Following the event, THE GAMER sat down to interview Peter Moore. Moore made it clear that he’s taking an unbiased approach to EA Sports and the titles they release – despite him previously boasting that Madden NFL 08 would be running at 60 FPS on the Xbox 360, while only 30 FPS on the PlayStation 3 just months prior. Moore stated, “my new favorite console,” in reference to the PS3, while holding a SixAxis controller. “And now here’s my other favorite console,” in reference to Wii, while holding a Wii remot...

Analyst Predict Another PS3 Price Drop By Year End
2007-09-06 03:34:00
Recently Sony dropped the price and discontinued the 60GB model of the PlayStation 3 as they launched the 80GB version but some analysts believe that Sony will drop the price once again. It wasn't long ago when Sony announced the $100 reduction and discontinuation of the 60GB version of the PlayStation 3 as Sony launched the 80GB version for $599 along with the game MotorStorm. Soon it could be that the 80GB version will be the only version available, but now many analysts including those from Wedbush Morgan Securities are reportedly predicting that Sony will again reduce the price of the PlayStation 3 by another $100. If these predictions are accurate, this means that those 80GB units could be priced at $499 by the time the Holiday season rolls around. Now I know that some of your are asking yourselves why you should buy a PS3 now if this is the case? Good question. First, this is not yet a confirmed fact though it is confirmed that the 60GB PS3 is indeed going away and not coming ...

Sega Boss: Most creative games to be on the Wii and better than Xbox 360 or
2007-09-05 04:29:00
The head of Sega North America, Simon Jeffrey has said that some of the most creative and unique games will be on the Wii. Here we go, tossing "creative" and "unique" around again with something that involves the Wii. But, it has more to do with development costs than anything else.Jeffrey claims that the low development costs for the Wii mean that there will be more third party games made for that system and will be more original than titles on the Xbox 360 or PS3 for the next two years. I guess he hasn't heard of Mass Effect. Just because there's a possibility of those games getting made, doesn't mean they will and it doesn't mean they will be good but he seems to think they will be on both counts. After Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games took the award for best Wii game at Leipzig, Jeffrey spoke with MCV,"There is no doubt that we will see more risks, and therefore more creativity on both the Wii and the DS in the next couple of years. Just look at what EA is already doi...

Warhawk Review
2007-09-05 04:09:00
Fly some deadly skies, scorch some earth, and love every second of it.How do you know when you've got something special on your hands? It could be what happens when you take the power of a new console to make a spiritual successor to an earlier title, using the hardware to accomplish things that weren't possible years before. Maybe it becomes apparent when you can completely change the primary focus of a title and discover that the redesign is much stronger than the original concept. Or perhaps it's the new concept that generates and sustains momentum for your product by itself. In the case of Warhawk , all of the above definitely apply. When Warhawk was announced two years ago, the game featured a significant focus upon a single player storyline that cast a large spotlight on the Sixaxis controller and what it could potentially do for games. Along the way, the team at Incognito discovered that their multiplayer mode was more substantial and appealed to players more than their plot...

Full Kiki Kai World Details: PS2 This Year, Wii 2008
2007-09-02 04:54:00
After pages detailing the US releases for Wii games titled Kiki Kai World and The Monkey King: The Legend Begins appeared on Amazon today, we contacted publisher UFO Entertainment to see if we couldn't find out the whole story. As it turns out, Kiki Kai World is not the Kiki KaiKai (Pocky and Rocky) sequel that was announced and cancelled. However, it is by the same developer, is "very similar" to the cancelled game, and is more of a "spiritual successor," says UFO."To make a long story short, Taito, who is now owned by Square [Enix], had some issues with us and we had to let the title go," said a company spokesperson. The new game will be released in the US on both the PlayStation 2 and Wii. The PS2 version is currently scheduled for a December release, with the Wii version arriving early next year. The game will also be released on both platforms in Japan.UFO also confirmed that The Monkey King is indeed the US title of Starfish's upcoming Wii game Shin Chuuka Taisen.

PSP Loses Weight
2007-09-02 04:48:00
Like Nintendo's DS last year, Sony's Play-Station Portable is getting a much-needed nip-and-tuck. The new PSP is only three quarters of an inch thick, down from nine tenths. And thanks in part to a slimmer battery, the device is shedding about 2.5 ounces, down to 6.7. Other upgrades include:Play on your TV: By connecting a cable from the new video-out port to a TV, users can watch flicks or play games on a big screen ($20 component cable required).Speed: With twice the memory of the original (now 64MB), games load faster.Power upgrades: Instead of lugging an AC adapter, gamers can charge the PSP from their computer using a standard USB cable. They can also squeeze in the battery from an old PSP for backup on long trips.Design tweaks: The speakers have been moved up to prevent hand muffling. The Wi-Fi switch is at the top of the unit to reduce accidental turnoffs. And the UMD tray that holds game and movie discs is easier to open and load.New colors: Users now have their pick of hu...

Stranglehold For PS3, PC Pushed Back One More Time
2007-09-02 04:32:00
Yes, the Xbox 360 version has "gone gold" and should meet its previously scheduled release date, but it appears the Curse of John Woo has once again forced Midway to push back Stranglehold for the PLAYSTATION 3 and the PC one (hopefully) final time. According to the latest schedule from the Stranglehold publisher, the Xbox 360 version is hitting on September 5th, with the PC version shipping a couple of weeks later, and the PS3 picking up the rear on the 25th. Good thing nothing else of importance is shipping that day. Wait, I'm double checking my calendar. Oh. Oh my. That's not good.No big deal. We PS3 gamers are certainly used to waiting for the Xbox 360's hand-me-downs. I suppose the promise of the Blu-ray version of Hard Boiled will make the wait much easier.

Even though it's releasing next year, Midnight Club : L.A. is already impressive.Vroom! The Rockstar reps blasted through the neon-drenched streets of the Sunset Strip, screaming through hairpin turns at top speed. As the Lamborghini Gallardo Roadster screeched around one particularly tight corner, the camera perspective automatically swung out to a wide cinematic angle, adding to the sensation of speed. Then, when the driver activated his nitrous boost, the camera shifted again to hug the driver's side of the Roadster as it plowed down a narrow street. Again, the effect was highly cinematic, making the game look more like a high-speed chase movie than a video game.Raw speed and cinematic flair-that's pretty much Midnight Club : Los Angeles in a nutshell. Though the game features many improvements to its predecessors, our first glimpse of the game only reinforced the claim that the Midnight Club series is one of the fastest, most adrenaline-soaked racers on the market. Review: Blue Dragon
2007-08-31 03:10:00
Blue Drago n delivers something that Xbox 360 owners have been clamoring for since the console's release: an exclusive next-gen RPG title that offers up an epic experience that's on par with any game with the word 'final' in the title. There's a reason why this game has given the 360 such a lift in Japan: it is, without a doubt, a world class gaming experience. The Beast Without: The characters in Blue Dragon , which were designed by Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball Z fame, adhere to classic archetypes, from a smarty-pants sidekick and soulful Mother figure to the mysterious mercenary and perpetually shouting munchkin weirdo, but they're rendered with such charming individuality that even the most jaded gamer won't resist their appeal. The main narrative isn't filled with many twists and turns but even the expository cut-scenes are entertaining, even if they do suffer from occasionally awkward translations. The game world is also vibrant and expansive, with nearly every rock and bu...
