2007-11-03 15:00:00
Nothing irritates me as much as not able to figure out how to view that free ebook I downloaded from the free ebook websites.Books are made in different file types. Here a list of the most common file types and the related programs that open the files:.pdf -> Acrobat Reader.rar -> Winrar.zip -> Winrar .7z -> Winrar (I suggest you to open all compressed archive (CAB, ARJ, LZH, TAR, GZ, ACE, UUE, BZ2, JAR, Z, 7Z) with Winrar. Winrar more powerful than Winzip!.lit -> Microsoft Ebook Format Reader.chm -> Windows can natively read this format, search for a chm viewer with other OS.djvu -> Irfan View or you need a plug-in for your browser: link1 or link2.pdb -> Palm handheld.iso -> It’s a CD image. The Book Engines On The Web
2007-11-03 13:40:00
Microsoft releasing a beta of Live Search Book s, its competitor to Google Book Search surprises me.Books isn't something you'd normally expect Microsoft to bother with, except perhaps by making it easier to read eBooks on their Tablet PCs. But books is a very strategically important area for Google to enter into, because Google's main remit is to organize the world's information. Both Live Search Books and Google Book Search Suck.In any case I tested out Live Search Books and to be frank, didn't find it of much value. I'm interested more in what current books are saying - e.g. the latest Michael Lewis book, or Freakonomics. What's more, I'm really interested in what people are saying about those books - the conversations, what else they're reading that may interest me, what inspires people about the books, etc. For those things, I'm more likely to go to AllConsuming.net rather than Live Search Books or Google Book Search. For example, a search for "the blind side" (Michae...

Which Movie To Watch Next ?
2007-10-26 08:27:00
If you don't know which DVD you're gonna rent I can recommend you to try a Personal Predictor. It's Internet sites which give you movie recommendations according to Your Taste. Rate some 20 movies and the more you rate the better the choices of the predictor. It started with Amazon. Once I found I could get recommendations based on my interests (loosely... see Amazon specific review below) I became quite the "movie rater", rating what I had seen just to see what else would come up. Then I found much more devoted websites, my favorite of which is Movie Lens because of the community. Now I've been with several rating sites for quite a while, and they've all had time to delve into my interests. For movies, I used to visit only IMDb (of course) and Rotten Tomatoes before. Now I’ll start to use this site as well. When you enter a movie, it recommends you a list of similar movie that you might like. You can search movies by tags, add tags to movies, etc.. You can apply tags to create c...

Top 8 iPhone Tips and Tricks
2007-10-06 18:41:00
All of us folks who are lucky enough to already have an iPhone know how much fun they can be just to play around with. Playing with my iPhone a lot myself, I have discovered some cool tips and tricks that you may find useful.1. If you tap once at the very top of the screen when you are on the internet, it will take you back to the top of the window rather than having to scroll all the way back up. A nice time saving feature.2. If you set the font to the smallest size, you can read more in the internet window. An advantage of this is that when you want to click a link, you can pinch (expand) that area and the link will come up very large, making it much easier to click.3. Rather than posting the full address of internet sites in bookmarks, you can post the equivalent RSS address instead into Apple's RSS reader and save that as your bookmark. This way you can quickly see if there's anything interesting on your favorite site rather than downloading the whole homepage.4. If you are wr...

Second Opinion Counts !
2007-09-13 13:29:00
The doctor said, "Joe, the good news is I can cure your headaches. The bad news is that it will require castration. You have a very rare condition, which causes your testicles to press on your spine and the pressure creates one hell of a headache. The only way to relieve the pressure is to remove the testicles."Joe was shocked and depressed. He wondered if he had anything to live for. He had no choice but to go under the knife. When he left the hospital, he was without a headache for the first time in 20 years, but he felt like he was missing an important part of himself. As he walked down the street, he realized that he felt like a different person. He could make a new beginning and live a new life.He saw a men's clothing store and thought, "That's what I need... a new suit." He entered the shop and told the salesman, "I'd like a new suit."The elderly tailor eyed him briefly and said, "Let's see... size 44 long."Joe laughed, "That's right, how did you know?""Been in the busines...
