easy way to make strats for counter strike source and 1.6
2008-03-15 02:49:00
Here is a brief description of what CSStrat does. You can create animated strats for CS 1.6 and CS:S by placing player objects (CT or T), nades, bombs, etc on a map overview and give them a path to move. Setup timing for the movements and nades then you play it back like a movie. There are also options to export the strat as a video file using the video export option. The best part is the

CAL-Legal Source Tweaks (Casey's Config v2) The following is an updated version of Casey's Source tweaks. Problems with the previous config were automatically corrected by zBlock; however, as there currently is no zBlock available, an update to the config was necessary. The new version can be found below; it's entirely CAL-legal and we recommend you try it out, especially if you use any previous

The following article was not made in specificity towards any specific teams or players. They are the result of looking at the problem logically and factually and bear no ill-intent. Enjoy. In response to Singlecoil's article ("So you want to be a Pro?"), I can see no doubt that almost every fan will agree with the assessment. Counter Strike Source Binding guide
2008-02-25 19:05:00
<!--sizec--><!--/sizec--> Buying things at the beginning of a match can be a flurry of numbers hit, or a very slow process. Possibly even a deadly process if you are Terrorists on Dust 2. Binding greatly speeds this process up, as you only need to hit a single key to buy what you want. It doesn’t take very long to set up, and all you need to watch out for is that your fingers do not slip while

playing with Consistency in counter strike source and 1.6
2008-02-22 09:19:00
I’ve always been curious about the consistency of players, and how we can go from outstanding to just plain miserable within the space of a few rounds. I myself have been a helpless victim of this for as long as I can remember, and am trying to figure out what it is that makes me play on top form. Everybody is affected by consistency in some way, but the gamers who are most affected by

Guide to Practice Time for counter strike source and 1.6
2008-02-18 07:45:00
One problem with many non-professional teams is establishing a disciplinary way for team practicing. Teams often sit in ventrilo until there are 5 players and scrim. Other teams have a strict team practice schedule in which no one ever shows up to. Then there are some who gather everyone to practice prior to match nights, and hope they do well. There is no way to improve your team without

the mental side of competitive counter strike source and 1.6
2008-02-14 21:53:00
Most of the people I've come to know over the past five years of my life have all considered Counter -Strike to be completely based on skills, experience, and intelligence. There is a fourth element to the factor of a great player -- temperament. It seems fairly obvious to just state: "Don't play on a team with a Hot Head." but with this article, I hope to explain to everyone the importance of

cs:s weapon spray patterns with pictures
2008-02-04 21:00:00
What Is Weapon Spray Weapon spray is a term used for when you fire repeated rounds from a gun & spray fire in a direction. By holding down the fire button and aiming straight the recoil from the weapon produces a spray of fire which hits around the target or cross hair in this case. The more recoil on a weapon the more spray is produced and this is where I come in... Unknown to many, CSS has built in spray patterns for every weapon and it's key to know the patterns if you are to take advanage of this. Note the following patterns are produced from a static firing position and when moving will change.M4a1You can clearly see the M4a1 has 2 main patterns a 'T' shaped pattern & a 'P' pattern that somtimes is reversed AUG & SG550You can clearly see with the CT's AUG & the T's SG550 both have the same spray patterns. The main spray patterns is a 'T' shaped pattern & the odd 'P' pattern slipped in. AK47The AK47 seems to have the same basic spray pattern eve...

How not to be clutched ( a guide for counter strike source and 1.6 )
2008-02-03 05:41:00
Now, since clutching relied on breaking up the other team into smaller, killable chunks, anti clutching will obviously be focused on sticking together. An example of what not to do, from a scrim I played yesterday:On contra, we rushed b and took the site, but everyone died but gambino. 1v4, he killed a guy coming from plank, had 2 seconds to turn around and kill another guy coming from spawn, had enough time to plant the bomb, kill a guy darkroom, and then finally kill another guy coming from plank. See the problem? They came at him one at a time, because they wanted the kill and assumed they would win because it was 1v4. Until the round is over, never assume that it is yours. Instead of being the hero, wait for your team. If 2 guys had come out plank while 1 came from spawn and 1 came from darkroom, all at the same time, he would have been shot from 4 different directions, and it would have been impossible for him to win.Your goal should be to put your opponents in impossible situat...

How to clutch (a guide for counter strike source and 1.6)
2008-02-03 05:38:00
The ability to clutch is an important one. Winning a 1v2 or a 2v4 not only gives your team an additional round and extra money, but it can also be very demoralizing. Many teams will fall apart after losing a 1v3, while your own team will be inspired to play harder. For this writeup, I am going to focus on how to clutch. How to prevent being clutched is just as important, but would require more writing then I am willing to do at this point. If there is enough demand, I will write it up later.Know thy enemy. By this, I mean that by the third or fourth round, you should have a good idea of how the other team plays. You should know who plays where, what guns they use, and how aggressive they are. Then, when it comes down to a 1v3, you should know roughly how they rotate and where they will be on the map. A recent example of this happened on inferno - only the ct side, there was one player who loved to play behind the yellow generator. After switching sides, it came down to a 1v1, with hi...

teamwork guide for css and cs 1.6
2008-02-03 05:30:00
How well do you know your teammates? Do you know their first names? Would you feel comfortable lending one of them $20? How well do you get along with them?Teamwork is what separates the CAL-i from the CAL-m, the pug team from the new CAL-o superstars. Most teams in source have crappy teamwork, relying instead on their aim to carry them through a match. But aim can only carry you so far, and teamwork is something that will allow you to win matches against more talented foes.If you don't like someone, you can't play with them. If someone on your team has an amazing shot, but they don't get along with anyone, and they don't communicate, then they are hurting your team. It is better to cut them and focus on your teamwork. In this vein, don't play the blame game when the round is over. You should and you have to talk about what went wrong, but don't fight about it. If someone says something about how you played, do not get defensive. I know a lot of people have big egos in this gam...

Visualizing and shooting guide css and cs 1.6
2008-02-03 05:26:00
“Visualization is also referred to as guided imagery, or the process of creating a scene in the athlete's mind of what she wants to happen. An athlete will create images, like pictures or movies, that recreate her best performances, or she will envision a desired outcome. While imagining these scenarios, the athlete actually imagines every detail and the way it feels to perform just the way she wants. These images can be visual (images and pictures), kinesthetic (how the body may feel), or auditory (McMahon reported imagining the roar of the crowd). Using the mind, an athlete can call up these images over and over, enhancing her skill through repetition or rehearsal, similar to physical practice. With mental rehearsal, minds and bodies become trained to actually perform the skill imagined.”Visualizing is a technique used by many pro athletes. Altough I do not believe Counter Strike is a sport, you can still benefit from the process of visualization. There are two ways of visualiz...

What is a good effective practice schedule? For an individual player..
2008-02-02 20:33:00
What is a good effective practice schedule? For an individual player.. This is a very good question, though a lot of it will depend on how much time you have available, what your goal is and what said player needs to improve upon. The topic of individual improvement has a lot to do with aiming, but I really don't want to get into that right now, so I wont go over the specifics but instead I'll give you a general idea of how practice should work for an individual. • Set a time schedule, and stick to it.This is easily the most important part of developing yourself as a player. It's extremely easy to cheat your schedule and start late, or justify skipping it entirely with arguments like "I played longer than I was supposed to yesterday, so It'll be fine." It's all too easy for one day to turn into two, turn into three, and eventually you're off your schedule all together. Set a time to start and end practice, write down your goals for the practice (improve aim by doing X, imp...

guide to bunny hopping (with demo)
2008-02-01 06:39:00
about the hopbunny hopping is a "built in" "feature" in half-life causedby the physics that have been programmed to make thegame realistic. yes' i know hopping around like a crazy foolisn't realistic, but it has to be possible for everything else inthe game to be. some folks think that the bunny hop is a cheat, butanyone that has played half-life for a while knows that it isa "normal" physic of half life and that it is not a cheat. ipersonally believe that it is purposefully built into the gamelike the strafe jump in quake 2 so that advanced players cantake their skills to a new height who knows!so you wanna learn to bunnyhopok heres the deal it is harder then you think butanyone can learn with practice you will probably want tobind your mouse wheel (down) to jump ("bindmwheeldown +jump" in your console) so that you can getthe timing exact because when you jump with yourkeyboard it tends to throw off your strafing "thats bad".you also want to make sure you don't hit the forward k...

awp Gap Shots for de_dust2
2008-01-31 22:08:00
AwpThe AWP is a weapon that decides the match. You want to use everything about the AWP to your advantage, whenever possible. For example, it's pricetag. If you know you have no chance of winning the round, but a dead teammate's AWP is nearby, you can pick that up and run away, and give it to your teammate the next round. By doing this you have saved money in that A, you didn't die, giving up $1000 of armor, a $2500 or $3100 gun, plus grenades and possibly a purchased sidearm. And B, the AWP costs $4750. If you can give your teammate the AWP, he can buy you a rifle, and you just saved 2 or 3k. Another example is the fact that because of your double zoom, you can pick up on key details that your teammates may not. Ie, if you double scope and the enemy is pistol rushing somewhere (let's say long A on dust2), and your teammates are on A platform, pretty far away, they can just see the enemy with pistols. If you come up from CT spawn and double zoom, you can see if there are weapons...

The Physical side of Counter Strike
2008-01-31 21:50:00
this article examines the physical aspects of engaging in competitive Counter Strike . Although there is no immediate connection between grueling physical exertion and computer game play (excluding the kids that play DDR at Mach-4 in the mall of course), there is a connection between sound physical health and sound mental health, and both (yes both) are necessary to perform at your highest levels. In the state of Texas, students in elementary, middle, and high school are required to take standardized tests every few years (TAAS / TAKS test for all you Texans), and the first piece of advice the instructors give to the students prior to exam week is to eat a healthy breakfast in the morning before the exams. This promotion of physical health has direct correlation to better exam results. Researchers have found that eating a good meal in the morning stimulates the brain during the day. This logic is congruent for all activities -- if you’re physically prepared, there’s a higher proba...

Advanced Strategies Part Two: Being a coordinated team.
2008-01-25 19:17:00
Advanced Strategies Part Two: Being a coordinated team.Being an unpredictable player and team:So you have most likely scrimmed teams in which you can predict what they're doing exactly every round. This is due to inexperienced players. Irene Sutrik said “An unpredictable man, is a good man.” This relates to counter-strike in a strategic way. Think about it, a player pushs B and picks off 2 of your players. He does this 2 rounds in a row and does the EXACT same thing and still picks you off, the next round you are ready for it and you end up picking him off then push b and win the round. If you think about it, he should of never been able to get the players the second time, it should have been covered. The thing is you need to adapt to the other teams play which can be easily done by learning from mistakes. So put your self in the player that pushs b’s position. You push a round you get 2, next round you have confidence you can do it again, but in reality you probably will get s...

Advanced Strategies for CT de_dust2
2008-01-25 18:42:00
CT –Pistol Round:Most professional teams play it by spawn and have a basic setup. The strat I’ve always used is a defensive long, 1 agro short, 2 middle, 1 b defensive. The main goal for the CT is to get the players low by using grenades and slow down rushes with flashes. (The basic buy is Defuse Kit + Nade + Flash)Long Player – Picks and counts players as they enter ct side of long. Makes a quick call and players rotate by how many the player calls. The long player is determined by the spawn, closest long will take this position. (This player is required to boost the short player up to short for the quick agro pick)Short Player – 2nd closest to A and must be extremely fast with the boosting if they are to make the strat work. (this player must buy NADE + SMOKE + FLASH) Once up onto short stairs he will flash it then smoke lower dark then push up catwalk n spot the players rushing short/middle if seen nades and falls back to stairs waiting for a rush. (makes a fast call coun...

t side strat guide for counter strike source
2008-01-23 18:09:00
Good Strategy: Going into a match or scrim you need to have a good game plan. I would suggest having a solid pistol round strategy, 4-6 gun round strategies, 1-2 Save/Eco round strategies, and 1 anti-eco round strategy. By having all of these strategies well practiced, your team will be ready for every single round of the Terrorist side of the match. Also, try not to make your strats too specific and make sure you leave some room for the unexpected to happen. Adaptation is a big part to winning rounds on the terrorist side of Counter -Strike. Solid Leader: Your ingame leader plays a huge role in your success on the T side. It is important that when you get to match time, your team isn't calling strats by commity. Your team needs 1 player to be calling strats and directing the team. This will help your team to be on the same page. One big mistake I have seen is that teams will be indecisive and have 2 or 3 players trying to call a strat at the beginning of the round. This will lea...

ct side strat guide for counter strike source
2008-01-23 18:05:00
Their are a few aspects to a team that makes the team strong on the Counter -Terrorist side of a match or scrim. One of these keys is good, efficient communication. One important part of this is making efficient and specific calls over ventrilo. You want to try to call the number of enemies guns used by the enemies, and specific locations of the enemies with as little words as possible. One huge mistake I have seen is a team member calling "ALL B! ALL B!" when only 4 where in B. This can be a big mistake because one of your teammates may try to flank and not be looking out for a Terrorists who was waiting in a great spot for your teammate to flank. Also your team should decide on specific names to call certain places and hiding spots around the map. This will help the whole team to know exactly where the enemies are when one of your teammates makes a call. Another thing that can be helpful is to call out flashes, smokes and the HE nades thrown by the enemy. This is another way to let...
