Sam Houser: Xbox 360 storage medium not big enough

Now that Grand Theft Auto 4 (Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3) has gone gold, Rockstar Games president Sam Houser was able to sit down and talk about the hurdles his company had to overcome. This time, he pointed out the Xbox 360 ’s storage capacity which isn’t a big leap from previous systems. “They don’t have a significantly larger storage medium than the previous systems,” Houser told 1UP when talking about the 360. “It’s a slightly bigger DVD disc,” he added. Meanwhile, having Xbox 360 consoles in the market with no hard drives also came up. Houser explained: I think that the 360 is going to have to get ’round this issue we’re talking about. Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. (SCEI) decided to go with something simple, yet addictively fun when they thought up the concept of Echochrome for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. During the latest post on the PlayStation Blog made by the game’s Associate Producer, Kumi Yuasa, she announced that the free demo of Echochrome will become available tomorrow for both the PSP and PS3 platforms. The demos will introduce players to the game through a brief tutorial as well as give them a basic idea on how to go about solving the different puzzles. Both versions will feature 56 exclusive levels, with the possibility of additional downloadable levels to follow in the future. To help entice people with the game’s innovative gameplay, a new video was featured on the site, showing off the five different laws of perspective the game flaunts. GTA IV Xbox 360 Storage Problem

  In a lengthy interview with 1UP to talk about GTA IV, Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser has commented on an issue that has already been highlighted by other developers: The Xbox 360 doesn’t have a built-in hard drive as the previous Xbox and for retail games it uses DVD-9, which is starting to look outdated compared to the Blu-ray Disc solution used by the PlayStation 3. Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, has released a ranking of the Xbox Live activity for the week of 4/14. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare remains as the top of the ranking and with the recent news that the Variety Map Pack set a new record for the number of paid downloads on Xbox Live Marketplace, surpassing one million downloads in the first nine days since its release, you can bet Call of Duty 4 will be the most played game on Xbox Live for a long time, or at least until the release of Grand Theft Auto IV or Gears of War 2…which lead us to the third place. As expected, Halo 3 is the second most played game, but surprisingly, Gears of War jumped again to the third place, pushing down Rainbow Six Vegas 2.   A title update is now available for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2, fixing many of the issues reported by the community, including many gameplay tweaks based on gamers’ feedback. Sound Loops Optimized sound bank to improve weapon firing and helicopter sound clips that loop over and over. Sony comfirms European GTA IV PS3 Bundle!

We’ve heard rumblings here and there of a Grand Theft Auto 4 PS3 bundle, and we’re finally relieved to tell you that it’s official: there’s a Grand Theft Auto 4 PS3 bundle, and it’s coming to Europe. According to the info we picked up from a Sony press release, the bundle will be coming out on April 29. The bundle will come with a 40GB PlayStation 3 model, one SIXAXIS controller, and a copy of GTA 4. It’ll retail for 439 Euros (US$ 700). While this bundle has only been confirmed for Europe, we have high hopes that it’ll also end up on other shores, perhaps in a different bundle format for America or Australia. In any event, European gamers who’ve been looking for an excuse to get a PlayStation 3 can now find it in this solid bundle.   Those who are beset by untimely game freezes in the PlayStation 3 version of Ubisoft’s Assassin ’s Creed can now breathe easy: a community manager in the Assassin’s Creed forums confirmed that they will release a patch that will fix the freezing problem that is currently plaguing some gamers while going through Altair’s adventures. According to UbiRazz, the UK Community Manager in the Assassin’s Creed forums, they are now currently working on a game update that will “improve the stability of the game.” The update will be released online, but it is still uncertain if they will release a new batch of game discs incorporating the fix. Microsoft Banning Modded Xbox 360 again!

  Xbox 360 users who have modded firmwares may want to steer clear of Xbox Live for a little while. It seems Microsoft is once again exercising its banhammer muscles with a good old-fashioned ban wave. According to Xbox-Scene, several users of their forums and IRC channels have been banned from Xbox Live. Those who were banned were using Toshiba-Samsung and Hitachi-LG drives with either Xtreme and iXtreme firmwares. As of the time their report was made, BenQ drives seem to have escaped the banhammer, though that may only be a matter of time. In any case, how do you know if you’re banned? It’s simple, really. According to Xbox-Scene, If you have the ‘Z Code’ 8015-190D it means you are banned. This doesn’t ban your account, but only disables your specific console from accessing Xbox Live. The official Sony PlayStation blog reported today that Lair , originally scheduled to be released on August 14, has been delayed until September 4. According to Ryan Hamlyn’s post, an issue arose during QA testing regarding the game’s various online features, including leaderboards and its medal systems. Hopefully, this delay ultimately means good things for Lair, since such an eagerly anticipated game should, ideally, be as polished as possible before release. But anyone interested in engaging in dragon warfare has to wait another month for Factor 5 to complete its upcoming title. Share This

Hey all i just finished playing The Sims 2 for the psp, the game was pretty good. The Story line is pretty simple and will be the same story for all of your Sims models, the only things that will change is what you have in your house and your Sim and how much money and Food, Skills, Wants, Perks and Inventory Items you have along with Goals which is set of things your Sim wants to do to get rewards and to advance in game faster. The game will keep you really busy, because you will need to feed, shower, entertained, rest, and etc… your Sim character. The game is pretty fun for most parts epically when you buy very good Perks, that keep your Sim less hungry, more clean, and can stand bad smells “Grave yard, Bad food”.
