And Bali island in Indonesia is renowned for its natural beauty and as a fabulous tourist attraction. However, the island is also known for its terrorist attacks in recent years. Fly The Unfriendly Skies Of United
2008-02-11 13:37:00
United Airlines (UAL) recently announced that it will be charging customers twenty-five dollars for their second checked bag. They will start this beginning on 5 may 2008. Right now you can check two bags, each weighing fifty pounds for free. Anything more and you have to pay extra depending on the weight. You are also allowed one, maybe two, carry-on bags. This also depends on the size, weight, and airline. This additional tariff will not affect Mileage Plus or Star Alliance customers. And, from what I have read, this only affects domestic flights. I have not read anything about overseas flights. Supposedly, this will discourage passengers from bringing an additional bag, making the plane lighter. Therefore, the plane will burn less fuel saving the airlines money and keeping fares from rising. As a frequent traveler, I can personally say that I will do my very best to avoid flying on United. If I do have to fly UAL, I will scream, kick and bite before I pay an extra twent...

Last Minute Airplane Fares Tips
2008-02-05 07:41:00
Depending on when you need to fly and where you need to go, finding a really great deal on last minute airplane fares can be quite a challenge. In fact, in many circumstances it can be very difficult to find the flight you need at any price. This is one of the reasons why travel experts recommend that you don't wait until the last minute to try to look for flight deals. In most cases, booking your air tickets as far in advance of your trip as possible is usually the best way to go for cheap airline tickets to your destination. When you secure your air tickets early, while there are still plenty of seats available, you will find that the airlines usually offer the cheapest airfares during this stage. Plan Your Trip Wisely Waiting to book a flight until the last minute often means that there are very few seats left. When this happens, the airlines may charge a premium price for those seats that are left, especially during busy travel times. For instance cheap flights fresno to ...

Paying For And Getting A Refund For Your Airline Ticket
2008-02-05 07:37:00
* If you plan to pay in person and with your own bank check, take at least two forms of identification with you like a driver's license, major credit card, or employee I.D. card. Particularly when you purchase tickets far from your home town, airlines, travel agencies and other ticket outlets will want to confirm your identity. If you paid for your ticket with cash and you have a refundable fare, you can often get an immediate refund from the issuing airline or travel agency. If you paid by personal check, the refund will generally have to be mailed to you. NOTE: In some cases tickets purchased overseas in foreign currency can only be refunded in that same currency and country, due to foreign government monetary restrictions. Keep this in mind if you are considering buying a ticket in a foreign country. * When you pay by credit card, your charge account is billed-whether you use your tickets or not. You won't receive credit unless the original unused tickets are returned to ...

Making Your Airline Reservation And Getting Your Ticket
2008-02-05 07:24:00
Once you decide when and where you want to go, and which airline you want to use, getting reservations and tickets is a fairly simple process. You can make all of your arrangements by telephone, at the airline's ticket office, or through a travel agent or other ticket outlet. There are a few potential pitfalls, however, and these pointers should help you avoid them. * If your travel plans fall into a busy period, call for reservations early. Flights for holidays may sell out weeks-sometimes months-ahead of time. Don't buy a standby fare or an 'open return' ticket if you need to fly during a high-demand period, especially the end of August. You could be stranded for a week or more before a seat becomes available. * Ask the reservations agent to give you the on-time performance code for any flights that you are considering. This is a one-digit code in the reservations computer that shows how often that flight arrived on time (within 15 minutes) during the most recent reported ...

Changes Seen In Travel By Air
2008-01-29 14:47:00
Traveling by air can be a lot of fun because people are able to carry items onboard their flight that will amuse them for hours. Of course, getting these items onboard is a bit shaky and time consuming but people who have been thoroughly briefed on what is allowed and what is not make it through the security checkpoints with no problems at all. Those that do not pass the tests of a security scan will find that they have many people to talk to during the course of their travels. Their belongings will also be under extreme scrutiny and it is quite possible that some personal items might be removed from luggage before the passenger is allowed to board. Passengers must now ensure that their key chains and necklace charms are not on the weapons list. People know that they can get a cocktail onboard the flight, but there are limits to how many can be drunk during a flight. Getting onboard a flight after sitting in an airport bar partaking of certain refreshments might prove to be a pr...

How To Cope With Flight Delays (Part 2)
2008-01-29 14:45:00
If the problem is with local weather or air traffic control, all flights will probably be late and there is not much you or the airline can do to speed up your departure. If there is a mechanical problem with the plane for your particular flight or if the crew is delayed on an incoming flight, you might be better off trying to arrange another flight, as long as you do not have to pay a penalty or higher fare for changing your reservations. (It is sometimes easier to make such arrangements from a pay phone or cell phone than at a ticket counter.) If you find a flight on another airline, ask the first airline to endorse your ticket to the new carrier, which could save you a fare increase. Remember, however, that there is no rule requiring an airline to do this. If you are using an electronic ticket, you will probably have to get paper documentation issued before it can be endorsed to another carrier. If your flight is canceled, most airlines will rebook you on their next flight to...

How To Cope With Flight Delays (Part 1)
2008-01-29 14:43:00
There are many things that can make it impossible for flights to arrive on time. Some of these problems, such as bad weather and resulting air traffic delays, are beyond the airlines’ control. Others, such as the need for mechanical repairs, cannot be predicted. Nevertheless, you can take steps to reduce your chances of encountering most problems and limit their effects. When booking your flight, remember that a departure early in the day is less likely to be delayed than a later flight, due in part to the “ripple” effects of delays throughout the day. Also, if an early flight does get delayed or canceled, you may have more rerouting options. If you book the last flight of the day and it is canceled, you could get stuck overnight. In general, you are least likely to be delayed on nonstop flights. A connection (change of planes) always involves the possibility of a misconnection. On a direct flight (intermediate stop, no change of planes), the second leg could b...

New 2008 Holiday Route For Spanish Airline
2008-01-28 11:11:00
Traditionally holding the number one spot for holidays, a Spanish island has surprised many by opening a new route to holiday competitor island Malta - which is riding the crest of a tourism wave after some years in the doldrums. Vueling, a Spanish low cost airline, will start flying to Malta from March 31 three times a week, to and from the Spanish capital Madrid. The airline was set up just four years ago and already has 24 aircraft in her fleet, and before the announcement of the new Malta service already served some 57 destinations, and passenger traffic grew an impressive 75 per cent year on year to November 2007, when it carried nearly half a million passeners in that month alone. Current destinations include internal Spanish flights to Alicante, serving the Costa Blanca region, and Malaga for the Costa del Sol - both ideal to escape from the city for a golfing or sailing break, or just to spend some time on the beach. With low prices a weekend break is affordable and ea...

What Is A Contract Of Carriage?
2008-01-28 10:55:00
A contract of carriage is the rules that an airlines imposes on its passengers. There are many that you may not know about. I am only referring to one airline, but most have very similar rules. And, trust me; they do not favor the passenger. Most of them start off giving a long list of definitions. You need to speak legalese to understand most of the terminology. I am sure that you know that an airline can refuse you service. Here are some of the reasons: 1. If you are barefoot 2. If you have a malodorous condition 3. If you are unable to sit in a seat with the seatbelt fastened The airline can also charge for excess amount of bags or excess weight. You need to check with the airlines, but most only allow 2 checked-in bags and one carry-on. Weight limits differ, so check before you go. Otherwise, it may cost you big bucks. You also need to check for items that are not normal luggage. These would be items like golf bags, fishing equipment, antlers, hockey equipment ...

2008-01-25 07:19:00
We have all been caught in the luggage claim area waiting for our black bag to come around the carousel and not able to distinguish them from all the nearly identical other bags. Today there are numerous options to help make your bag unique and easy to spot from the rest. Here are just a few of the latest on the market. 1. Bright and big luggage tags. These tags are made oversized and in neon colors unlike the luggage tags of yesterday. They are available in unique designs such as animals, flowers, and licensed characters and teams. Look for durable ones that will not rip off in transit. 2. Luggage straps. Luggage straps go around the entire suitcase and come in a wide variety of colors, sizes and prints. Different widths are on the market so pick the widest one you can find for maximum exposure. Make sure to put it back on the bag and not leave it where you are staying while traveling. 3. Luggage spotters. They are wrapped around just the handle of the bag and are secured w...

Flying to Paris from New York City
2008-01-24 08:29:00
How do you book the right flight to Paris from New York City? Which airlines have the least delays and which is the best way to go for the money? Flights to Paris all leave at night, which means any hang-ups the airport suffers throughout the day will affect your departure. Make sure you give yourself enough time for TSA security since the evening international flights tend to clog the checkpoints. Try to get through security between 10am and 2pm when the fewest flights depart. An option is to pay $100 per year and sign up for Clear Registered Travel. With this benefit, you can access a dedicated lane and you will not even have to remove your shoes. Clear has lanes at Terminals 1, 4 and 7 at JFK and Terminal B at Newark. Even the best direct flights from JFK and Newark land on schedule less than 50 percent of the time. The best airline is Delta from JFK to Charles de Gaulle which leaves at 5pm, early enough to avoid some of the cascading delays of the evening. On a positive note, ...

Some people travel for pleasure and derive great thrills from finding discounted airline tickets. Discounted travel by air is necessary due to the rising costs associated with the travel industry as a whole. Airlines are concerned about how every flight will leave the terminal with no empty seats. How To Make Air Travel Less Stressful
2008-01-23 08:04:00
As long as you plan ahead, your vacations will be more enjoyable and your air travel will be less stressful. Booking your tickets will be first on your list. As long as you learn how to take on this task a step at a time, getting good airfare deals will not be at all difficult. Be patient and shop around. After you have found a good airline deal, the next decision would be regarding your airline seat. You basically have three options. You could either sit in front, in the middle or at the back. If you happen to have a connecting flight after or will be in a hurry because of an upcoming appointment, it is advisable for you to take the seats in the front area of the plane. The bulkhead seats will be a good choice for you if you are traveling with kids. These seats allow for a larger legroom space as there are no seats in front of you. If you want to steer clear from children, you may want to choose the seats near the exit as children are not allowed on these seats. But you wou...

Rising Insecurity- Rising Demand for Private Jet Charter Services
2008-01-23 08:01:00
Thanks to the growing security chaos at the airports, companies now increasingly prefer to travel through private charter jets. According to a survey conducted by Air Charter Guide, there was an 80 percent increase in business-related bookings of private jet charters within two weeks of Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks when commercial airlines were hijacked to ram into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Similarly, private jet service companies reported a rise in demand from their customers, both old and new, following a terror alert in the UK. Following 9/11 and the subsequent increase in terror threats, stringent security checks at the airports have made the whole experience of traveling even more frustrating and exhausting. One has to endure long queues, all kinds of checks and intimate body searches to board an aircraft. Confiscation of even petty things such as nail clippers and tweezers has become a common sight at the airports. Hence, when we explore the reason...

Stress Free Business Travel
2008-01-23 07:59:00
Business travel can be stressful for everyone involved from the person who books the flights to the person who is actually doing the travelling. There are plenty of ways of booking these flights from using the internet, going to a travel agent or use a company that specialises in corporate travel management. The latter is becoming more popular with businesses because it means that they don't have to worry about the stresses of organising business travel. This is down to many reasons but the main one is probably because it saves so much time. A corporate travel management company has the ability to do everything for you from booking the flights to sorting out travel insurance. Many company owners and managers prefer to use this option because it means that their staff aren't spending all day trying to organise this rather than doing what they're actually paid to do. So although you would have to pay for this service, if you think about it you'd be wasting the money anyway bec...

Best Airfare Tips
2008-01-22 10:11:00
How can I get a better rate on my Airline tickets? - Make your reservations as soon as you have decided on travel plans. Airlines give discounts for early bookings at least 21 days in advance. The best rates are often those that include a Saturday night stay and have travel dates during the week. - Shopping the Internet can be the quickest and easiest way to compare many different Airlines’ rates to find the best deals. - If you can be flexible about when you travel, do so. It can bring big savings. Even changing a flight’s time during the same day can effect the rate. Often the less popular early morning or late evening flights have lower rates. - The best rates tend to be found during the off season and at other times when the Airlines are flying at less than capacity. - Check into splitting your trip into two roundtrip sections. A stopover at a midpoint could save you over flying a direct route. Although, make sure the saving are large enough to warrant the ...

What If You Get Bumped From Your Flight?
2008-01-22 10:09:00
What does getting bumped mean? - "Getting bumped" is the common term most people use when they are denied boarding on a flight because there is no room for them on the plane even though they have a reservation. The Airlines often "overbook" and sell more than 100% of a particular flight’s seats because they know that some of the people with reservations won’t show up for the flight. Sometimes everyone does show up and this means that there won’t be enough seats to go around and someone must be left behind. Those left behind have been "bumped" from the flight and will have to take a later flight. What is the difference between voluntary and involuntary bumping? - You may think this is too obvious, but with voluntary bumping you choose to give up your seat on your flight for some form of compensation (usually travel vouchers or cash) and with involuntary bumping you are forced to give up your seat. However, there is another very im...

By: Ray La FoyCommercial airlines are great for getting from one point to another going by another's schedule. But, when time is of the essence or added comfort and privacy is a must, charter flights can be the way to go.The advantages of private flights over regular commercial crafts are many. Not the least of which, of course, is the privacy they offer. For businesses and individuals, charter flights come with these perks:* No set time schedule. Char ter flights can often be booked any time of the day or night. This means travel on the red eye isn't a must to ensure arriving at a meeting or vacation destination on time. Flights can be booked to meet a customer's schedule rather than the customer having to meet the airline's set agenda.* Can offer a cost savings over commercial flights. How to Save Money on Airline Tickets

If you compare prices between the sites, and some sites even compare between other sites for you, you can find the best possible price. Many of the websites have a lowest price guarantee, so be sure to check the fine print in case you qualify for it.Another way to save money is to request an e-ticket, instead of having traditional paper tickets delivered to you before the flight. They also have the safety feature of not being able to lose the tickets before the flight, especially if you book far in advance. You can buy two "back-to back" cheaper round trip tickets instead of unrestricted tickets, which is more expensive. By using half of each set of round trip tickets, you save money. The major draw back to this is you can't use them toward frequent flyer miles. If you travel during the middle of the week, instead over the weekends, you can usually purchase cheaper airline tickets.
