Vacation Season
2008-03-05 15:32:00
Spring is here and now is the time to start planning that summer holiday. Many Californians will join the thousands of visitors from around the world and take in all the attractions we have in the golden state. Some of the more adventurous will decide to visit destinations all over the globe. One place I have always wanted to visit is South Africa, from what I have read the coastal areas are very similar to Southern California. Taking such a long journey requires a lot of research. Some of the information you will need is flights to South Africa, hotels and car rentals. Wherever you decide to go on holiday this year plan ahead to get the best rates.

San Diego Trolley
2008-03-03 05:30:00
Visitors to San Diego soon find out that you can get around without a car. Public transportation is excellent in this Southern California City. San Diego has a trolley car system much like Los Angeles and Orange County had between 1930 - 1960. The Metropolitan Transport System red trains can take you to most of San Diego's attractions and the train even runs down to the border with Mexico. In total there are over 51 miles of track served by three different lines, blue, orange and greens lines. There are 53 stations throughout the San Diego area all of which are connected with bus lines. Next time you visit San Diego park the car and travel aboard the MTS. An even better idea is to visit San Diego onboard Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner train, then see the sights by riding on the San Diego Trolley. It's a shame that Orange County, with all it's attractions has no such rail system to take locals and tourists to destinations. With the price of gas getting sky high we need to have other...

Trees of Mystery Klamath California
2008-03-01 04:51:00
Your fist sight of the Trees of Mystry is a giant statue of Paul Bunyan which makes you think this is a tourist trap. But you will soon find out that this is a very special place. A hiking trail takes you past Paul, up into a giant, hollow, redwood log, and then back to the actual mystery trees. The highlight of your visit is a ride on the Skytrail, which takes you on a nine minute ride above the treetops in a ski lift. On your way back stop at the huge gift shop which also includes a Native American museum. Trees of Mystery 15500 Highway 101 North Klamath, CA. 95548 1-800-638-3389 View Larger Map

San Francisco Getaway
2008-02-29 05:29:00
San Francisco is one on California's star attractions. The city by the bay has some of the most recognizable landmarks in the world. The Golden Gate Bridgeis is the gateway to the golden state. Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz Island, Lombard Street and Ghirardelli Square are visited by travelers from all over the world. On a recent visit to San Francisco we were overwhelmed by the variety of San Francisco Hotels. There were so many choices and locations it was just about impossible to pick a hotel. At first we planned on staying next to Fisherman's Wharf, but after finding out the parking was 25 dollars a night we decided to look at other locations. If the choice would have been mine we would have looked at Cheap Hotels In San Francisco, however my wife had other ideas. After looking through numerous booking web sites we found San Francisco Hotels.com which has listings, reviews and information about Hotels In San Francisco and attractions. With the help of this useful web site we fo...

California Gas Prices at Near Record High
2008-02-28 15:31:00
California gas prices are just pennies below the record set last summer. California's prices are already 56 cents higher than at this time a year ago, and forecasters say the nationwide average may hit $3.50 to $3.75 a gallon by Memorial Day. The surge in gas prices is going to make travel very expensive this summer. One way you can fight the hig cost is by taking local trips instead of that long drive to a different state. Here are some examples on how much it will cost to drive at $3.25 per gallon in a vehicle that get 15 miles per gallon.20 miles - $4.3430 miles - $6.5050 miles - $10.82100 mile - $21.67250 miles - $54.17 (round trip to San Diego form LA area)300 miles - $65.00 (Palms Springs and back form Orange County)525 miles - $113.60 (Las Vegas round trip form Los Angeles)As you can see taking a long trip is getting very expensive, add in lodging, food, tickets and any extras and a driving vacation is going to make a big dent in your bank account. All is not lost you...

By following a few steps you can turn the corner on your debt.Prioritize your debts: Begin by listing the amount you owe into priority and non-priority debts. Knott's Berry Theme Park
2008-02-27 00:04:00
Many of you know Knott's by it's original name Knott's Berry Farm. In 1997 the Knott's family sold the farm and it's operations to Cedar Fair. Over the last ten years Cedar Fair has changed what was a unique family run amusement park into roller coaster world. In the beginning the farm was a roadside stand along Highway 39. The Knott's sold berries, berry plants and pies. To help support the farm, Knott's wife Cordelia sold chicken dinners to passing motorists. Within a few years the chicken dinners became so popular there were lines waiting to eat her now famous chicken. Walter Knott added attractions to help entertain people while they waited for the chicken dinners. Over the years the attractions and rides drew more visitors than the chicken. Not everything has been replaced at Knott's, you can still get a chicken dinner and the ghost town section is still there. Let's hope that Cedar Fair leaves some of the old Knott's in place, for future generations to enjoy.

Drive up to the 10,000 foot level of the white mountains of in east central California and you will find the earth's oldest living inhabitant "Methuselah", at 4,767 year old Bristlecone Pine. On dry windswept mountaintops of the Great Basin in the western United States grow earth's oldest living inhabitants, the Bristlecones. When you get to the forest do not expect to see hundreds of trees. The trees are there but spread out over the mountain growing out of the rocky surface of the White Mountains. The view can be fantastic and the picture opportunity almost out of this world so if your car is up to it the drive is worth it. Before you attempt to drive up to the ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest make sure your vehicle is in good working order. This is not your typical Sunday drive, the forest is defiantly off the beaten path. Tijuana say 'hasta la vista' to Tourists
2008-02-18 06:24:00
Tijuana's recent wave of violence appears to have driven another nail into the coffin of a tourism industry already hobbled by its reputation for tacky tourist traps and rowdy bars and by long waits at the U.S.-Mexico border crossing.Visits are down 90% since 2005, when an estimated 4.5 million came to the area, according to the downtown merchants association. On an average day now, only about 150 tourists show up, the association says. Some encounter the latest Tijuana spectacle: convoys full of heavily armed soldiers rumbling down Avenida Revolucion.Lucky for us there is plenty to do right here in California. With so much to see and do right in our own back yard, Californians are saying 'hasta la vista' Tijuana.

Kelso Depot Visitor Center
2007-12-20 06:54:00
The restored Kelso Depot is now the visitor center for the Mojave National Preserve. This once busy train station housed the Kelso Clubhouse & Restaurant which served passenger trains and the nearby Kaiser’s Vulcan mine. The Kelso Depot's function as a train stop ended in 1962, although the restaurant and boarding rooms were still in use. Finally in 1985 the building was closed completely. The Depot passed into the hands of the National Park Service and renovation began in 2002. The building reopened to the public as the new visitor center for Mojave National Preserve in October, 2005.
