Quick Evening Meal at Ojai Pizza Restaurant in Ojai, California
2008-06-05 20:05:00 SeeTheGlobe.com Travel Article :: We arrived to Ojai late on a Thursday afternoon. After checking in to our place of stay we decided to walk around town a bit. By this time it was getting dark. Not many people were to be seen at this time of day on the main East Ojai Avenue strip or even the Ojai Arcade. We only noted several groups of teenagers hanging around. Most business were closed by nine o'clock. We wanted a quick bite to eat and our options were quickly dwindling. Our walk took us by Ojai Pizza Restaurant . It was open and we peeked in and asked one of the servers if they were open. The response was affirmative making our decision process that much easier.Rate and Review : Quick Evening Meal at the Ojai Pizza in Ojai, California

A Family Tradition: Five Generations of Mezcaleros, Producers of Quality Me
2008-05-29 21:46:00 SeeTheGlobe.com Travel Article :: Don Isaac recounts awaking at 4 am, then walking from his village of Matatlán, with his mule, to Oaxaca, arriving some 14 or 15 hours later ... just to buy a large cántaro, the traditional clay vessel then used for making and transporting mezcal. Often he would stop en route, at Santa María el Tule, for a drink of refreshing tejate before carrying on. Quenching his thirst, putting his feet up for a short while, and chatting with his favorite tejatero, made the arduous journey accepted custom, just part of the job. Eighty-eight-year-old Isaac Jiménez Arrazola has been producing mezcal in Matatlán all his life, just like his father and grandfather before him, his sons Enrique and Octavio, and now his grandchildren. The town has a colorful history and pride in being one of the oldest colonial settlements in the country, founded in 1525, only a few years after Cortés arrived in Mexico. Breakfast at Bonnie Lu's Country Cafe in Ojai, California
2008-05-29 01:27:00 SeeTheGlobe.com Travel Article :: Bonnie Lu's Country Cafe was very conveniently located to our place of stay in Ojai and we decided to give it a try one morning. We liked the classic All American diner look of this eatery and the fact that it was almost always packed when we walked by. The popularity must also stem from the fact that it is located in the Ojai Arcade, the most popular mingling area of town. If you are arriving by car you will most likely find parking behind the eatery or on one of the side streets. Ojai Avenue gets quite busy during the day making parking there a problem. We were fortunate to be able to walk to Bonnie Lu's. No hassle just an easy stroll. The hostess welcomed us nicely. Several tables were being cleaned up and she offered us a choice. We selected a booth on the left side of the main dining room.Rate and Review : Breakfast at Bonnie Lu's Country Cafe in Ojai, California

2008-05-28 00:07:00 SeeTheGlobe.com Travel Article :: Our friends recommended Chaba Thai last Sunday as a meeting spot, to have some good food and catch up on the latest news. We did not make reservations in advance. This is usually not a good idea, but as it turned out on this occasion, it did not matter. I passed by Chaba Thai many times in the past while driving up and down Pacific Coast Highway. They have a prominent sign outside and have (if I am not mistaken) recently renovated the establishment. It was appealing from the outside. It was time to check it out from the inside. Their parking lot is large and can accommodate quite a few cars. This time, we did not prepare at all. We just drove down Third Street and kept our eyes open for a breakfast eatery. Driving East on Third (past La Cienega) right after Crescent Heights Blvd., we spotted a small place unknown to us. We parked at one of the meters parking spots and walked to it. Saturday Evening Dinner at Suzanne's Cuisine in Ojai, California
2008-05-23 23:42:00 SeeTheGlobe.com Travel Article :: There are four to five restaurants in Ojai that always come up as a "not to be missed" culinary destination. Suzanne's Cuisine is definitely one of them. Locals recommended it, visitors recommended it, online reviews were favorable so we had to give it a try. We made reservations over the phone four days in advance for dinner at six thirty in the evening. I was not sure how to respond to their question whether we wanted an inside table or a table on the patio. They noted that the patio is the more popular choice so I went for it. The lady on the other side of the line told me that one of their favorite tables is available and that's where they would seat us. Excellent.
