Ragnarok Valkyrie: Free to Play Server
2007-10-05 07:51:00 Level-Up! Games is due to release the Philippine Ragnarok Server : Valkyrie, on October 10 next week. It's free to play and rumored to be "bot-protected", and it's aimed at gamers who quit RO. The client is available for download NOW, so you can run it ASAP when it releases. However, this is is not without a catch. Slotted equips, several headgears, and MvP cards are no longer dropped. The RO Hypermart will be selling these instead. Several other items are also available in the Hypermart that are not available in commercial servers.Teleport, Fly Wings, and Butterfly Wings are gone from the server. Also, some maps are PK-enabled, making leveling a bit different. And what hurts the most? A -5% exp reduction when you die. Valkyrie gets a permanent x1.5 exp rate though. To know more about the Valkyrie server, Waukster Online has more info about it.For downloading, I'm liking to the official RO site.DOWNLOAD UPDATE ONLY FILE (5MB)DOWNLOAD FULL CLIENT (Torrent) More About: Online Games , Play , Free

YouTube Raid: Kasou Taishou
2007-10-04 13:44:00 I've been scavenging around YouTube for some cool videos when I stumbled upon a japanese television show. And any japanese television show on YouTube is guaranteed to be a sure laugh trip.Kasou Taishou, or Kinchan and Katori Shingo's All Japan Costume Grand Prix, is a japanese show hosted semi-annually. It's basically a team of individuals doing a short skit which range from the down-right-wacky, to the woah-that-was-cool stuff. The skit is then rated by a panel of judges. This may be old news to some of you, but it's pretty cool and worth a second look. One of the most popular skits done was the "Matrix Ping-Pong" which can be seen below.Check this guy for more cool videos. I highly recommend looking at this. More About: Youtube , Raid

Urban Dead
2007-09-28 16:13:00 Browser-based MMOs don't provide the greatest graphics, the most stunning effects, or the best game experience. But they're free, they're fun, and they're just a click away.I used to play a zombie-survival browser-based MMO. It's just mostly text, a UI, and the map. However, it turned out to be a pretty cool game. Urban Dead was the game I stumbled upon. Zombies and survivors pitted against each other in the quarantined city, Malton. The game is simple. You can do actions in the world with AP. 1AP is generated per 30 minutes, and you can have a maximum of 50 AP. You choose either to be a zombie or a survivor. Survivors then can pick a specialty from 3 professions, which basically affect your starting skills and equipment. When a survivor dies, he respawns as a zombie. Zombies can then be revived by survivors possessing a certain skill.Survivors are basically scavengers. They search dilapidated hospitals, malls, police stations, etc. for goods like firearms, health packs, weapons...

Meet the Ennui Team
2007-09-25 17:11:00 So I've revamped the site, made it look a lot better, and I've got new "people" on the site. So now, meet the cast of Ennui.Mads is our hardcore game. The head of the Ennui gang, he's either getting everyone lost or sitting in front of a PC or PS2. He'll be doing reviews on new and unknown games, and keep you guys updated about the gaming scene. When it comes to computers and technology, Zet is the man to go to. He's the coolest geek in the block. From cool software to optimizing your PC to new gadgets, he's got something to say about it. It's all in the red suit.Rants. Volgosh just loves to rant. Being the son of Odin and all, he's got a quick temper and a big mouth. If he doesn't like something, he'll be voicing it out, and making sure the world knows what's in his mind.Castigador is the head honcho of the site. I'll be sticking around, but most of the posts will come from the three other guys. News from the real world, and how the Ennui gang is faring, those stuff will... More About: Team , Meet

Nostale
2007-09-23 17:16:00 I've recently found a pretty nice MMORPG that should burn me some time. It was recommended to me by a friend, and it's pretty nice. Nostale is a cutesy MMO made by Gameforge. It's free to play, so I tried it.It just came out of beta, so it's a fresh MMO. The graphics are pretty good, but extremely cutesy. The camera is a bit clumsy since you can't pan it down completely, or I'm just used to being able to have complete control over my view. Controls are pretty much explained in the game, though the skill bar is a bit different. You've got the 3 basic RPG jobs, a swordsman, a hunter, and a magician. Each job has a specialty class which gives you more skills. Aside from that, you have control over a pet, or a "Nosmate". You catch or tame a monster, and it becomes your pet. You can have 10 of these critters, 1 active at a time. These pets level, and can be trained as well.Quests are the usual kill-this-kill-that, but NPCs guide you to where the next quest giver is. There are also ...
Real Time Internet Speed
2007-09-20 17:05:00 Netstat Live is a free utility from Analog X that monitors your TCP/IP connection. I've been using this since I got my PC. It basically gives your exact internet speed in real time. Other sites that measure your download and upload speeds are often prone to sudden bursts in signal which don't give you an accurate reading. Netstat Live also measures speeds in Bits per second and Bytes per second. You're able to view how much data you've send or received in a month. It also measures your CPU usage, so you know if something is causing your PC to slow down. Also, you are able to remote host ping and trace. To top it off, you've settings to have it start automatically, just run in the background and stuff. And it barely uses up any bandwidth.-Click here to download- More About: Internet , Time , Real , Speed , Real Time
Ragnarok Cursors
2007-09-19 17:06:00 Nothing like nostalgia invading your PC. I stumbled upon these cute cursors in some forum, and now I'm using a mixture of both of them. They're cursors from Ragnarok and Ragnarok 2, both of which are animated. Just thought I'd share them. Here's a peek at what they look like. They look a lot clearer once you see them, and they're also a bit smaller.Ragnarok Cursors Ragnarok 2 Cursors
Porings and Pukuis
2007-09-12 17:08:00 Monsters play a big part in any RPG for several reasons. We see them all the time, kill endless rounds of them, farm, hunt, and obliterate them for experience, gold, quests, items, and the like. Of course, some monsters always leave a certain mark on the game. It's either the cutesy monsters you see, or the big bad monster at the end, or even the non human NPCs.Diablo II had their Fallen, Half-Life had the headcrabs, Duke Nukem and Tomba had pigs. And of course, there is Final Fantasy and their Chocobos and Moogles. These monsters are iconic monsters, mention them and their respective game will surely come into the conversation. Now to business, the two monsters of Ragnarok, the old and the new.Ragnarok Online had the ever lovable Pori ng. One big, cute, pink, jellylike blog of love. And of course, the also oh-so-cute Poporing. They had the spunk, the spirit, and they easily recognizable from the bestiary of video game monsters. They were simply adorable, the way they bounce, they wa...
Audacity
2007-09-07 17:07:00 Audacity is a free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. I got it since it was a very nifty program, and I was planning to do some audio commentaries (which never happened).Anyway, I just discovered a nifty option it had. It has the ability to record sounds on your pc, which means anything that you would hear out of your speaker would be recorded as clear as the original sound. Simply change the setting of the sound source from Microphone to Stereo Mix.Now that has a VERY good use. Imeem has changed their site code to make it impossible to download its music and videos using certain programs and sites. Imeem has a very large music database, which makes it a prime site for listening to music. Now, put two and two together. More About: Audacity
Memories: Ragnarok Online
2007-09-06 13:34:00 Waukster Online , a blog that gives you an inside scoop in Ragnarok Online 2, is giving away rare Ragnarok merchandise like Goblin Figurines and Merchant Saving Boxes! To enter, you just have to write your top 3 Ragnarok moments and this is my entry.Ahh, yes. Ragnarok. My very first vice and first MMORPG. It introduced to me online gaming, took away 3 years of my life and filled it with lots of fun. However, all good things must come to an end. I quit Ragnarok sometime November 2006, due to the problems that plagued the Thor server. But of course, lets remember the good times. I chose the 3 best moments in my Ragnarok life, so lets once again walk down the streets of Prontera.Top 3 Ragnarok Moment: My very first FabreI can still vividly remember that day where I first entered the realm of Ragnarok Online. I made my novice, white pony-tailed hair, named W@l@ng Ib@. It was a week before Ragnarok became P2P, so I did start it out at open beta.Anyway, I went thru the training grounds, an... Ragnarok 2 Korean Beta
2007-09-05 17:02:00 So I've finally gotten the Kore an Beta of Ragnarok Online to work for me. I've played it for a few hours and here's what I think of it so far.It no longer has that RO look and feel to it. It plays like WoW and Lineage II now, though I'll be missing the old school feel. Quests, UI, and interfaces look different from Ragnarok already. The controls seem a lot different, I prefer WoW's camera and control better. One thing I don't like is the monster placement. A certain type of monster is situated in one part of the map, instead of the old RO's random monster spawning. Also, I somewhat dislike the world map. Though if it will turn out to look like WoW's map, it would be nice.I also feel that it's a lot slower compared to Ragnarok. Perhaps it's just that I came from WoW, and kept missing the elements of Ragnarok. Good additions though, are cutscenes. Certain events trigger cutscenes that add up to the storyline, which is one huge quest. Also, I like the idea of soulbound-levelin...
Ecstacy
2007-09-04 07:01:00 My brain is going to explode in the sheer delight and joy that I am completely overwhelmed with. I am finally going to get my hands on Ragnarok Online 2, and yes, it's the Korean Open Beta. I am about 10 hours away to finishing downloading the client, and I have found a way to make an account that won't take me a day to find.So yes, it's coming. I'm giggling like a little girl who got her first doll. I don't know how to describe the feeling, but it's the same feeling as watching a completely jaw-dropping opening game cinematic, only 10 times better. I'm probably going to convulse and quickly fall into shock once I log into RO2. Only to regain consciousness 3 seconds later and not sleep for 10 days. It's basically nerd-time for me, perhaps it's just the gamer in me rejoicing. Ragnarok Online was my very first dive into the world of MMOG. It totally set my standards for online gaming, I can't help but compare all the MMORPGs I try out to Ragnarok. RO simply had so much custo...
4 months to Ragnarok 2
More articles from this author:2007-09-02 14:11:00 I cannot wait. It's said to come out in December this year, so i'm hoping it'll be on time. I'm very exited about it, i've been reading articles and it looks great. WoWlike quests combined with the usual Ragnarok charm. Niruida is going to live again in the form of a Norman Thief, or a Dimago if it comes out along with the beta. I'm hoping to get some RAM upgrades before September ends, so i've got no problem with it running smoothly. Also, I've been trying to get into the Korean and Japanese beta, but Korea requires a KSSN (Korean Social Security Number) and a matching Korean name with it. So basically, any hopes of getting one (even tried the tedious task of syntax-googling it) is crushed. I'm trying to get into the Japanese beta, but it's pretty hard too.Anyway, the more I read about it, the more I miss Ragnarok. Bah, I'm stuck to playing BurningWoW and Diablo in the meantime.
