Gears of War 2 MP details
2008-05-28 12:06:00 XBOX360Fanboy has a list of features for the Multiplayer element of upcoming Gears of War 2 shooter due in November 08. Initially taken from X360 magazine they include: Ten person, 5v5 online multiplayer. Yes, Gears of War 2 will have a Halo-style matchmaking system. There will be respawning multiplayer modes, but the focus is still towards traditional non-respawn gaming. Multiplayer game modes: - “Guardian” game mode: A remade version of Gears‘ Assassination game mode where the objective is still to kill the other team’s leader, but players keep respawning as long as their leader is alive. Opponents’ leader will be marked on the HUD to keep the game moving along. - “Wingman” game mode: You and a buddy team up, sharing a single character model in this five teams of two game mode. - “Meatflag” game mode: A CTF-style mode where the “flag” is actually an AI-controlled player who’ll wander the map and attempt to k... No spring update but fixed XBLA coming
2008-05-26 14:03:00 Acording to an interview with Marc Whitten on Next-Gen, XBOX 360 will not have a spring update this year: there would be no spring dashboard update for Xbox 360 owners this year, saying that resources were instead focused on “building the proper infrastructure and scale for the service.” There will however be a change to DRM policy and a tool released next month that will allow 360 owners to re-license content to a single console—finally fixing the issue that forced gamers playing XBLA games to be connected to Xbox LIVE if their 360 broke down and was replaced Yay and DOH!! Why SNIP should join Twitter
2008-05-25 11:34:00 Some may have heard of Twitter , but knowing you lot most have not. I also know that some of you are a sceptical bunch about joining new web based services such as Twitter. I think though that it can work for us, so I’m going to pledge for you bunch of rep-rebates to sign up (and humour me). Twitter is another of those pesky Web 2.0 things that the famous and the young all seem to be into, it can however serve a purpose where there is a “network” of friends/contacts involved. Twitter works almost like a web based Instant Messenger service. When you have signed up, you build a list of friends (like us Snippeters). You can then leave messages, thoughts, ideas etc for all of us to read. This can also be done via text message. So for example you wonder if anyone is up for a game sess tonight, or whether anyone is getting GRID or just to let everyone know that a camp site is booked (;-) ) - one quick text message to the Twitter number and we ALL get updated straight away... No Demo for Left for Dead
2008-05-19 11:24:00 I bet some of you peeps have not even heard of Left For Dead , right? Well it’s an upcoming FPS from Valve (HL and Portal fame) that attempts to redefine the CO-OP genre. OXM Magazine have an interview with Doug Lombard about the title and its co-op nature and confirms there will be no Demo for the game. If you cannot be arsed to read it, then just think about 4 player co-op, lots of zombies and that lush Source engine all running together smoothly

Spring Update details leaked
2008-05-16 11:05:00 Kotaku have a leaked list of POTENTIAL features for the Spring update for the XBOX 360. Remember though that it’s a leak and there not even confirmation about there even being a Spring update this year. Anyway follow the break for the full list, I’ve bolded some of the cool ones … Xbox LIVE 1. Option to delay sign-in to Xbox LIVE upon booting console (to allow user to set Online Status). 2. Option to promote Child Account from Family Settings. 3. Disallow Child Accounts (over 18) to override Family Settings by launching Privacy Settings through a title. 4. FreeSat to include HD TV
2008-05-12 20:47:00 You may have heard of FreeSat - the Free Digital TV setup that brings Freeview via a satelite dish (installation costs apply). Well you geeks out there will be interested to know that FreeSat is soon to be carrying a HD feed for the BBC and ITV HD channels soon. Obviously you still need to shell out for some hardware that recieves the HD signal, but some products like the Humax range double as a Digital Video Recorder as well.
