Santa Clara County Bus vs. Jet Blue? Just Fly; Its Cheaper
2008-03-01 05:00:00
Santa Clara County Bus vs. Jet Blue ? Just Fly; Its CheaperFinally something to cheer about regarding the Valley Transportation Authority. After being battered for months for cutting bus lines and rejiggering service, Santa Clara County can now boast having the best buses money can buy. OK, I don’t know about the best part. All I know is the cost of running the county’s three Zero Emission Bus (known as a ZEB) is absolutely nuts, as Gary Richards points out in today’s Merc.It costs $51.66 a mile to move one of the buses down the road. Good thing mass transit agencies never expect to recover all costs from passenger fares. Otherwise, it would cost you $309 to take the bus from San Jose City Hall to Eastridge mall.OK. OK. Maybe the bus would have 10 or 20 people on it, reducing your cost to $15 or $30.Another way to look at it? When JetBlue starts its discount service between Mineta San Jose International Airport and Long Beach in May, the airline will offer a round-trip fare of $...

Jet Blue | Flying Virgin America, Not My Cup of Tea
2008-02-05 11:40:00
Flying Virgin America , Not My Cup of TeaI recently had to take a business trip from Washington DC to San Francisco. Upon shopping for flights I found that Jet Blue (to Oakland) and Virgin America (to SFO) were the same price. I decided that I would give Virgin America a try since I had heard so much hype about them. Here's my short-form review of the flights:Pros:1. Being able to order food when you want, through a touch-screen, is a nice feature. The food was even decent, albeit a bit expensive for airline food.2. Rows 3, 9 & 10 have an enormous amount of leg room. It will cost you $25 extra to sit there though (see Cons).3. Planes are new and super clean. The A320 is a nice aircraft and pleasant to fly on.Cons:1. The entertainment system, while neat, still needs a lot of work. Movies skipped, 50% of the TV channels showed the can't get the signal message and many of the features of the system (including internet access) aren't yet implemented. Also, the AC outlets in our ro...

Continental Becomes the Latest to Roll Out in-Flight Wi-FiAs the latest airline to begin offering free in-flight Wi-Fi, Continental has announced their plans to allow passengers to have limited wireless access. The service will be similar to the Jet Blue service and allow passengers to use e-mail or instant messaging. Sadly web browsing and even downloading attachments will not be allowed.A bit of good news does come with the Continental announcement, after you get board checking your email you will be able to amuse yourself by watching TV. The LiveTV service will offer 36 channels through DirecTV, first class passengers will be able to view for free while the economy-class passengers will have to pay $6.In-flight Wi-Fi seems to be nearing a necessity as we have seen recent announcements coming from other airlines such as Southwest and Jet Blue. Lets just hope these limited services take note and begin to offer a full experience similar to Virgin and American Airlines. ***----------...

Jet Blue | New Business Plans for Charter
2008-02-05 03:31:00
New Business Plans for CharterThree of jet charter's traditional limitations -- a fragmented industry, lack of consistency and reliance on managed aircraft -- are being addressed in bold new business plans that have emerged in the United States over the past 18 months. Two new ventures, Pegasus Elite Aviation and XOJet, plan to own all or portions of their fleets to facilitate guaranteed availability and consistency. Furthermore, they're planning to offer on-demand one-way flights without traditional cost penalties. To pull this off, they'll be operationally structured like their fractional competitors and airlines.Meanwhile, the Sentient Flight Group, whose super charter brokerage and Atlantic Aviation charter operation were recently merged into Jet Direct, itself a consolidation of several widely spaced operators, is transforming itself into a gigantic operator. Notably through the recent acquisition of TAG Aviation USA and others it has become the first truly national jet char...

Your Caravan Layout and Fixtures

Your Caravan Layout and Fixtures The interior caravan layout and fixtures is important. There are a number of things to consider. One is the size of the bed.
