I'm scared to drive in Thailand
2007-09-07 12:16:00 So, I'm not embarrassed to admit that I am scared to drive here. I've been here long enough now to be used to the "left-side-of-the-road" thing, but I still wouldn't want to be behind the wheel. Lanes do exist. However, most people choose not to follow the seemingly simple traffic law that you stay in your own lane. Whenever I meet someone for the first time--and have to tell them my name--inevitably, I find myself asking, "Do you know Brad Pitt?" Now, I shouldn't take credit for this clever trick that I've learned. The first couple days I was here, I would repeat my name two or three times and get an awkward look from most people. Then, something would seem to click, and they would ask, "Brad Pitt, yes?" Now, it just seems to make sense to start the introduction process by asking if they know Brad Pitt.Of course they know Brad Pitt! Who doesn't? With a face and set of abs like this man, he is certainly known throughout the world.Anyways, it has proven to be an easy way to get people to remember my name while pronouncing it correctly. An additional plus is that it usually elicits a ... More About: Pictures
