war, with the Great Fish River often forming the boundary between the Settler and Xhosa territories. As a result, the area has a rich historical background and a number of forts, signaling towers, fortified farmsteads, barracks and graves that are located within the reserve. EXPERIENCE MKHAMBATHI NATURE RESERVEThe Mkhambathi Nature Reserve is a 7720-ha coastal reserve with open grasslands, dotted with indigenous forest patches and swamp forests, flanked by the magnificent forested ravines of the Msikaba and Mtentu rivers. Grasslands cover a large portion of the reserve and support a fascinating and diverse flora. Large numbers of grazing herbivores such as Eland and Red Hartebeest have been introduced into the grasslands. COMMANDO DRIFT Game Reserve ;This scenic nature reserve is situated 58km from Cradock and 40km from Tarkastad on the Cradock/Tarkastad gravel road. The reserve covers an area of 5983-ha, of which the lake takes up approximately 950-ha when full.
