Get warm and cosy the easy way!
2008-01-03 14:32:00 This by far was the best Christmas gift that I got...ever!! I have a relatively small apartment, well not small really; but just not big enough for a fireplace of sorts. I've been on the look out for good, gas space heaters that not only serve the purpose but also don't make my room look like an industrial outlet. I had almost given up hope until I opened this lovely package and vola! The perfect gas space heater sitting right there in front of me!! When I looked a little closer and saw the label which read Desa, I immediately jumped online and took a look at their site - click hereI was stunned to say the least at what I saw!! They had indoor and outdoor heating appliances which blew my socks off! Everything imaginable from fire logs, gas stoves, mantels, wall heaters to patio heaters, construction heat and heating parts and accessories! How cool is that??? My one stop solution for all my heating needs. Now not only do their gas space heaters work great, but they look great!! It ... More About: Easy , Easy Way
Gaming finally catching Indian fancy
2008-01-01 08:02:00 The year 2007 surely belonged to the Indian gaming industry. Though investments made were larger than the returns, the number of people playing games certainly grew. For instance, Zapak Digital Entertainment has, within a year of its launch, garnered 150,000 unique visitors and 270,000 total visits a day on its site. Till date, it has 4 million registered user with a total of 100 million page views. Rohit Sharma, COO, said, "Currently one per cent of our free users are converted to paid customers for both downloadable games and cash games. This kind of percentage is a worldwide standard. However, with the launch of our Zapak Cards and the aggressive retail presence that we have across the country (over 5000 outlets), we expect the figure to rise to 30 per cent." Indiagames.com, which adopted a completely different marketing strategy, is also growing fast. The company launched its subscription-based gaming for online users. It already has 10,000 users on its subscription model. Visha... More About: Gaming , Finally , Fancy
A possible PS3 killer from Microsoft? xbox ultimate
2008-01-01 07:38:00 We've already had the Xbox 360 Premium and Elite. Both are, of course, fine gaming machines with the best games catalogue in the next-gen field. But come autumn 2008, we reckon both will be rendered obsolete by the Xbox Ultimate .This PS3-killer will benefit from almost three years of Xbox development, featuring 1080p HDMI output, built-in Wi-Fi, hi-def audio output, cooler 65nm hardware architecture and a near-silent fan. It'll also have the ability to make the most of the by-then established Xbox IPTV service, which will mean recording TV shows to its vast 320GB hard disk and watching live TV shows via your broadband provider. Now where exactly is the killer punch? It'll have a built-in HD DVD drive. Will it beat the ps3? To do that it'll have to have an argos-catalog of extra features, a much more desirable menu, and HD-DVD will have to beat Blu-Ray in the 'Great Format War', which for the moment i cant see happening. Console war verdict for 2007
2008-01-01 07:25:00 I'm going to go on record and say what we're all thinking, but way too afraid to admit:The Xbox 360 won 2007. The console might not have sold the most units or captured the attention of the mass media, but as a platform, it's provided the most complete experience of the year while executing titles with the most successful track record.Beat this game line upBioshock, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Crackdown, Guitar Hero II& III, The Orange Box, Halo 3, Forza 2, Skate, Rock Band, COD4. I know they're not exclusives, BUT they are all available on the 360 and play much better on the 360 than the PS3. OverallYes. The Xbox 360, wins our console of the year vote and there ain't no 2 ways about it! More About: Console , Verdict , Sole
Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 - looking back in 2007
2007-12-31 04:51:00 From the top of things, it looked like 2007 would be a great year of the consoles. What i loved about 2007 was the competition was so healthy, with great games, new features and lots of other goodies.Nintendo Wii2007 has definitely been the year of the Wii, with the underpowered but innovative little white Nintendo machine killing all comers on the way to the top of the sales chart. The main reason for its success is the accessability, thanks to its control system. This is the first console I remember which has seemed to spark an interest in every single member of the family, from young children, all the way up to grandchildren. It’s sold in huge quantities all around the world, and this Christmas has seen a huge shortage of consoles, despite Nintendo ramping up production. So sales haven’t been a problem, with the price, and universal appeal seeing it trounce the PS3 and Xbox 360.Games on the other hand, haven’t been its strong point. Super Mario Galaxy was released late in th... More About: Xbox 360 , Back , Looking Back

Gears of War on PS3 eventually
2007-12-20 14:49:00 Analyst heavyweight Michael Patcher as at his crystal ball again, this time dishing out the controversial prediction that Epic's Gears of War series will come to PlayStation 3... eventually.Speaking to Game Trailers, Patcher pointed out that Epic is no stranger when it comes to the PlayStation 3 hardware, "we pretty much know that Gears of War 3 is probably gonna' come out on PS3."The reasoning behind Mr. P's prediction is that Microsoft probably has a two game deal to keep the first inevitable Gears of War sequel Xbox 360 exclusive, but after that Epic's free to put it on whichever console it likes. It'd be a big stir up if Gears 2 ended up on PS3, but will anyone really care by the time the third one comes out?Just like GTA and Resident Evil before, we reckon Gears would've spent most of its worth by the time it goes multiplatform.Powered by ScribeFire.

2007-12-20 14:41:00 I totally envy the Japaneeeeeeesse!!!!!!!! Sony will sell a special edition of its PlayStation 3 console in Japan in January to mark the launch of the "Devil May Cry 4" computer game. The console will come bundled with the software and a related high-definition computer graphics movie on Blu-ray Disc, and cost ¥47,800 (US$422). It will be available from Jan. 31 and gamers will have two versions to choose from: one with a "ceramic white" console and the other with a "clear black" console. Sony didn't announce plans to sell the bundle outside of Japan.Sony has been struggling to increase sales of the PlayStation 3, which has ranked an almost constant second to Nintendo's Wii since the beginning of the year. In the week from Dec. 3 to Dec. 9 there were 38,123 PlayStation 3 consoles sold in Japan, according to estimates from Media Create. During the same period 115,057 Wii consoles were sold, said the company. Media Create gets point-of-sales system data from hundreds of retailers in ... Duke Nukem Forever: Looking back
2007-12-19 14:01:00 Taking a look back at the hype that Duke Nukem started in E3 10 years ago was almost not funny. Back then I was still in college and waiting for the next big Duke installment. It's been 10 long years now and well I'm a gaming blogger..who would have thought huh?Anyway, this isn't about me, but the fact, that we could see Duke Nukem Forever , which has almost been termed as an "abandonware", come to life. Here's are some screen shots of what I've seen from around the net:From what I've gathered here, the game definitely looks next-gen and looks good. But the truth is I'm not sure its even real. Apparently they're announcing the official teaser on 19th December. We'll be there waiting to grab it thats for sure. Now here's something to look at which might catch your fancy...the original Duke Nukem Trailer from E3 1998:Cheers More About: Looking Back
Windows XP SP3 and Gaming: hot or not?
2007-12-19 13:44:00 So here's the fact..Windows XP Service Pack 3 is faster...it speeds up windows xp by a good 10%. But how much of it good for gaming?Since SP3 was supposed to be mostly a bug-fix/patch consolidation release - unlike w/Vista SP1, Microsoft made no promises of improved performance for XP - the unexpected speed boost comes as a nice bonus. In fact, XP SP3 is shaping-up to be a "must have" update for the majority of users.Weather this will translate to "improved gaming performance" will remain to be seen. However from a gaming perspective, I personally prefer Windows Vista, even with Vista SP1, I didn't see too much of a difference in terms of performance. However, I did notice slower frame rates in Gears of War for the PC; nothing to hinder performance but yeah it was there. Did anyone else notice this? Would be mega cool, if someone could confirm this. Now what I also tested with Vista SP1 and XP SP3 is three core elements of everyday use:Multi tasking, I/O management and memory mana... MGM opens resort, raises stakes in Macau
2007-12-19 12:27:00 MGM Mirage Inc. opened a 600-room, Las Vegas-style resort in Macau yesterday with a celebration including fireworks and traditional dancers, raising the stakes in a Chinese gambling haven increasingly crowded by global players. The $1.25-billion (U.S.) MGM Grand Macau, a joint venture between MGM and Pansy Ho, daughter of Macau gambling mogul and one-time gaming monopoly holder Stanley Ho, is a relative latecomer to the once sleepy former Portuguese enclave, following Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Wynn Resort s Ltd."We are the last of the six concessionaires to be here, but we're here in a big way and we're going to be a part of Macau for many, many decades to come," Terry Lanni, chairman and chief executive officer of MGM Mirage, told hundreds of guests at a black-tie party in the resort's covered plaza, boasting faux castles on its four sides.MGM was in talks with Dubai World, holder of close to 5 per cent of the company, to extend their relationship in Macau and into China, though n... PS3 will become Preferred development platform, Says Tretton
2007-12-18 18:39:00 Looks like the PS3 is slowly starting to edge out the Xbox 360 according to Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, has said that developers are starting to adopt PS3's hardware as their base for developing multiformat titles, which are then watered down and ported to other consoles.Speaking to IGN, Tretton claimed, "We are now starting to see developers creating games on PS3 and then porting them to other platforms, such as EA's Burnout Paradise.”"Developers are telling us that they are starting to create their games on PS3 first and take advantage of the hardware capabilities and then port down to other platforms so we are seeing tremendous progress from the third party community in terms of what they are able to do with our development kits", he added."You will see some very nice things in 2008 coming from our third party partners in addition to what you will see this holiday."As it stands, Burnout Paradise is currently the first major title to utilize the P... Verdict: PlayStation 3 DivX Playback
2007-12-18 13:13:00 Yes, we finially tested the new PS3 upgrade and it worked great!Xvid videos and DivX ran without any hassles. There was some minor artifacting for the DivX video's we ran, but i would attribute that to quality of encoding rather than the player in itself. What I liked about this is unlike the xbox 360's DivX playback, the PS3 can automatically detect aspect ratio and re-size which in my opinion is very cool and a standard requirement if you ask me. (wow! im really voicing my opinion eh?)Playing DivX off written mediaThe next thing we tested was actually writing a DVD full of DivX movies to see if it worked and YES it worked!!WMV playbackThe initial bit where you need to activiate WMA (yes I wrote WMA) playback is a pain..but thats just a one time thingy..I hope so, I haven't restarted my PS3 after that. DissapointmentsCan't say too much, expect that the controls could have been better, but thats the stupid controlers fault, so the bottom line there are NO DISSAPOINTMENTS!!Xbox 3... Hudson launches iPhone/iPod touch gaming portal
2007-12-17 12:26:00 If you remember Hudson soft, the company that propelled Bomberman into fame has now launched an exclusinve portal for iphone and ipod touch games. Do the Hudson is what they are calling the portal and BTW is all in Japanese, features free games that can be played online. We can only assume that this means the company is waiting until it canoffer priced titles as downloads that can run natively on the devices, which won't be possible until after the iPhone/iPod touch SDK (softwaredevelopment kit) ships to third parties in February.Exciting stuff and we can't be the only ones giddy at the thought of touchscreen wi-fi Bomberman. Before anything that fancy rolls around, however, current highlightsinclude a web-based puzzler on the site that features Bombermanhimself, called Megutte Pon!, as well as Where's Wally-esque title Meijin wo Sagase! and a spot-the-difference-'em-up known as Dokka Kawatta?.Interestingly, the site also features classic music from Hudson's back catalogue andoffi... Sony boss claims PlayStation 3 is more fun than Wii
2007-12-15 06:02:00 Now things are starting to heat up or what???Apparently Sony chairman Howard Stringer, made a statement that the PS3 is infinately more fun than the nintendo wii. Now I have nothing against the wii, but as of now what I see is the wii being more fun. Eventually the PS3 will become more fun.Lets face facts, the PS3 is a much much more powerful console than the nintendo wii, and we're gonna see better development effort on the sixaxis and rumble pad 3 in years to come. Overall I see the PS3 winning the next-gen wars. and YES it will become more fun!Following the recent hardware price drop and subsequent sales spike enjoyed by Sony as the PlayStation 3 finally begins to attract a wider share of the game-buying public (especially in Japan where it has briefly outsold the Wii), Stringer has stepped from beneath Nintendo’s all-encompassing shadow to reinforce the PS3’s supposedly winning qualities.According to The Guardian newspaper Stringer commented on the current consume... PS3 DivX Functionality Coming "Very Soon"
2007-12-15 05:44:00 Looks like DivX on the PS3 might be here sooner than expected. According to the company, they expect the previously announced firmware update to hit the PS3 soon, which will enable full DivX support for the console. Though no specific time frame was given for this upgrade, their particular emphasis on saying it was coming soon leads us to believe it's "coming in a week or two" soon, as opposed to "4 months down the road" soon. As far as upgrade details go, the PS3 is DivX-certified, meaning not only is playback guaranteed to function properly, but game developers can also use the compression format for in-game cutscenes. In comparison, the Xbox 360 merely supports playback of DivX-encoded videos. NowPublicTags: news | ps3 | PS3NEWS | Technology More About: Divx , Ality

Microsoft unveils Xbox 360 HD DVD Emulator, hopes to speed up
development
2007-12-14 09:46:00 Microsoft has unveiled a new piece of software designed to "streamline development / testing for HD DVD content" as well as "accelerate the advancement" of next-generation interactivity (HDi, in particular). Simply put, the Xbox 360 HD DVD Emulator allows studios the flexibility to "model the behavior of HD DVD disc content, including encoded video and HDi interactivity, in a virtual environment." When put to use, companies can purportedly cut down on coasters and wasted time, but in order to do so, they'll need an Xbox 360 + HD DVD peripheral, a connection to Xbox Live and $2,999. NPD Report 63% of Americans Playing Video Games
2007-12-14 09:35:00 According to a new NPD Report video games are becoming and increasingly mainstream activity with a reported 63% of Americans playing video games, and 30% of them playing them more than last year. It’s rather amusing in many ways that “video games” essentially got hijacked by teenaged boys (both figuratively and literally) for the last decade (me being one of them). But with innovations in gameplay like the Wii, social games like Guitar Hero, and Rock Band video games are becoming again, just games, encouraging us to play, and play together. A few people have been making suggestions for what the trends for 2008 are going to be and I may be biased but I think there is going to be continued innovation around what games can actually be. This includes video games, mobile games, “big games”, and Alternate Reality games. David Armano has stated he thinks 2008 is going to be the year of mobile media and I agree, and I think that includes games and how we consume and interact with ... God Of War 3 Confirmed For 2009 - PlayStaion 3
More articles from this author:2007-12-10 08:26:00 Well, we were kinda hoping against hope that it would arrive in time for the 2008 holiday season, but that was probably pushing it. Provided this inside source is correct, God of War 3 is scheduled for release some time in 2009.The game's composer, Cris Velasco, confirmed the title would release in 2009. Furthermore, the massively anticipated action title will support full 1080p high-definition visuals and feature both rumble and motion-sensing from the Sixaxis and Dual Shock 3. None of that is really surprising, considering we should be seeing such features on a routine basis by 2009, but they're still good to know. Now, if only we could get Sony to issue a few early details about the game itself, we'd be in business. Above all else, we basically want God of War 2 only with better graphics, a new storyline, and perhaps a slightly tweaked gameplay system. But don't you dare mess it up; it was close to perfect the first two times! As soon as we hear anything new about God of War 3... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 |
