The 'Real' Intro to GTA IV

Several fake videos of the intro to Grand Theft Auto IV have been "leaked" to the internet, but this one is supposedly the real deal. Certainly looks authentic enough to me. You take a look and see what you think, but only if you're willing to risk having the first few minutes of your GTA IV gaming experience spoiled. Also, depending on your workplace, parts of it might be considered mildly NSFW, so use appropriate caution. I love the music.Update: The video has since been yanked from GameTrailers, which would imply that it was, indeed legit. The file is supposedly downloadable from both MediaFire and RapidShare, though I wasn't willing to risk any viruses or Rick Astley to find out. Proceed at your own risk.

Blizzard asks: Have Arena wait times improved?

Back in February, Bornakk promised Arena queue improvements in Patch 2.4. Now that 2.4 has been here for a few weeks, Drysc is asking for feedback on the wait times. According to Drysc, Blizzard has been making changes continually since releasing 2.4 in order reduce the wait times. He asks that you leave feedback in his post on the forums if you have played in the Arena within the last week.Reading through, the feedback is all positive. Well, mostly. Poe jokes that the queue times are too quick now and would like a couple minutes to do a round of mining in Nagrand. Otherwise, everyone agrees that the queue times are now just a few seconds as opposed to several minutes. The only real negative comments are about how they would like Blizzard to crack down on Win Trading.I am happy that Blizzard is soliciting feedback to find out what is really happening in the game. The most frustrating thing about the Metal Gear Online beta hasn't been the broken beta keys, the huge patch and client download or even the delay. It's trying to get a Konami ID from a website that simply refuses to work.Thankfully, that's in the past. Konami has retooled the ID registration website to be much more streamline and, as a result, much faster for all involved.So if you haven't managed to get your hands on a Konami ID, now's your chance. Make sure you get one before Friday the 25th so that you can jump straight in once the beta begins. So long as it doesn't get delayed again, that is.

COD4 Map Pack pulled forward for Europe

Here's some good news for Europe . The Variety Map Pack for Call of Duty 4 has been pulled forward to give it a simultaneous release worldwide. COD4 fans will be able to get their hands on it this Thursday, April 24th.As a result, the double XP weekend has also been brought forward and will commence at 12:01am GMT on Friday and finishing at 11:59pm PDT on Sunday. Because of the time difference, this means an extra 8 hours of double experience."Play with Infinity Ward" day is now Friday April 25th and members of the team will be playing between the hours of 11am and 2pm PDT as well as between 5pm and 8pm PDT. Sounds like fun to us, we'll almost certainly be playing. Our only question is, if Konami finally gets their act together and begins the MGO beta on Friday, how do we choose between them? It's going to be a busy weekend.

Metal Gear Online Beta Delayed

After a weekend full of server load issues and unhappy gamers, the Metal Gear Online beta has been delayed. Originally scheduled to be available this morning, the beta test of Konami's upcoming online version of its stealth action series has been bumped back to a tentative April 25 start date, with a warning that Konami may fail to fix the issues and be forced to move it back even further. On April 17, would-be players who had acquired access to the beta from Konami found that they were unable to complete one or more steps in the process. Some players couldn't register a "Konami ID" with the company, required to play the game. Some were given faulty promotional codes that wouldn't let them download the software. And most found that a required patch simply couldn't be downloaded, apparently because of extreme server load issues. In what has to be the weirdest crossover I have ever seen, Midway has announced Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe , the eighth entry in the fighting series, which will see characters from either franchise duke it out against each other. In development at Midway Amusement Games, the game is powered by Unreal Engine 3 and is slated to hit PS3 and Xbox 360 this Fall. Four characters have been confirmed so far: Superman and Batman from DC Comics, and Mortal Kombat veterans Sub-Zero and Scorpion. The game, if comments made by a Midway representative are true, will not feature the series' trademark ultra-violent Fatalities. This may be due to the inclusion of DC Comics characters. However, players will still be able to pull off some form of a finishing move. The storyline is said to be a collaboration between the Mortal Kombat team and DC Comics writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray. For those praying that Grand Theft Auto IV won't be met with another delay, Joystiq carries salvation with word that the game has gone gold and is "en route" to stores.This comes from Take-Two CEO, Ben Feder, who revealed at a shareholder's meeting that the game is in production and should arrive at retailers soon. GTA 4 is expected to see a massive launch, with publisher Take-Two hoping to rake in over $400 million during the first week alone. The game, as per analysts, is positioned to break previous sales records and may also have an impact on sales of movie tickets during its release period. It is due out on April 29 for PS3 and Xbox 360 .

Namco Bandai has announced today that Soulcalibur IV (priced $59.99) will be simultaneously available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in America & Canada on July 29th and in Europe & Australia on July 31st, 2008 . Namco Bandai has also revealed that the original Soul Calibur be remade as a downloadable game with HD graphics on Xbox Live Arcade later in 2008! Every character and mode from the Dreamcast game will be made available, and leaderboards will be added, although it wasn?t confirmed to 1UP whether or not online multiplayer would be added, although that?s pretty common with Xbox Live Arcade games. Namco Bandai sure has been keeping the Soul Calibur info coming strong lately, and the newest piece of media we've got is the latest trailer for the game.Amazingly, this is the first hint we've seen of anything other than blank stares on the characters faces, and it's good to know that Namco actually has some facial animators on its payroll. Much of the trailer consists of just emotional character shots with big ol' words splashed across the screen. But mercifully, towards the middle, some actual snippets of gameplay get spliced in, including some of Vader and Yoda. (Nerd moment: Look everyone, a Star Wars docking bay stage!)

The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine CoroCoro has hinted at a new Pokemon game coming out later in 2008 . It?s suggested to be a followup to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl that fans have dubbed Pokemon Opal or Onyx . Why? Because the third Diamond and Pearl legendary Pokemon Giratina was named after the opal gemstone Girasol. The magazine then continues by showing a timeline of the original games: The timeline lists Pokemon: Red and Blue, Gold and Silver, Ruby and Sapphire, Diamond and Pearl, which then continues with their respective follow ups Pokemon Blue, Crystal, Emerald.
