Jayakarta Hotels & Resorts, Kuta-Legian, Bali
2008-05-15 05:52:00 We were staying seven days and six nights at Jayakarta hotels & Resorts , Kuta Legian Bali and quite satisfied with the facilities and services. We had no problem when we're check in, just a little bit mis-interpretation to locate the lobby for Club Bali since it's located separate from the main lobby. Perhaps they have to put a bigger billboard sign to attract the guests attention. We stayed at the apartment on the first floor, quite dusky IMO and need more lights. And after we check all facilities inside the apartment, it's time for me to check the internet connection. Well, my IM2 couldn't connect to the HSDPA signal, not even the GPRS signal when I tried at the guest room. Then I try at the bedroom. Gotcha, only one bar...! Ah, unlucky me. I asked to the receptionist about the WiFi but they said they had a problem at that time, I couldn't use it. No internet connection for a week...? Aarrgghhh...!!! It's too tired for me to go to the internet cafe.Pools and access to the ... More About: Hotels

Baron Beach, Yogyakarta: a tower of southern Java
2008-04-01 16:46:00 There are several beaches in Yogyakarta, the famous one is Parangtritis Beach but my favorite one is Baron Beach. It's a tower of southern Java .Baron Beach located in Desa Kemadang, Kecamatan Tanjungsari, about 20km southern Wonosari. At the first time arrived, I just stayed on a beach. I enjoyed the view, the scenery of the beach and the ocean. Then, I see that some people walking and trekking up to the hill on my left hand side. It's interesting, I found out that there is a gazebo just above that hill facing the ocean (Indonesia Ocean). A perfect spot to muse or daydreaming (grin mode: on). To be honest, IMO this is the best beach in Java Island. This beach is one of the beach series: Baron, Kukup, Sepajang, Drini, Krakal and Sundak.Don't forget to taste the special menu from this area: Sop Kakap. Each year on Bulan Syuro, there is a Sea Offering Ceremony on this beach. Ondel-Ondel, traditional puppets from Jakarta
2008-04-01 08:02:00 If you're in Jakarta , try to find the traditional event of Betawi. Betawi is the descendants of the people living around Jakarta from around 17th century. They have their own culture and also language, different from Javanese language or Sunda language.Almost every event that held by Betawi's people, they had a giant puppet (usually one as man puppet and one as women puppet) called "Ondel-Ondel". In marriage ceremonies or at the party of Jakarta's anniversary or en event like Jakarta Fair and similar other fairs, you will find Ondel-Ondel. This giant puppets will dance along the traditional music like Tanjidor. Size of the puppets...? Well, they're about 2.5m tall.Children love them. Sisingaan, the traditional dance from Subang-West Java
More articles from this author:2008-03-31 19:21:00 One of the tourism attraction from West Java that I really love is Sisingaan. Sisingaan or "fake lion" is the unique traditional performance from Subang, West Java (about 75km from Bandung, the capital city of West Java to the north). This performance used to be a story, a symbolization of the Indonesian people power when Dutch invasion in 1940's. It's a dance with traditional music, eight people lifting two fake lions (dolls) with young boys on top of them. The fake lions are the symbol of invaders and eight people who lifting the lions are the symbol of people of Indonesia. The lions are the Royal Coat of Arms of England, young boys riding fake lions are the symbol of England which came to Indonesia using their Dutch relationship. And there was a military agreement in Kalijati, Subang. An agreement between Dutch and Japan in 1942 that led Indonesia to be Japan's governance.
