Buddha is watching over Chaweng
2008-02-03 10:59:00 Since a few months, there's a stupa being build overlooking Chaweng.It's located at the same road as the Art Palace and Q Bar, overlooking Chaweng. Once you drive up on the hill, towards the Q Bar, there's a round about that goes all along the new building, but you gotta walk up some stairs and a little path way, along lovely green and scenery, to get to the actual building. Once you reach the roundabout, there's a parking lot at your right hand and it's than about 100 meters to walk to the stairs, leading up to the building. This is the actual building. As you can see, it's still under construction, which will hopefully have me go there on a regular base and update on progress.There are plenty of richly decorated ornaments laying around inside the building, waiting to be installed. We really enjoyed the views from the roundabout. 2008-02-03 02:49:00 Today's weather;It's fairly cloudy over the ocean and less cloudy over land right now with lots of sunshine and a current temp at 7 am of 27.7C. There's a fairly hard wind though and this morning around 6.30 am we had a short shower.Yesterday was a nice, warm and sunny day but with a lot of wind which lead to a choppy beach. Since we were completing the Open Water dives of the Assistant Instructor course of the IDC at Chaweng beach, it was a bit of a challenge but we managed! Goodbye to January
2008-01-31 01:07:00 It's that time of the month again,January was nice this year, lots of sunshine and not too much rain. As a resident of Samui, I sometimes don't mind a bit of rain at all, it keeps everything green and is good for the water balance on the island. As a tourist, visiting Samui, it may be different, you probably prefer straight blue skies 24/24!In general, January was good though. We, my family, had a lovely holiday with our trip to Isaan. It was very nice to meet my wife's friends and experience their hospitality and see a different part of Thailand. It was also an unexpected pleasure to be able to drive home in a new car!Let's look forward to February and that this may bring us lots of good weather.Camille More About: Goodbye

I'm not sure if there was rain last night but it is very moist this morning.Yesterday saw for the first time since three weeks rain again around noon and in the early afternoon, which actually wasn't bad at all, it got rid of all the dust on the road! Sunset Restaurant in Nathon
2007-12-05 14:39:00 The Sunset restaurant in Nathon was our stop today.We visited the children's doctor in Nathon today, since our oldest had a minor problem. The doc is always open between 5 and 7 pm so on the way out of Nathon, we decided to visit the Sunset restaurant, since a few people have recommended it over the years.The restaurant is located at the end of Nathon when you take the road back to the pier, it's exactly before the curve to your right, which leads onto the ocean 'boulevard'. The menu is extensive and starts with a varied Thai menu followed by a massive Western menu which seems to be dominated by Italian food, pizza's and pastas.I ordered a Chicken Kiev and it was nice.One thing we liked about the place is the extensive garden and seating arrangements. You can sit inside, outside with a roof and completely 'uncovered' outside. It's very spacious so excellent for children to run and play around.
