Studio Logo (part 2)
2006-11-11 16:15:02 The new studio logo has been eating up lots of time lately (my excuse for infrequent blog updates ^^; ). I was wondering whether anybody has any comments...We tried to focus on logos that were bold and strictly black and white so that different color/texture schemes can always be applied to them. Some people have mentioned the samples of the faces seem to be more engaging (its the eyes!), but I think most of them are pretty easily identifiable/memorable. More About: Studio , Part , Logo

PC Distribution vs. XBLA (Xbox Live Arcade) - part 4?
2006-09-07 20:43:11 I just came across this article, How to Design Online Crack at Lost Garden, and felt like it hit a chord with everything I was talking about in my previous entires regarding PC Distribution and XBLA. Here is an excerpt:Still in the early daysWe are still in the early days of online game design. Many game designers hold tightly onto the design habits of their packaged goods past. Indie titles insist on modeling themselves after packaged titles by using the same system of pre-packaged game play that is purchased, exhausted and then thrown away. Hybrid titles such as MMOs rely on an initial retail purchase and then morph into an online subscription model.True online games like Second Life, Gunbound and Kart Racer are still young. They?ve yet to discover a unified distribution channel such as console-based only market place and must survive solely on word of mouth and traditional advertisting channels. We are still waiting for the maestro game design that plays it?s customers like a fid... More About: Xbox , Arcade , Xbox Live , Xbox Live Arcade
Model: Kazzimort Krusher
2006-09-05 14:30:06 Below is the model of our Kazzimort ship concept. It took quite a bit of work, but was well worth it.The plan is to allow the player to customize the lining color (the red color) and the cockpit will glow red, orange, or green to indicate shot reload. Presenting a Control Scheme part 2
2006-08-14 19:18:02 Part 1 of this post.If we put the mouse cursor on the center of the screen after the game boots up, we could bet on the fact most users will use the mouse to navigate the game menu.We have two scenarios from here:1) The user decides to start a game straight off the bat:All 4 control schemes will be activated. The specific buttons to be pushed in the tutorial will depend on the last movement input from the userE.g if the player is using the arrow keys, Z and X will display on the screen. If the player is using the mouse, left and right click will display on the screen.2) The user decides to goto the options screen to check out his control options: The player is presented with all four control schemes and may choose to activate as many of them as desiredIf the user decides to assign keyboard keys, the two keyboard control schemes are de-activated. The specific buttons to be pushed in the tutorial will be generic. This will be button A or B. Refer to the image below to get an idea ... More About: Present , Part , Control , Presenting , Chem
