Chinese iPhone
2007-12-15 06:22:00 Those nifty Chinese people can't seem to control their urge to reverse-engineer just about every gadget released. The long list includes Nintendo Wii (called Vii), Nokia N95 (called NokLa N95), PlayStation and more recently Meizu's M8, which blatantly rips off the iPhone. Now, another Chinese manufacturer looks to take it up a notch with yet another iPhone copycat, with an almost similar user interface, a touchscreen display, the same kind of accelerometer to switch from portrait to landscape mode with just a tilt. One dandy feature we could appreciate is the shake to answer a call feature.Source: Gizmodo More About: Iphone

TV on the go by Spice
2007-12-14 09:45:00 Spice is offering up to 13 TV channels to its subscribers including NDTV, Times Now, Zoom, Bindaas, and Cartoon Network. Spice customers can also watch the forthcoming ICL Cricket matches live on their mobile phones. It supports up to 50 mobile phones including the Nseries, S60v2 devices, and Sony Ericsson's K, Z, W series phones.By messaging "SPICE TV" to 50789 or calling *789#, users can get the Spice TV app on to their mobile phones, although I don't see a point in watching TV at GPRS speeds with all the buffering and other delays while actually watching it.Source: TechGadgets More About: Spice

Let your mobile buy your clothes
2007-12-14 05:29:00 Imagine a mobile phone that helps you buy clothes, without getting into a busy store? Nice huh? How about furniture too?Nokia is trying to make this a reality with a new phone they are developing, which uses image recognition to identify the picture of an item clicked a pic of in a store. The phone then loads the store's internet site and you can buy the item online. This item will then be delivered to you in 24 hours. Another handy feature could be its built-in translator which scans menus and helps you decipher all those foreign dishes for you.Source: Spluch More About: Mobile , Clothes

Street Lights powered by......Shit
2007-12-12 08:41:00 The town of Thiruneermalai in Tamil Nadu, India, puts it's stinking waste to good use to generate up to 3000 watts of power, enough to keep the street lights running at night. Waste from around 240 houses is collected in a sump and the methane gas produced by all of that powers a generator. And all this doesn't even generate odor to trouble the people living around the sump. The town is now mulling over using animal waste to generate more biogas.Click here to watch the video.Source: Gizmodo & National Geographic More About: Street , Shit , Lights

Tips if you have lost a cell phone
2007-12-12 08:11:00 Raise your hand if you’ve ever lost your mobile phone. C’mon, don’t be shy. That’s better! Don’t worry; it happens. Aside from the fact that you lost something that probably set you back a pretty penny, you’ve also probably lost your entire contact base with numbers, names, email addresses, the works. Everything that’s taken you months or years to accumulate is gone in one fell swoop. But given the scenarios these days I’m willing to bet that more than the phone, most of us would fret about losing all that data. So here a few tips on how you can prevent data loss.Backup and Data TransferYou have to understand that you can only back up your data on the PC provided your phone has PC connectivity. It could be via USB, Bluetooth, Infrared or Wi-Fi if the device allows for it. But backing up your data is the best thing to do as soon as you get a new mobile. If you’re moving from an older version all you need do is copy your contacts on to your SIM card so you wont have ... More About: Lost , Phone , Cell Phone , Tips , Cell
Try a phone before you buy it
2007-12-12 07:46:00 Sure, you could get down to a store, talk to the surly sales guy, and get a hands-on experience with a demo piece, but Tryphone is actually giving you an opportunity to try it here, on the world wide web. Explore the phone's features with their simulator before you decide to go ahead and buy it.They have only got a couple of phones online as of now, but that may change soon with the addition of more phones. Try the iPhone , Samsung Juke, LG Muziq, and the Blackberry Pearl until then.Source: BoyGeniusReport & Tryphone

Switch your screen from portrait to landscape, just like the iPhone
2007-11-01 06:30:00 rotateMe is a freeware application for Symbian OS 3rd edition devices, which allow you to switch your phone screen from portrait to landscape and vice versa. It was created by a French developer, By Samir. One of the best things about iPhone and iTouch is the way it auto-rotates to landscape or portrait mode, depending on the way you hold it. Thanks to By Samir, you can now have this on your N95 too!rotateMe v.20rotateMe apparently uses the motion sensor already available on the N95, which is primarily used by the camera to change orientation when taking pictures. Here is a video of rotateMe at work on N95 (French).Version 2.0 is also available for N73 and N80, although there is no automatic changing due to the lack of motion sensor on these two phones. But you can use a hotkey to switch between landscape and portrait modes.Note: You need to sign the .sis file before you install it. More About: Screen , Landscape , Iphone , Switch , Portrait
I Knew You Would Come
2007-10-31 14:15:00 There were two childhood buddies who went through school and college and even joined the army together. War broke out and they were fighting in the same unit. One night they were ambushed. Bullets were flying all over and out of the darkness came a voice, "Harry, please come and help me."Harry immediately recognized the voice of his childhood buddy, Bill. He asked the captain if he could go. The captain said, "No, I can't let you go, I am already short-handed and I cannot afford to lose one more person. Besides, the way Bill sounds he is not going to make it." Harry kept quiet. Again, the voice came, "Harry, please come and help me." Harry sat quietly because the captain had refused earlier. Again and again the voice came. Harry couldn't contain himself any longer and told the captain, "Captain, this is my childhood buddy. I have to go and help." The captain reluctantly let him go. Harry crawled through the darkness and dragged Bill back into the trench. They found that Bill was d...
